This is an awesome video! Thanks for the break down and review. I prefer this type of real-world test. I think sometimes lab tests miss the point, and don't account for the wide variety of ways the cutting edge is strained in real use.

Anyone who has sharpened 3V to it’s potential will fall in love with it. I didn’t understand how fine the carbides are until I stropped it after getting a bur and tried cutting paper with it after. Im still learning but 3V makes me feel like a pro!

Beautiful knife, great size and that 3V is a great steel for a fixed blade tough and holds a good edge. The wood handles are beautiful and very well sculptured. A knife this size with that scandi grind makes a great woodworking/ bushcrafting knife. Thanks for the great vid and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable.

Man that handle and the liners are pretty!. A really slicy knife for sure> Handles the ratchet strap all of em, really well. Water hoses no problems. Seems like a great woods knife and hunting/fishing knife. Great demo and great to honor JR that way> Jr way to go brother. Scab, as always great job.

I had this idea that Scandi grinds weren't effective cutters, but you've tested a few lately that knocked that misconception right out of my head. It's nice to have one fewer bad idea running around up there. Thanks!

Dand that shape looks a lot like a Condor bushlore
Really like this one. The shape reminds me of a Mora but that handle is beautiful. These 5 to 7 inch scandi ground blades can really cut. People talk about a full flat or hollow grind being best for slicing but this one hangs in there with the best of them!

First
I told you, this was begging for a test from you since day one, I'm glad you liked it!!
That being said, the steels that I would choose on a scandi edge, are the Vanadis 4 Extra, then a handforged ballbearing steel, and 3d option would be AEB-L. Those steels, if properly done, can provide the highest edge stability you can have on a knife.
Scandi edges have the least edge stability, os you need that kind of steels to support the super sharp, but fragile edge!
That's also why, I reprofile all my scandi knives to a slightly convexed edge bevel.
Removing the fatigued steel on a new knife (takes 2-3 sharpening sessions) is another important fix, that will upgrade both the edge stability and the edge retention on any (new) knife.

I don't have much in the fixed blade department, but this is very nice.
I've been looking at a few, like your lt wright video, esee, tor, condor, ontario, becker, etc., and this really stands out cause of the handle shape.
It looks like it fills up the palm nicely.
The custom stuff seems to go the extra mile on creature comforts you may not get from manufacturers.
