I remember the original backhand serve video, it helped me a lot. I use lots of variations. This one does work well with some opponents. I also try an almost all sidespin serve, if people don't forehand flick. A fast backhand serve, with lots of sidespin, can catch them out too.
Where has the time gone from those days haha And yeah you're right that it will work to some opponents, but picking the right timing will make it work more often than that. Later in a match setting where its already 2:2 or 2:1 in sets then everything becomes more robotic / instinct style so they would go for more of a chop if they think the ball is low.
I did the serve some time, since i like backhand service. But this one with the upward motion is very easy to read. A good flicker will kill you, if you do this often enough. I recommend doing a lot of heavy backspin/ ghost serves to his fh (the hardest to flick) maybe mix it up with some long fast ones to his weaker side (fh or bh) and then when around the 10point of the match, do a kicker. Especially when ppl are under stress and you served well, they tend to misaim the kicker and play it out of the table.
Yeah you're right for most parts. This only works in specific levels, but it still works :) Also if ANY serve is too easy to read then it's more of mentality to practice disguising it!
Nice :) Good stuff!! What happens after you hit the ball? Does it hit the net or goes out? Or goes wide of the table? Describe me the most common results of your technique and I’ll analyse it better :)
I'm actually slowly getting better - beat a player at our club at a club tournament 2 weeks ago that I would have told you before the match would never happen.
@@dublintabletennisclub We had a local tournament and I did beat a much better player - we both were surprised I won - he loves to hit hard and stand away from the table - I gave him short serves and short returns and stayed away from has long shots especially his wicked backhand. I played at a rated tournament a couple of weeks ago, but I played in a division much higher than my rating so I did not win any matches but it was still good experience. A number of people that I have been playing are saying that I really have improved. I try to play 4-6 times a week for at least 1 hour at a time. This "week" I plan to play 9 days in a row (starting yesterday (Sunday) and going through next Monday.
My main coaches racket is a Gewo Hybrid wood with Carbon. That is on the OFF side with Andro rubbers. C and R series for Counter-spin and Rotation to be able to control and receive my players shots :)
I like the content and the effort, but if you change your plane each 2 seconds to do a fancier video people cannot see when you are contacting the ball. You are literally changing plane at the moment of serve. Anyway, great video, big fan of your channel.
Interesting point of view. I can see the transition and pace of the video is quick, but at the same time I am very much to the point and idea of how to do it / how it looks like. There is not much "teaching" that can happen besides the contact and use of arm. Everything else is to the player training this serve.
Apologies :) Very very soon there will be English subtitles with option to translate to German so I hope that helps! But, yeah your comment is the most common I receive that I speak too fast.
I like the editing. I'm under 25. But you're slow. 2:10 and you still haven't shown anything. 2:29 is ridiculous. You covered contact point with lights and ecfects. This is ridiculous. And what the hell happened with the audio at 2:55? You're clearly focusing on the wrong stuff.
Thanks for the comment :) Yeah when filming this I keep thinking it is bit of talking and more demonstration, but all that changes in editing. I will keep that in mind going forwards!! Maybe do short voice over demonstration examples to keep it compact!

Cheers David :)
Amazing :) What ranking / points have you reached? Have you improved and start beating more players in tournaments?

What’s your current equipment setup btw?

Good tip but too much editing. Keep it simple. Easier to follow that way and lighter on eyes.
Ok :) Thank you for the note and I appreciate you saying this.

Great comment and note!! I will 100% take this on board and adjust it for the future!! Thank you :)
Kein Video zum Lernen, zu hektisch die Erklärung, mit weniger Tempo könnte man es besser verfolgen!!

The editing is so stupid. Also cutting at the critical moment when he is trying to show important point/move. Too much unnecessary editing.
Thanks for your comment :) I will for sure make a note of it for the future!
