Says a lot about Devons character that he'd prefer to shed a light on the deeds of his fellow soldiers rather than just talk about his own. I hope he does some day in as much depth as he's willing/allowed, but I hope this keeps up. Came to this channel following him as a fan of arm wrestling, but find myself sticking around because of how good of a father he is, along with this kind of stuff. Keep up the good work and good luck with your next match! Hoping to see you in Chicago
Big respect for the medics!! Had some great ones in Bosnia! So many soldiers have a hard time when retired. The brothership & camaraderie we experienced doesn’t exist on civi street! Hats off to you Devin & Doc!
Devon, your podcast is such a great idea. Adding a little different to the menu, really appreciate it. My grandfather fought in WWII in north Norway (in Narvik, where the allies gave Hitler his first defeat), and was a sergeant and a medic. He very rarely spoke about his direct experiences with combat situations, but during his funeral, a life-long friend of his told a long, and very moving story, which really showcased the level of intensity that was going on there. Perhaps here is not the place to go into details of the story. I once met another WWII veteran, randomly, at a bus stop. He was seemingly cheerful about his experiences, although of course mentioned that it was hard. I mentioned that my late grandfather was also a veteran, and he asked where he fought. I said "Narvik", and the old man's smile disappeared quickly, and said "That was a very bad situation..." I'm really grateful for what my grandfather's generation did, and hope we'll never see something like that ever again. Thank you again Devon for sharing these videos with us.
I hope you do more of these Devon. Particularly on your own career. Ive been so interested as others are I'm guessing. Any chance you will ever sit down with us and tell us about the "non classified" stuff you've been through? If you don't like to speak about it that's ok too. You got a fan down here in Texas.
Excellent interview Devon, JC We served at the beginning of your career, I have never forgotten our jumps together and good times, but perhaps you have, as you went on to a full career - Crazy buddy in the thick of it - Listening about the chopper crash and the fire-fight in the valley that's movie stuff. Well done you should be very proud of your service and those you served with.
Devon, just recently found you on youtube , huge fan ... I have been watching some of your recent videos with Juji and some of the arm wrestling stuff , and then this video here with your buddy JC/Starheavy.... I tip my hat to you brother, you and your buddy JC are the real deal, good men. I served in US Navy back in '93 , never saw anything like the stories you guys shared... please keep up the great videos! may God continue to bless you guys and your families!
My aunt and uncle spent over 30 years each in the Canadian navy. Seeing action. Aunt had her sharpshooter status as well as deep sea diving for the navy. She’s also part of the order of Canada for military heroism. My uncle spent time in the uk as a bodyguard for the queen and was a CWO
My heart swells with pride watching this my grandfather fought in ww2 if he was drinking you may get a short story from him about the war but mostly kept it to himself.. I love my country and the people that serve it...Keep em comin
@Anthrop illogical It is best not to speak of things you dont understand and f.y.i. the freedom to call these Men Murderers was provided to you by these very same MEN.
Devon much respect from a place in the north east of England called Newcastle 🏴 you are a legend in my eyes and so is your guest on this podcast respect jc
Awesome podcast Mr. Larratt. I knew a young man, Marc Poulin, who did tours in areas you two talk about - maybe some of your colleagues knew him. Sadly his demons got too much for him and he took his and his girlfriends lives. The military did little for him and actually forbid soldiers attending his service to wear any of their uniforms. I’m proud of you guys and disgusted at the organization.
Devon, JC thanks for this. Hearing these stories from your POV really helps out. I was there with some of these stories, and my memories are shot these days, and to hear you guys talk about made it feel ok. I’d like to help out with few ideas I got going on trying to make PTSD ok. Let me know if you want to chat, 🍻
Hey! I just started watching your channel and love your enthusiasm and passion for arm wrestling and to see you shed light on another part of your life and give honor to those you served with is really comendadborale. You should write a book man, I'd read it lol
As a CAF member I gotta say, these stories are amazing. The hour flew by. I would love to hear more, maybe even about your career. I’m currently posted to CFB Kingston, and I heard you hosted the bottom 8 at Jimmys Sports Lounge. Are you planning on doing that again for 2020?
My dad was also an army medic. He usually talks about how horrible the situation in the warzone which considered normal like, shit lifestyle, shit food and dirty water, really bad restrooms, the terror of living in the jungle. But Never the real scary stuff. I think they dont want to scare us civillians too much; they are the military. They are Supposed to hide terrible things that they witnessed/happened to them from us.. God bless all of them
Keep it up bro. Nice to hear the other perspectives. I know its been about 11-12yrs, but we had the same house incident back in the day.lol Glad to see your keeping well!
You’ve turned me Into an obsessive arm wrestling psycho. I watch everything you do . And now I’m learning so much about y’all and your opponents and watch them too. Love you Devon ! Literally an idol
I love your vet content, from a fellow vet, i have a higher regard this and personal connection to this type of content. Both my and his dad hqhq apparently, Love your new podcast Dev!
Hi devon, love the vids as always, I was just checking out MMT's latest vid to see whats up and i found a comment from him saying he plans to beat you without the kings move, very interesting 🤔
This man is what I used to imagine my dad being like. To bad I'll never know because he got fired from his job as mailman after my legal father caught him playing marbles with my mother.
Devon Great show, you are great! Please get on your podcast a man who was your boss on oil field. Dean or, I'm sorry for my bad english, a guy who taught you arm wrestling. I maybe spell his name wrong and I'm sorry about that. But I really wish to see who he is. So if you get a chance to get him on the line it would be great.
My great grandfather #Odelio #Velasco was in ww2 my best friend he told me #anythingispossible and he said I can always trust the troops he was popped in the butt like #forestgump I’m glad he made it after the war is when he started his family #iamblessed he loved Cuban coffee and dominoes and not until he loaded the boat did he ever think about smoking until they handed him cigarettes as he boarded the ship he is missed... #rememberthegoodtimes one time when I was a kid he took me to the beach only thing he said was don’t swim out to far so first thing I did was swim out as far as I could the water was black and cold and deep so I dove down and touched the #seafloor cameup went out further touched did this until I couldn’t touch I came up out of breath started floating then my grandfather started yelling at me then I felt a bump w rough skin I was in horror first thing I did was yell underwater (one way to scare sharks away) on my long swim back to the shore I told god if I live I will never swim in the ocean again #ikeepmyword lucky for me sharks are #Scavengers if your not scared of the movie #jaws u should be lol

K. T. On the OkFitness podcast with Tom and Juji he goes into some depth about the time he was shot while deployed, it was really eye opening
