Evos and STIs are extremely overpriced here in the US. They usually start at $15,000 but it's not surprising to see even Blob eye STIs at $20,000. Also good luck finding a stock one.

Since I am not willing to make lists like fun 200hp, 250hp, 300hp, 350hp, 400hp cars and so on, I make them like this. Would you put the 250 hp & 300 Nm/220 ft-lb car to the 200hp or 300hp list? I suppose it fits to the latter one better.
In Australia you can get a 330hp LS1 powered Commodore, or 320hp turbo 4.0 litre 6 cylinder Barra powered Falcon XR6 turbo, for cheaper than any other car on this list....
Porsche are extrem relibale and for that reason cheap to run, it become only expansive if u dont not maintenance them ...but that is with any other car... and btw two pice aircooled drilled rotors are always more expansive than simple full steel rotors(at any brand!)... but if you push ur car sometime on a racetrack you will notice the huge different between imple one piston two pice calipers with simple steel one pice steel rotors and monoblock 4 pistion calipers and two pice drilled rotors... if you cant afford high perfromance brake maintenance on a Porsche u cant afford similar highperfromance brake mainteance on any other car...
No SN95 cobra(pre terminator) or 3v S197 mustang? Both those cars can be had for well under 10k and they come much closer to the 300 mark than the examnples you listed here.
Instead mentioning E81/87 130i, you should mention E82 125i, 3.0 R6, goes from 218 to 286 hp with just a tune no other mods required. Extremely capable &a fun to drive car, looks are definitely better then hatch.
you guys at Europe / US are lucky. in my country (indonesia), these cars costs above rp.400,000,000. (around $40,000 / £25,000) which is expensive as hell.
The cheapest way into a real 300bhp I can think of is a Jaguar S Type 4.2 v8 with 300bhp/310 FtLbs - you can get them in well used condition for £1500 these days; its a barge - but so was the merc :) If you play a little looser with the HP definition like most of the cars mentioned here, the 3 litre S type puts out 247bhp, costs under a grand for a useable one and better still, can be bought with a manual gearbox....
V70/S80 is heavily into the family car territory. You can hardly call them "fun" cars because they're mostly just super comfortable and predictable. Don't get me wrong, I love driving the 3.2 NA S80 because it's the engine is just bliss but it's really heavy. S60R is expensive but you have a point there with the S60 T5. It's kind of getting there.
VisioRacer I know cuz I'm living in East Europe but in my country you have to pay luxury tax after 2.0 liters so even if I would buy one the taxes and insurence cost will be a total of between 1800 to 2000 euro/year which is a lot plus there is the not so affordable maintenance of the 43 AMG while its fuel consumption is high so it will only remain a dream for me... I'm rather looking for a first generation Lexus IS200 or if I'll save up some money a 2013/2014 Audi S3.

The first one on your list should be an 05-09 Mustang GT. 300hp/320lbft torque before any tuning/mods/turbo/supercharger. It will dust most of the cars on this list and is reliable and easy/cheap to fix.
Those are quite affordable in Europe, but they don't really exist in the USA. Also, there are countries like mine, Slovakia, where you cannot register a RHD car or a car with a mid-mounted driver's seat (like the McLaren F1). Stupid, right, but that's how it is.
So obviously your definition of cheap and mine are drastically different as well as our definition of 300 horsepower. I didn't think that last one could have but one definition but since you put multiple cars on this list that have less than 300 hp I'm not sure what else to conclude.
That Alfa may have a fairly inexpensive buy-in price, may look beautiful and sound amazing, but keeping it running will make you cry from what I hear...That one is a labour of love.
How about a C4 corvette? if you can turn a wrench you can find even special editions for a good price. not even joking, on my local craigslist i have found a rare 35th anniversary edition Corvette (only 2050 were built) and the Dude was asking only $4000 for it. Why so cheap though? that's where the "turn a wrench" part comes in. It unfortunately had electrical faults throughout the car, a bad fuel pump, a dead starter, a whole list of issues. Exterior was in a bit of a sad shape aswell though nothing not really fixable. The interior though just appeared to be used as his storage, so that also needed work. The motor was also a bit tired as it sat at 100K+. Though to be honest i was quite tempted by it, as i do fix cars after all lol
In the US the cheapest routes are GM F-bodies, anything with an LS4 (300 hp to the front wheels, a Chrysler 300/Dodge Magnum/Charger, or a Volvo S60R. All can be had for under $3500 if you you stalk your local craigslist.
Please keep the make and model of the car on-screen for the full duriation of that car's reel. It's very tiresome to pause and backtrack if you missed the model number.
The C36 used the m104 straight 6 engine, a E36 was also available. The C32 amg was a V6 supercharged M112 engine, this was used in the w203 model and slk32 amg R170 model.
If you know what you're doing build a kitcar, my brother and I built a 300hp 464kg locost 7, I recommend Ron Chapmans book "build a kitcar for £250" it was maybe £250 in the 1960's when the book came out

I'll be honest, I think that generation of Boxster is the best looking Porsche ever made. I also work with a guy who has a nearly mint condition 1997 Boxster.
Alfa 147 under steers without the LSD, as does the Mazda. the Evo drinks petrol and is a pig to drive in town, ditto for the WRX - STI, the BMW 1 series looks like a pig and is over priced and 335i is a better car, the Boxter: 'is it coming or going' but better than a TT, only a low mileage Megane is worth considering, the Marauder is a big saloon and there are better choices like the AMG, The others just depend on what you want.
Those C43 AMG know to be very expensive. They also know to have problems with rust, if they are not keept in garage or washed after the winter. Those cars are just amazing. If you want to buy one, in good condition, you'll have to pay at least 10000€. Those with a tiny bit of rust are about 5000-8000€. This is in Germany and I know very well these engines. They won't die or something like that but you should change the oil every 15000km. They are just perfect crusing cars.
On the paper, yes. If you do buy it you'll need the accessory paper bag so that you can drive your Boxster without seeing it. Just hearing and feeling is enough.
Cheap? Compared to what exactly? My idea of cheap is less than a months wages. I'd have to save for a few years to afford any of these motors and be able to actually run it as well. The majority of working people are in the same boat so ignore the rich daddies boys spouting off about how rich _they_ are... Personally I prefer to make something fast out of something slow on a budget and beat Porsche's with it but maybe that's just me.

The inline 6 in the c36 can take 700hp without engine mods. It's the 2jz of mercedes. Some guys called turbobandits make bolton kits for these engines

JRT I can't stand most German cars. They feel to cheap inside. The interior quality is not worth it in my opinion. A new gm or dodge is much nicer.

If you want to buy one, in good condition, you'll have to pay at least 10000€. Those with a tiny bit of rust are about 5000-8000€. This is in Germany and I know very well these engines. They won't die or something like that but you should change the oil every 15000km. They are just perfect crusing cars.

On the paper, yes. If you do buy it you'll need the accessory paper bag so that you can drive your Boxster without seeing it. Just hearing and feeling is enough.

Cheap? Compared to what exactly? My idea of cheap is less than a months wages. I'd have to save for a few years to afford any of these motors and be able to actually run it as well. The majority of working people are in the same boat so ignore the rich daddies boys spouting off about how rich _they_ are... Personally I prefer to make something fast out of something slow on a budget and beat Porsche's with it but maybe that's just me.
