He rivaled Jimi Hendrix on guitar in my opinion also. He also wrote and produced every song in his catalogue. But he was not a dancer like Sammy Davis Jr. This is why between the two, I give it to Sammy for showmanship..

Stevie is still very alive and he is sometimes forgotten nowdays of what a musical genius he is - and what a great voice he has. Sammy Davis Jr is considered one of the greatest entertainers of all time. And back then - these guys like Sammy - were all about entertaining the audience and loving the audience - not bringing some wierd attitude to the stage. Sammy's life was hard growing up when he did in the 20s and 30s - but he didn't bring that to his entertaining. Nobody did - almost all big time entertainers of all colors grew up in harshtown back then.

Imagine being a typist doing it the "proper" 10 finger way for decades and then trying to master a 2-finger hunt-n-peck method but at breakneck speed like Sammy does. I met a young Australian entertainer named Angelique Cassimatis. This girl could do everything. My sister had her sing/dance/ and do some skit acting. This girl was amazing, apparently she's a big deal in Australia now. As a teen, she could pretty much do everything Tracy Ullman could do as an adult. She may end up on the "Best" list someday.

OK, I am 56 years old, play music full-time for a living as a solo Looping Artist, and I used to watch this guy back in the old days. Why is there only now am I finding out that he was a world-class drummer, percussionist, and pianist?
When my wife was 18 she flew to Vegas to see her father. (Her parents were divorced.) He was an important person in the entertainment industry in Las Vegas. He took her to a private party with some celebrities. Sammy Davis Junior was there and was a close friend of my father in law. When he met my wife he said she was a cute kid and to remember him he put his hands out and asked her to pick one of his rings for a souvenir. She felt funny taking one and said no thank you. He was ok with it and laughed. I think she regretted it for years,not for the cash value but it would have been Sammy's ring.

piano..not impressive at all, vibes not impressive at all, drums ..okay. overall very entertaining. But musically just okay. Nothing many can't easily do, myself included. BUT i can't act or sing or live in the perfect time to happen> He is special. that is true!

First time I've seen this. I've always been a fan but, wow! I wasn't expecting this. This man was so, so, talented!

@@davidsimms4508 No he didn't...Everyone loved Sammy Davis, but; if you weren't there; you don't understand...Everything Sammy did; he got from someone else...He wasn't an innovator. He was a "triple threat" though, so the industry had use for him...All the songs he sang were covers...He didn't stand above anyone...But, He did walk side by side with the greats of the era.

OK, I am 56 years old, play music full-time for a living as a solo Looping Artist, and I used to watch this guy back in the old days. Why is there only now am I finding out that he was a world-class drummer, percussionist, and pianist?
When my wife was 18 she flew to Vegas to see her father. (Her parents were divorced.) He was an important person in the entertainment industry in Las Vegas. He took her to a private party with some celebrities. Sammy Davis Junior was there and was a close friend of my father in law. When he met my wife he said she was a cute kid and to remember him he put his hands out and asked her to pick one of his rings for a souvenir. She felt funny taking one and said no thank you. He was ok with it and laughed. I think she regretted it for years,not for the cash value but it would have been Sammy's ring.
I love Frank and Dean, but wow, Sammy could do it all and extremely well! What a mountain of talent in one package!
