Terraria's Most Iconic Sounds Revealed

- It seemed as if a lot of people were still asking for presets, and I wanted to just make sure that if people wanted them, they had them. I really do want to hammer home the fact that presets and VSTs don't make or break your music. You can make just about ANY sound in ANY DAW with just the stock plugins. Hope you guys enjoy!

siivagunner melodyswap rippers eating good with this one
They really will be LMAO.
hello pnfrlenm
This video and docs must be preserved
I found this channel a few days ago and you were only at a couple hundred subscribers, its insane that you're already at 1.4k! Also, I would LOVE to hear completely original tracks you've made!
He was at like 80 when I found him it’s crazy what the algorithm can do for some people
same!
Finding another MSM community member outside of MSM community places is so strange
@8bitbunnie936 I know right? I found FishChamp somewhere in the wild before, and it was so odd
It's insane man
This year will be the surgence of Vanilla Terraria styled music I'm callin it !
Great job on the video and documentaiton!
I am a very good friend of Salvati, who did most of the soundtrack for The Spirit Mod and has been making music for probably over 10 years, since before Little Big Planet 2. Seeing him here was a very pleasant surprise. Keep doing what you do, man.
W LBP!!!
but did you prank call his personal home phone number 5 years ago with your friends? I don't think so...
I love these kind of videos where people just show how sounds or music is made for different games
A few hours ago, I found your video "When you lean into Terraria's style," and I was gonna put a comment on that video when I noticed you had made an actual video on how to make Terraria music in 5 minutes, and now I'm here.
As someone who's a big fan of Terraria, who wants to know how music for my favorite games are made and used, and also someone who wants to make their own music someday, this has been a nice little rabbit hole to delve down.
WHAT??
That is a treasure trove man! Insane work, keep up cool guy :))
this is an unhinged level of effort to do this. insane work.
big thanks to you and your team for these resources! i’ve always been fascinated by the soundscape of terraria’s music, scott lloyed shelly is truly a genius! i’ve been a composer/producer for a few years and ive always been interested in trying this style of music myself and this definitely gave me the kick to go do it!
You're like a prophet. This is nuts, I've just started to get into terraria mod soundtrack composition, I'm in constant search of source material, plugins and presets, I'm collating information and advice from Reddit posts and peers in the space, someone on my mod team just pointed out your video from three days ago - the timing couldn't be more perfect. Commenting 15 minutes after uploading. Thank you and your buds for this. Absolutely a pandora's box, for better or worse. Let me buy you a coffee or two, PLEASE!
I would love to hear the music you have to share with us, keep going we love it! ❤
You absolutely should upload those tracks you mentioned at the end, I'd love to hear more of your work not necessarily meant to sound like a specific game.
this is awesome thanks for making these videos
I'm always fascinated hearing melodies in isolation, really helps me appreciate the layers that make up the whole song, especially for such a complex ost like terraria.
Personally I'd love to see more of your music, you have such a unique style, every upload has been delightful!
thank you for doing all of this
good work condensing this knowledge, like it's insane to see all the work we all put into uncovering this soundtrack.
I still think it's insane I can say we Interviewed Scott Llyod Shelly.
Core memory type shit
Hah, neat. Such common sound effects in the game being straight out of an effects library kinda makes sense. The scale and popularity and budget of the original game was sooooooo much smaller than they would've likely ever expected it to be. To just wholesale pick some stock sounds makes sense, and now they've become part of that game's personality.
@@Aeduo I think this was possibly one of the most interesting parts to me.
coolest video ever thank you this channel is such a goldmine
i love terraria's music and i love hear more of its style! Would keep up the good work :D
0:45 that penguin did not deserve that ngl...
lethal frontshots
This is amazing dude, thank you so much for all this information.
No problem! Glad to see people are interested in this stuff!
Thanks for the work. Much appreciation for the passion within the music, and fondness for the game.
definitely would like to hear what your works sound like
It was a bit of a surprise for me when I 1st learned so much of the game is presets/samples they didn't make just for this game.
The selection is so good that it just sounds meant to be, and like they all came from the same source. (Again, largely cause of how they're used) Reminds me of older games, they had sounds I'd only ever associate with them, turns out they just used the weird bits off somewhat popular sample cd's, sometimes exactly as they came. As for your question at the end, I'd love to check it out.
This made think of when I recently did a re-watch of all of Code Lyoko, including the not-so-great sequel Evolution, where I noticed some of the same stock sound effects that were used in Terraria!
One example I've kept in mind is on EP10 at 13:14.
Goated content, please continue !
I knew the zombie sound must have been a sound pack, since I heard it used in a scene in Amphibia too. That was a bit of a jumpscare lmao
THIS IS SO USEFULL AHHH THANK U 💙💙💙💙
3:01 Yeah i would it would be cool to hear your own style with music.
This is gonna help so much when I (eventually) make the Terraria OST in sheet music! Synths are so much fun to try and figure out how to realistically notate
I remember that the Ghoul enemy sound is the same scream Demon Tricky does in Madness Combat 7
loved to hear some original tracks of yours
Actually the most goated video ever
I've been wanting to challenge myself by creating my own music mod for Terraria (Or maybe even a Terraria-inspired music mod for Starbound) to get myself into a better process/understanding of music composition since I still struggle with it a lot, so this resource is actually so nutty, TYSMMMM !!!!!!!!
this some high quality video man keep it up
been waiting for a video on yt like this for a LONG time.
I love the terraria but I think another niche thing that people (me) would love is some music similar to the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky music, some of the best music ive heard (or just nostalgia for A Grand Tale)
awesome.
Ty
I plan to make a Terraria OST at some point and this saves me time!
upload whatever. you’re a good composer and teacher. i’m down for this channel even if it isn’t a fully focused one
I knew your compositions were too good, I was confused on how they sounded so alike to the soundtrack, you're awesome
omg
that is BEAUTIFUL.
great now you’ve made me want to learn music theory and burn my savings on fl studio
This video is gonna blow up once the algorithm sees it. A few shorts highlighting sample selection would be awesome, since this is super interesting.
Now we just need the TBOI Sample Sheet.
Fun Fact: Droplets can be found in GARAGEBAND, in the Alchemy Synth tab
You casually having most of the terraria soundfont at your disposal opens so many possibilities. Something that I would be interested in seeing is if you tried remaking a Calamity Mod soundtrack using Vanilla Terraria's style.
congrats on 2k
His guys gonna blow up so fast! He literally had 100 subs when I was at his channel not to long ago
I think it’s quite fun to try and replicate the sounds yourself. I tried to recreate that synth you hear in the second half of the title with default Mixcraft assets and I got it nearly spot on. Plus it’s much cheaper to do so.
I totally agree! I live for making the sounds yourself, however, a ton of people were asking for the presets and I had access to a lot of them so I figured why not.
1:49 finding out that bird tweet sound was in fact not put into the song on purpose kinda makes me sad 😢
This is like the Halo google spreadsheet of every sound
Dude just came out of nowhere and opened a freaking Pandora's Box🤯
About 4 days ago, you were barely about to reach 1k, and as of right now, you've almost reach 1.7k. Honestly amazing how far you've already come in just a matter of literally a week lol
Wisperjas is truly a person of all time
Awesome!
3:00
YES, you're awesome
ths is so awesome bro. thx again for more great content and congrats on the milestone after such a short amount of time! well deserved. i personally have been diving into Dn-Famitracker and a bunch of classics with 2a03 and vrc6 and i just find the community and all of the things to explore so facinating. if you have done any works in those or any other trackers, would love to see what they are hear something like that from you as well!
Bro you are literally my new favorite youtuber😮
Marlilo, you just keep popping off, man! I thought it'd be a few months before your next massive video, but congrats on 1.6k anyways!
also, yes, I wanna hear it
i was aware there was a group of ppl (cant recall if it was u guys) (edit: yeah it was sbubbys vids a few years back) finding sounds for this game but didnt know just how many findings there were, ggs for this list and great work yall 👍
It's-a me, Marlilo!
John Terraria
Bro revealed his sound
The notes for daHornet that say "Synth Lead (Custom Preset)" lead to a dead Discord embed link that just says "This content is no longer available."
Sending the image link in Discord seems to embed it though, so that's good to know
would love to see one on portal 1 and 2 for years ive wondered how they made the ost
Holy shit he's nuts!!!
May the algorithm smile upon thee friend; It has brought me here, and I for one am quite happy to be here. You said that the imposter syndrome has hit, jus wait untill you have 100K by the end of the year. Rootin' for ya buddy.
THIS IS THE BEST SOUND SHEET
wait this is absolutely insane that you guys found most of the sounds from the game
I’m amazed at just how much stuff you guys found, but I kinda want to focus on how you mentioned the imposter syndrome at the end. I’m shocked at how recently you made your channel, but I can definitely tell that you’ve worked on stuff for a LONG time before making it. I’d love to hear more of the projects you’ve worked on, because aside from the game ost inspired tracks you’ve posted I know that the skills put into those would work well in any format, and it’s something that you’ve already learned, and I’m honestly just looking forward to seeing and listening to more of it lol. I think it’s deserved, it just happened really quickly and I’m sure it’s overwhelming.
i stumbled across a golden channel
boutta find colt and bench here
Ha! We should have babies sometime tho…
Very cool!
its awesome how fast you grew.
wow. whoever's that "Natah_DN" fellow must be stupid to find presets for 2D Minecraft /j
but fr tho, it was nice to see all of our work for the OST condensed into a short video, and I'm glad to have helped out with this lol
(thanks for the shout-out btw :3)
bro is almost at 2k already
I want to use the Sonopedia sample pack, but my budget doesn't allow it, and there are no other ways to use it. Maybe there are kind people here who can share this library? :)
Tu tu tu turu tutu tu turu tu tu tu 🎶 🐇 ☀️ 🌲
WHAT THE WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT TO THE PENGUIN
omg marlilo you found the silly sounds !!
edit SBUBBY AND SALVATIIII AAAAAAAH !!
whisperjas mentioned
that sheet is amazing!! but also y'all shouldn't really use discord attachments for linking images because discord tends to just show "This content is no longer available." thing instead after some time
the sheet was made before the discord attachment update happened so you can't really blame us
but uh yea I'll try to update the img links soon :3
hey thats me in the video
This is crazy
Comment for the algo
Nice
I love you.
This is the stuff that makes me want to get into music composition but everything is hidden behind paywalls its so annoying qwq
There are tons and tons of free options. Start slow and learn, and then once you start making money off of it get some better gear that will allow you to do it more easily. Don’t give up!
oh woah thats me.......
at the time i posted that comment i just hadnt found the video yet lol.
ofc the jungle track preset is called hornet
why the hell wouldnt it be?
I would like to know how the electric guitar sounds in themes like the underground desert, plantera or the frost moon are made, thanks!
Cool
Great video! Please do share your original compositions as well, I'd love to hear! Even if they don't get as many views, they're a valuable investment into establishing your presence as a creator in your own right.
I have a little question, where can you get the ESX24 sampler packs used in the game? I know it's now replaced by the regular Sampler in Logic but I can't seem to find the needed presets in the default preset list!
Same thing with Ultrabeat kits btw
@@purpysvault they should be in legacy, so look for the date on the preset! For ultrabeat, the patches are easily accessible within the plugin.
I'm just curious - what microphone are you using? It sounds so natural and clear.
At2020 lmao
@@MarlonMarlilo great sound processing.
or your voice is that good.
bro alr doubled the subscriber count lol
I cant find sonopedia, i go to pro sound effects and try to look it up and i get nothing
did you find the record scratch sample that plays at the start of boss 1? ive been looking for that a while since i heard it in some old breakbeat track
Question to the previous vod. Is there a good analog for Livecut? Maybe Shaperbox or Portal could do well?
@@Edge_2 Yeah both could work. Manually cutting the sample works great so if you’re in FL it can be good to use SliceX.
@MarlonMarlilo Big precie man, to you and all your fellows for the such an opportunity. Love yall❤️
