  • Time for a change...of timing belt, long overdue (by at least 10 years). If it snaps it would cause the engine to eat itself so its critical we get it changed.
A massive thanks to Auto Alfa for replacing the belt, strong recommend if you have any work needed to be done on your Italian car.
Tickets are still available for Festival Italia (even if I can't remember the name!) www.brandshatc...

😂 Even though my HGT is a MK2B I have to agree with you on the looks. It has definitely grown on me since owning it but the MK2 was just iconic to me (especially the yellow). Refined and still looks modern with those sharp lines. The 2B felt like they took a step backwards a bit and was a mix of both, and they spoilt the rear light clusters. That said still prefer them more than most modern cars!
I got my HGT in 16 and there were about 70 or so then but despite it not being an MK2 there was no way I was leaving it. Only 48k on the clock and for 11 years old at the time it was in great condition. Just a few niggles to sort with the handbrake slipping (which was just a few of the teeth being worn down on the handle). Other bonus was the teseo blue. Whatever metallic paint they used back then was a jewel on these things. Even with just a decent wash it shines up so nicely!
Great video and look forward to seeing how you go with the gearstick. Have had the same with mine for a few years now, it is frustrating and have tried to fix with the linkages but didn't make a difference on mine unfortunately. 😮

I think the 2B changes were quick changes for new (then) EU compliance requirements (maybe for headlight height or pedestrian protection?) . It was such a drastic change, I kinda wish they took a little more time over it.
Appreciate the support, the punto community is very welcoming 😀

Yep getting really rare now. I own one of 7 original Irish Punto HGT’s and only 2 left alive. I’m going to the Nurburgring in about 2 weeks in it. These are highly underrated cars I just love mine. It’s got such good torque and revs so smoothly. I find it very hard to fault the little Punto

A Ring trip is definitely on the cards once I get the exhaust sorted. Are you recording the journey?
