But what about the 1997-2001 prelude? I say this not because I own one, but because every time I let someone have a go in my car (shame on me right) they never don't smile about it
ignore the ignorant people commenting bad things about your voiceover, i really prefer the videos which include a voiceover, overall adding to the usual well made videos. keep it up visioracer!
eat pant Right, people don't care about accents, most people here are not native english speakers, many are surely way worse than him (just like me...)
Oh i want an RX8, Sure it's not the most fuel efficient engine but reliability is actually pretty good if you premix 2 stroke oil plus you get a limited slip diff, 2 extra seats and a car that has superior handling. Not as fast in a straight line but it's a Grand tourer, not a sports car technically.
BMW E46 330i is the best 200hp car in my opinion. RWD and perfect balance. Great looks and gives amazing driver feedback. Sure you might need to have some money for repairs but it's beyond that. A true affordable unique luxury drivers car.
Any SAAB turbo from 1987 onwards 900/9000/93/95 would cost less than 5K and spank the majority of the vehicles shown. Particularly in the 80 kmph to 140 kmph range, 3rd gear pull. My dads 95 aero is completely stock and i have seen it smash many holden or ford V8s in this range, even the hsv or fpv ones. 0-100 the V8s win tho..
AnEejit saab are great cars I ove them. I have a 9-3 turbo with new turbo ,coilovers, a new exhaust system, I have ecu tuning a 17 inches bbs a saab 1.8t cooling system an intercoller and with it all the car makes about 350hp plus I have a saab 900 Spg for restoration
oddly yes, and those things were built on the same platform as my car (chevy malibu, epsilon platform) so i have thought of doing a swap, though i think it's better just to turbo the 2.2 after getting some forged pistons and a cam in there, and would be nice to get the AWD out of one of the later models and put that in there aswell
my e39 525td is chip tuned to 205bhp and i personally think its slightly too much power for normal street driving. the traction control constantly kicks in when its raining outside.
golf1diesel weight stripping , tires and suspension first, see how the car gets on. If it’s lighter you won’t need bigger brakes unless you are constantly slamming them.
Such a shame that you can't get any of these cars here in Holland for those prices. And when you do have one, your taxes and insurance are extremely high. The only car that is cheap on this list is the 156 (wich is also one of my favourites), but then the taxes come in...
The volvo C70 T5 (or any other volvo with the 2,3 T5 engine) is also a great car for this price range. It sounds amazing thanks to the 5 cylinder engine and has 240hp.
yeah, the Dodge Dart SRT4, 2.0L turbo, AWD, was pretty much being built as competition to STI's and Evo's, sadly slow sales of the Dart and chrysler 200 caused them to have to stop production and reassign the factory to fill demand for their Jeep's and Ram's. there's some hope though, 2018 sees a return of the Dodge Neon to the US (hopefully) it's already for sale down in mexico, so there's hope of a SRT4 for that
i got a 97 cobra for $2000 and another $1500 i got her on the road... fox chassis 1979-2004 mustangs are a solid way to get a fun car for that price. for reference the cobra of that year makes 305 stock
Any manual transmission BMW e34 is great sub $5k car. RWD, great engine options (m20, m30, m50 and m60), all obd1, 4 doors, reliable cars, solid cheap efficient and the 6 cylinders are great candidates for forced Induction, and some even have an LSD ;)
youll never find a good condition srt4 for under 5k. in my are they are around 8k. want cheap and fast go for a 350z. or chevy cobalt and or saturn ion redline
350z has become a quite decent choice for the money imo. Nice power, nice sound, nice looks, all can be had for under $8k in good shape and relatively low mileage (~80k miles).
yes just never get one with 120k+ miles the vq35 is amazing for power and sound but it loses compression very early on and burns oil (bad piston rings material used) i drive a 6speed 2003 g35 sedan cheaper and only 100 pounds heavier, right now with 156k it has low comp in almost every cylinder and 10 MPG with oil burning :/
Zoltan Benedek I've had an R53 Cooper S for over two years now and done a lot of harsh driving with it and around 60,000 miles, I've never had a problem with this car and would recommend it to anyone, great fun! It's also a dsg and still not a single problem.
Is it the supercharged or the turbo version because there is a big difference between the two? I just refered to the Prince engine equipped Coopers which are having a 1.6 L turbo 4 cylinder, co developed with Peugeot (BMW and PSA were commonly developing small displacement units) which are suffering from some major issues. I know car dealers who are instantly rejecting a Mini if underneath the bonnet is the 1.6 turbo, but anyway if it's working fine in your case that's fine for me.
Zoltan Benedek Its the supercharged one so I guess I made the right choice. I definitely wouldn't buy the turbod model. I really don't like the new shape and the supercharger has a lot more character in my opinion. You can't beat that whine!
have you ever considered doing little videos on special cars in racing and automotive history. just make like a 5 to 10 minute video talking about a historical car
bunch of 2000-2005 mustangs are pretty cheap as are camaro and firebirds of the 90s, sometimes you get a good one for 2000 and fuel milage is a bit of a meh factor they get good power
Can you start doing separate American and EU videos or at least separate them into two groups in your videos? Not that I don't enjoy seeing EU cars it just really isn't as applicable for your American audience. Keep up the great work man!! :).....much love from the USA
I've been watching your videos for some time, and love how you sound more comfortable with your voice-overs. Don't listen to the haters - your voice does not bug me at all! And your videos are structured so well. Keep doing what you're doing. The only suggestion I would have is to change the outro music from time to time.
the 4th gen specifically, they are very easy to find and cheap (unless you want to track down a clean SS, in my area it's mostly V6's under that $5K mark, well, there's some V8's but they're pretty rusty) in fact, one day i'd like to own one and swap the engine, perhaps a LSX swap lol
Taurus SHO should be on this list for sure. And it may not meet the handling standards, but a mustang is going to be your best bang for your buck as far as power goes. Easy to make handle good too.

08-10 SS I prefer. It's not unique like the LSJ but that LNF has massive potential and doesn't cap at 330whp like most LSJs are sitting at. I'm glad you mention the Chevy most forget the Cobalt had the car and driver lightning lap record for like 10 years before honda type R 😅
Also in the US you can usually find a 4th Gen Camaro or Firebird in decent condition around that price point and they handle very well for being muscle cars. Bonus if you can get one with the LS1, those have up to 320hp depending on trim!
damn son the Honda engine screaming like a girl but one of the Best engine ever is the rotary one which sounds much better in my opinion what about you and as always good video ;-)
I mean the rx8 or any rotary would be a good actual track car given that rotary engines do their best when driven on the track at higher rpms for more time, the reason why mazda or they're quad rotor car was banned was because it was too good and since it was being pushed like its supposed to be it didn't wear down like the cars using cylinder engines. oh shit almost forgot, I love the videos and always have, keep up the good work!
The more I've learned about cars, the more I realize HP isn't everything. HP is just a number, and often times just a pissing contest figure. I started with LS1 camaros, mustang GTs, a WRX, and although all were fun in their own ways, in time I went with cars w/ less HP - an NA Miata, and now a 04' Rx-8. All I can say is that you don't need more than 200-250hp in a car that weights 3000lbs or less to have fun. Initially I'd say wow, only 200hp? That's slow. In reality, 200hp can be quite fast in something as light and tiny as a Miata. Right now I have a manual Rx-8 with full bolt ons, and it's one of the funnest cars I've ever owned. Quite quick in a straight line, and rips around corners better than any bloated muscle car with 2x as much HP.
Cool story, hope your RX-8 will run strong long enough. I like that car. Regarding the hp, I think the same. I have a 200hp BRZ and I love it so much. I'd take more power, but I don't really need it now.
Maybe that's why he leaves large sections without talking so we can hear the cars? Talk first, let us look, then quiet as the action happens. His videos are perfect.
Un7ucky lol you must not be educated on certain cars, hondas will never die out at 100k, i own a honda civic ive been red lining tf outta it since 93, has over 220k miles
How was it? Did it feel strong? Never drove a 2ZZ but my buddy has a tC with the 2.4L that replaced the 2ZZ in the XRS, and that car feels pretty zippy.
The Toyota Celica's 1.8 L engine is oil thirsty but otherwise its not a bad unit. I'm glad to see the RenaltSport Clio on this list becaust it's a very underrated car with a great power to weight ratio, nimble handling, diecent acceleration and a high revving naturally aspirated engine
Good to know :) I only knew that in some Lotus models it is applied also with a Yamaha designed cylinder head but I was thinking that all versions are oil thirsty...
The only thing is the 2zz has no power under 6000 rpm as shown on best motoring,in the uphill it even lost to b16b Civic type r and the b18c Integra dc2.Whilst it's quick and nice in downhills or flats a k20 especially it's better due to the gear ratios,6 speeds and lower lift.
Saab 9-3 aero from 98-02 is a very fun and cheap car! Here in sweden they cost between 1000 and 3000 dollars. Really cheap for 205-255 hp! Very fun to drive, alot horses for the money and easy to work with.
Don't forget the 2001 Toyota Camry SE V6 4dr sedan. Stock with 190 horsepower and worth around 3k stock. If you add the right parts at the lowest prices, it will be 200 horses while staying under 5k.
Mazdaspeed MX-5? Or even The 2000-2004 Miata LS? The LS came with Bilstein shocks, LSD, 6 speed short throw manual, Bose stereo, Nardi Italian leather interior.....and the Mazdaspeed version added a turbo to the 1.8, upping horsepower from 140 (which is quite enough in a 2200lb car) to 170hp. Since they only gained 30hp with the turbo, the obviously erred on the side of safety, so I'd bet my bottom dollar that the motor has tuning potential.
Good list, however I can't believe that the 3rd gen Mitsubishi Eclipse isn't on here. The hardtop manual GT does 60 MPH in 6.5 seconds and is loads of fun.
Imo my mini has an incredibly exhaust note. Long tubes, 2.5in pacesetter pipes and no cats . It pops like a gin shot in between shifts and is throaty n pretty loud too.
It is about getting a cheap 200 HP but not about running it on the cheap. That holds true especially if you talk about the Alfa Romeo 156. You just have to think of the running costs of a Merc or Beamer minus reliability. :)
Rsx ftw... I own a type s. I have it for 4 year's now and not a single engine or tranny issue VTEC him all days. Right now it have 161,000 miles and still strong and it handles great
You left out a pretty quick competitor to all of these....The 2007-2012 B16 Nissan Sentra SER Spec V. I would choose this car over any of these mentioned in the video. I used to own one and it was very reliable all the way to 187k, was fairly quick and had gobs of torque which made daily driving very easy.
Great videos, good job. I just can't understand why people hate that you actually speak, I like it better this way. Also, never ever could stand the boxer sound from a Subaru... Disgusting. :D
I’m pretty sure the Subaru Impreza GC8 did not come turbocharged in the US, only a NA 2.5 engine. Doing the swap is easy enough but then you have to deal with the swap and finding a decent chassis.
I know everyone will hate me for saying this but the mustang gt from the late 90s to early 2000s are really fun cars that range from 230 to 260 hp. They will have high-ish millage but the drive train is pretty built proof and the mods are not expensive.
Not sure about the other cars but I have an 02 RSX type S. So far I'm paying about $50 per additional hp without going boost. The stock open differential is my biggest complaint about this car and I need to get an LSD before I continue with adding more power to the 218whp/157tq it's at now.
In the US, you can easily afford the WRX. Its insurance thats the issue. Was quoted $5000 a year for one (I'm 16, on parents insurance). Good thing my insurance company recognizes my 2005 Forester XT as a family wagon instead of an EJ255-bearing performance car.
Rather later than never. Sorry for the delayed upload, thank you for watching! Hopefully you like it.
Damn, Honda preludes are under 5k. Arguably the best looking honda too.
VisioRacer This is a great list! Pretty spot on for my area too, except I don't get the Alfa and Renault :/
Much, much better with your voice. Good job!
I got a car with a 140 HP for 1800$ does that count?

yeah, the Dodge Dart SRT4, 2.0L turbo, AWD, was pretty much being built as competition to STI's and Evo's, sadly slow sales of the Dart and chrysler 200 caused them to have to stop production and reassign the factory to fill demand for their Jeep's and Ram's. there's some hope though, 2018 sees a return of the Dodge Neon to the US (hopefully) it's already for sale down in mexico, so there's hope of a SRT4 for that

CarTrash it's still a dated turd
Mazdaspeed protege is a good option as well. Though it’s 170hp, it won’t break the bank to get it to 200+
You forgot about the corolla t-sport. It has the same angine as the celica, is a bit more practical and handles quite good.
Marios Pantouvanos It's a great little car with a lot of revvs
there is also a version with supercharger from factory.
sogetsu60 The problem is that it was a very limited version with only 600 built which means that they are more expensive and very hard to find.

Great Video dude, great work also! You're an amazing RUclipsr and I adore your work, keep it up. Proud of you!
Thank you, buddy!
VisioRacer You're welcome dude! Such a pleasure having the chance to talk to such a big RUclipsr! Amazing!
2002 Maxima put out 255hp with it's VQ35DE(same engine that's in the 350z)
mhoblit but sadly it's a wrong wheel drive 😭
Franglais! ik, but it still skids
mhoblit I might be wrong but as far as I know this V6 is avalaible in some Renaults also
yes it was
its also not the "same" engine similar not the same at all
0:49 Capp-able. Great work dude haha
Hm, should have listened the Google Translate first. Thanks, though.
330i(e46) in here cost brand new 320d in EU for Fucksake
Mehmet Cumhur which country?
Facts Turkey
select ci or ti then
10:12 that launch...
its brutal isnt it? Would love one but that horrendous reliability.
that thing has probably over 700hp
Impossibru i believe it has around 800
Whaaat 5000 bucks ... in my country all these car more than 60k bucks.. lol
xTimelessGaming Wow! Look who's in here lol
Wow maybe theres something called currencies which have different values
xTimelessGaming not in Georgia usa
love the voiceover visio! Mainly because I'm too lazy to read :P
Rx8 wins.
invinciblejets eats ass
The only reliable 200 hp car I can think top of my head under $5k usd would be the Acura RSX or the celica GTS.
nothing against it but i like the videos a lot more when you only explained the things in text so we can hear everything going on in the background
You can hear everything necessary in the background and read the text if you like.
+VisioRacer not when your gross voice is there
Learn to speak English first maybe.... and don't use your youtube channel to practice it
Maybe that's why he leaves large sections without talking so we can hear the cars? Talk first, let us look, then quiet as the action happens. His videos are perfect.
Toyota Celica GTS! 2ZZ power FTW baby! 😁😁😁
All those car blow up after 100k miles lol
Jimmy Rides84 Celica, Integra and the Civic almost never die that soon.
any car red lined all day has this issue, its going to be an annual clutch replacement and a rebuild every 100k if you abuse it with basically any car
Un7ucky lol you must not be educated on certain cars, hondas will never die out at 100k, i own a honda civic ive been red lining tf outta it since 93, has over 220k miles
I have a E46 compact with over 210 000 km of daily torture and still going strong
1999 BMW 328ci e46 with 192hp, 350000km and still going strong as well(and drifting).
And now in 2021 I can’t even find 90s civics for reasonable prices.
i like the videos better without his voice
Chris Ruiz cant understand the accent
Clever Kitsune then shut the volume and read the text ;) But you won't hear the cars.
Chris Ruiz an foreign instructer, why is this bad?
I know someone who has a Subaru Ipreza with 500+hp fully stripped out, full roll cage and bucket seat it's awesome
I had a corolla xrs with the 2zzfe
The Celica with 140 hp is oil thirsty, the one in this video is a 2zz engine and has no oil issues.
Good to know :) I only knew that in some Lotus models it is applied also with a Yamaha designed cylinder head but I was thinking that all versions are oil thirsty...
Zoltan Benedek it also has yamaha head in the celica ;) the european celicas have 192bhp. In the us they only had 180
I'm considering a celica gts
Saab 9-3 aero from 98-02 is a very fun and cheap car! Here in sweden they cost between 1000 and 3000 dollars. Really cheap for 205-255 hp! Very fun to drive, alot horses for the money and easy to work with.
I like the mixed subtitles and audio
My '05 SRT4 is a really fun car to drive and has just about gotten me into trouble a number of times.
i was really hoping to see the gt-four model of celica on the list, but I'm still glad the new one was on
Love the vids man
great video as always!! i am looking forward to buy my first car! It will be a Honda Civic 1.6 VTI ! ;) keep up the good work !!
Good choice
Holy shit! That Subaru driver has proper skills.
Quality content here, great stuff! Just wish the Alfas and Fiats weren't so rare in Canada, they make all the right noises :)
Good list, however I can't believe that the 3rd gen Mitsubishi Eclipse isn't on here. The hardtop manual GT does 60 MPH in 6.5 seconds and is loads of fun.
the thumbnail for some reason made me think of the reason i love cars, almost looks like nfs 2. 200hp isnt a lot but its what you do with it
Imo my mini has an incredibly exhaust note. Long tubes, 2.5in pacesetter pipes and no cats . It pops like a gin shot in between shifts and is throaty n pretty loud too.
also cobalt ss/sc or saturn ion redline(if you are in the states) is a great option if its not ragged out
I just bought a Mini Cooper S John Cooper works for somewhere around your budget, 208BHP, 0-60mph in around 6 to 6.5 seconds, top speed around 143mph!
Good buy
bought me an 02 mustang GT with 100k miles for $3,750. 260 HP 302 lb/ft and 3250lb curb weight, couldn't be happier!
Right now it have 161,000 miles and still strong and it handles great
@VisioRacer - Thanks for using my film on 330i. I follow you for a long time, and I was shocked when suddenly I saw my video.
My pleasure 😀
You sound like ayrton senna!
Keep the good work
NOTIFICATION GANG ! love your vids bro
the FIAT Coupé 20VT sounds similar to the Viper.
Ummmmm 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT models definitely deserve a spotlight on this list
I got a Saab 9-5 2.3t from 2000 for about 400$. 200 hp and comfy as hell.
congratulation for 200k 🚘🔰
Thank you!
My car weighs 2200lbs, 200hp is pretty fun, 300 is race spec 😂
dude, that guy in the subie is romping it !
I know everyone will hate me for saying this but the mustang gt from the late 90s to early 2000s are really fun cars that range from 230 to 260 hp. They will have high-ish millage but the drive train is pretty built proof and the mods are not expensive.
04 malibu maxx pushes 200 hp and 210 lbs of torque, what a sleeper for such a moms car
Well the type r is even more expensive now
Not sure about the other cars but I have an 02 RSX type S.
In the uk we can get a 190 (approx) hp e36 estate as well as other models (e36 conpact, sedan, 2 door, cabrio)
For 250£
