They really emphasized that what Lena wanted was validation in that episode. she kept giving commands to the squad until one was deemed useful and she smirked when they validated or praised her for it, she then kept on going about how that command was really useful and shit just because they validated it once.
I want to say I clicked on this video kind of curious and kind of... knee-jerk reaction against the point you seemed to be presenting. I'm glad I did, because by the end your point of view made sense to me, and I ended up appreciating the narrative in a way I hadn't before. I do think it's something that the series will evolve from as it goes on, but is absolutely there at this point in time. Keep on bein' awesome, my dude.

Excellent video. It's good to finally see an anime effectively tackle this form of subtle racism with the nuance that the topic needs and you described that nuance perfectly.
While this could be seen as accurate it only works for seeing the first few episodes. You have an incomplete image of what your talking about so it becomes incredibly wrong
While this is a very good video viewing it from the first three episodes, this video does not hold up after those episodes. Maybe an updated video would be nice showing how she grows, how she starts to beat down her "armchair activism" to "activism through the system" (opposed to out of the system since that's not really possible in the current situation). I think some people think, even me for a moment before reminding myself, that not all armchair activists are trying to be malicious (opposed to some armchair activists IRL) and she is just simply ignorant because of the education and world she lives in, and thank god she actually realizes this later and actually does some necessary things.
I mean the video does hold up precisely BECAUSE it talks about the first 3 episodes and what they represent. Just because she evolves from a literal white liberal to an actual ally doesn't mean this particular analysis doesn't hold up.
