Did Samsung update their software because the S24 and S24U look so much better in those comparisons compared to months ago. It’s the oldest phone but can easily keep up with the best. I hope they will upgrade the camera system of the S25
yeah they released new update on iphone announcement day for entire s24 lineup, just in time for comparison. Camera and battery has improved a lot on 24u
I'm glad you used the regular S24. The fact that the camera array on the S2x Ultra phones are different is slightly annoying. Wish Samsung could just admit defeat like the Pixel, and just create a smaller sized S24 Ultra if they want to separate the camera sensors from the Ultra line to the regular and +.
The iPhone is much sharper in daylight thanks to the 24MP default images in comparison to the S24. That is to be expected considering the 15 already had superior images.
I think we're past the point where these comparisons matter, all high end phones take great pics and video, and even mid tier ones are great. Congrats, we all win
Today at work i needed to take some videos and read some labels inside a machine and without the 3x on my s22 it wuold have been impossible so having the zoom camera is a no brainer for me
The Balance and Flexibility of Galaxy S is always impressive to me. It can excel at everything but not specifically beat others ! Jack of all trade definitely
Could you test night time video with the Pixel 9 Pro video boost on? I'd be curious how that footage would compare to the 16 Pro and S24 Ultra for night video.
I prefer the overall look of the Pixel, especially at minute 3:00 give me that magizine ready pic any day so I can quickly post it rather than messing with those new iphone Photographic Styles that they don't quite hit the mark. They provide more flexibility, but their straight-out-of-camera quality falls short compared to the Pixel 9, which requires no editing.
Yup that’s why I just show it all because everyone has a different preference. I made a video once where I didn’t explain the photos and people went wild so I have my opinion but use the videos and pictures to come up with your own conclusion. No right or wrong.
Phone market has matured already. It is a matter of preference for android or iphone. We don't need to spend 1000 bucks to get a good one either. I got my Pixel 8 for 500 bucks.
I have to go with the S24 for having a dedicated 3x telephoto and pro controls for photo and video within the stock camera app. When we go outside of cameras to software it's not even close.
You are by far the best reviewer when it comes to camera comparison. You pay attention to meticulous details and it helps us to make a perfect decision. Thank you.
Hey! Could you please test the phones' raw photo capabilities, how much detail do they really capture without the compressions? That would be really interesting

Hi man! i hope uou see this but the S24 is the base model? Im planning to buy for concert use and secondary phone so Im just checking as the zoom is useable in photo and video.
These tests are kind of funny, in real life people never analyze photos or even look at taken photos more than once or twice... 😂 Many times you just take a photo, look it or show it to someone and erase it.
@@dannywinget yes I saw your previous video, the pixel 9pro, 16pm, s24u ones prior to the update This is the S24 post UI7 update right, I think ultra can only get better from here.
It's time for Samsung to bring their flagship cameras to their base model. You can tell that the hardware is dated compared to the competition. While this is a comparison between the S24, Pixel 9, and iPhone 16, the S24's cameras do not hold up well against the iPhone 16 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro, and Xiaomi 14.
I think it's important to note that iphone can practically match pixel or s24 with its photographic styles. So you can get the look you want. And that's great.
@@Jo5ue1 I don't if people realized yet, but Pixel 9 has worse processing pipeline than iphone 16. Apple has the upper hand in processing from iphone 14 and up. So photographic styles are really a good addition.
yeah I don't play video games on my phone. I'm a grown adult so therefore a powerful processor doesn't do anything for me. But I understand you might be a gamer so go with the iPhone. But when it comes to mobile photography, there's no match to the color rendering of what the pixel reproduces without any sort of editing@@gigamoment
@@Jo5ue1 You didn't understand me. By processing pipeline I mean the camera software processing pipeline. Google used to have the upper hand some years ago because of the professor Marc Levoy. But since the day he left from Google, they haven't had a progress at all. This year they tried to change it but I have seen the samples and they are much worse than before. Apple in the meantime has done a great progress in computational photography and it's the leader in this across the whole market. I don't know who is their mentor, but they really know what they are doing. Samsung of the other hand they are away of those two players.
I guess it's subjective but the iPhone might have the best of the best processing pipeline but what matters most to me is the end results and for me the Pixel is still the champion of still images. The color rendering just can't be beaten. Most balance natural shots with the best color reproduction without having all that powerful mighty chip @@gigamoment
@@Jo5ue1 Again, as I already told you the colors are something fixable. The photographic styles gives you the options to shoot with he colors you think it's natural out of the box and with greater detail and dynamic range than the Pixel. So there's no really any argunent in favor of Pixel as it can only provide one look and nothing more.
For me iPhone would be out of the question because there is no way to fix any issues you might have. I am quite happy with the general exposure and colour choices my Pixel 9 Pro makes, just as I was with the 7 Pro. But that "smartphone look" ie not having real detail when you zoom in, is only fixable on Android. Either Samsung on Pixel can do that. But there is something to be said for Apple's ergonomics. The interface, the shutter, all makes the process of capturing the photo that much more enjoyable. Also people won't believe me for this but the maximum possible video quality on these android flagships, if you are willing to forego a convenient workflow, is much higher. DirectLOG and RAW video makes a difference.
Additionally, I wouldn't be surprised if given some time that the base P9 will get 50mp. Not that you are actually missing out on anything but it's happened in the past as well.
After watching this video i think i will hold on to my pixel 6 pro until the release of android 16 as the pixel 9 doesnt seem like a compelling upgrade
And the winner among compact mobile phones is ... Xiaomi 14! None of iPhone, Pixel or S24 can make naturally looking photos of nature or landscapes. I tested all of them but I went to nature (not a city downtown like every reviewer!), took lots of in pictures in forest, golden hour sunsets or difficult blue hour shots... Pixel is the worst of the three IMO, it is probably well optimized to win DXO mark tests but lacks natural look, and desperately lacks in features and UX of the native photo app. It also messes up colors terribly (oh those shitty artificially red sunsets or bluehour sky - the colors are messed up also in RAW!), the colors are optimized for likes not for natural look. iPhone (I tested 15 Pro but I doubt that iPhone 16 is significantly better) is slightly better, but its drawback is that it is just iPhone with all that UX quirks that would drive mad anyone who once tried Android. It also does not create naturally looking images, too much oversharpening, too much HDR, impossible to tune down the heavy postprocessing. Basically the same objections as Pixel but the features and UX of the native photo app is slightly better in iPhone than Pixel. Samsung is the best of the three especially because it provides manual PRO mode (PRO makes very very naturally looking pictures but suffer from very limited dynamic range) and also other ExpertRAW app which gives quite good results even with JPEGs (still need manual post processing though). Moreover it has something like CameraAssist app where you can tune down that crazy oversharpening. Xiaomi 14 is the best among them. Its pictures look more natural than any other phone I have had (with one exception of Sony Xperia, but it had other serious drawbacks). And what I love the most, I can easily turn OFF HDR if I do not want it!!! I wish every brand offered this option directly on the main screen of the camera application. My rating would be: 1st place Xiaomi 14 2nd place Samsung S24 3rd place iPhone 16 4th place Pixel 9
