Isn't momo the main character?

I'm a 32yo guy and the first thing I said to my mates what a good protag Momo is. She is also emotionally very mature (hol' up). The human moments, like the end of E4, way way way better that I would have at that age. She's cares about other for real, but is still a teenage girl who wants to be perceived as a cool gyaru. I can't wait for more Dandadan, and it's been a long time since I've also NEVER skipped the OP.

My guy Momo is really dynamic in a lot of things. Sure It's something fresh but not reaching the top yet. You can''t compare Momo with only small portion of girls in anime you watched or red. Watch Kakegurui, Mushoko Tensei, Kiznaiver, Haikyuu, Etc. there's a lot of female characters there that beats Momo in a lot of things. Do more research for your reviews. I'm not bullying or anything this is criticizing. You can glaze all you want but Momo is still far from the competition of being the best girl in anime

Idk about the GT slander there. Goku show that he cares for the people of earth a lot when he was teleporting everybody to Baby's planet to save everybody from earth's destruction, he was excited about fighting the Shadow Dragons, naive enough to believe it's his fault when Bulma said it is and heroic enough to take the responsibility. He is goofy at times, even when he turns Super Saiyan 4 (he swallowed a Dragon Ball.) he can be serious at times, even when he is in his kid form. GT Goku, might be most fully realized mature version of Goku. maybe it's another english dub adaptation problem? cause you even did a comparasion about metal of the 90's and GT, which, the soundtrack in the english dub is very metal-like, but in the japanese dub, is very melancholic and try to get in your feels. GT have always been misunderstood in the west, specially with the english dub adapting things very weirdly. but it seens like GT interpretation of Goku falls in the same category.

I was one of those adults who hated the funimation Dub. But I was not one of those guys who claimed goku was selfish and not a good person! Goku is not selfish and he is a good person and he is a hero according to the original manga

Goku is my favorite character in all of Dragon Ball, likely because when my Dad introduced me to the series, he first exposed me to the original Dragon Ball anime. There was really something about this pure and simple martial artist collecting Dragon Balls and helping people, not because he was trying to be a hero necessarily, but because he was just a good kid that was really appealing. When I watched Z (and then rewatched it through Kai during my HS years) it was gratifying to see that good kid grown into a man who, while still not TRYING to be a super hero, still stood up for what was right against villainous fighters simply because he’s still a good dude who loves to fight but doesn’t approve of people abusing their powers. Not a super hero, but even chill dudes can have a hatred for injustice. As much as I enjoyed Super, it’s portrayal of Goku felt bipolar in that there were moments of Goku being a badass mixed in with moments of Goku being WAY dumber than he was ever before, which did bother me. Daima feels like a return to form when it comes to writing Goku as a character. He’s not trying to be a super hero per se, but he’s simply a good dude who loves to fight. So of course he’ll still try to fight evil doers in Demon Realm… he’s still a dude with strong morals given that Grandpa Gohan raised him. All in all, people portray Goku as two extremes, extremely dumb or Superman clone… but the truth is, Goku is somewhere in the middle. He’s not dumb in the sense he lacks common sense, he was just raised in the wilderness so his social graces aren’t always great, and while he has good morals and hates injustice… he’s not necessarily trying to be the hope of the universe, he just becomes that because he just hates people doing bad things. Goku is, somewhere in the middle between the two extremes, and Daima has showed that well.

I don’t consider abridged cannon at all lol it’s just for laughter. I do however agree that they can tone down the comedic content displayed by Goku in Super. Daima seems to be portraying him right so far but I wonder if it’s also because he’s a little kid in it. PS: just realized Goku (base form) whether adult or kid in GT is super tanned but pale when in SSJ4 lol.

I wish people would stop blaming abridged for people’s misconceptions about goku.

Goku never said he didn't understand babies, he said he didn't understand what kissing got to do with it. And since he rarely spends any time with ChiChi its not really all that heard to believe that they rarely kissed and he doesn't associate kissing with having babies....because to an alien, one has nothing to do with the other. And you are not seriously arguing that this toddler goku is smarter than super goku? He was just acting goofy and happy go lucky in super while here, he is a full blown toddler, eating candy and jumping around the demon realm like it's an amusement park.

Also bro you dont know anything about Dragon ball. You said dragon ball wasn't known before DBZ but that's only true for western audiences. Goku was already huge in japan, when westerners only started to discover about Dragon ball.

Fixed? You mean by making the same mistake as GT and regressing his character, making him dumber and more kid like at the same time. Daima Goku is for kindergardners bro. Not to mention Goku in Daima literally confirms he was a bad parent and was not present (he implies for both children) even tho we know he was a good dad at least to Gohan. So Daima is doing more character ass----ion on Goku.

This explains it perfectly. As I started watching Dandadan, I saw all these features I've seen before in other shonen male characters but, somehow, it was very different. Thankfully, many people (you included) covered this issue of why Dandadan is breaking records and why everyone likes the story and characters so much. Even if you go through each and every character one by one, you get these outstanding messages and inspirational feelings that have evolved into even better versions in cases like anime veterans (like myself), we have seen for a long time. But it now looks like Dandadan just perfected every aspect over time. Okarun is really a wonderful MC. Maybe not at the level of MCs and animes that marked people's childhood like One Piece or Dragon Ball, but it's still incredible. Thanks a lot for the video, I liked it and a lot more people should watch it! ❤👍

Hey man. Nice video. One thing that I like about Okarun is that he has the kit of a main character. The powers and the motives but he’s still not presented as one. Momo is our main character as the story feels like it mainly comes from her perspective, so it’s really interested to let him take a back seat in the regard even with how cool he is on paper. It’s a very subtle part of his character that I think goes a long way

So, you're not watching the new show because they had a change in the law which put him in the wrong. Note, brotha. I hear you of separating culture and artist, but if that's your hang up, dude... you might want to get into something else besides anime. I've watched and own all the old stuff, love it (except the third season was weak sauce) and focus on the art and story with the substance of the media that is being consumed. I agree with you that piled chorn is wrong, but to hold one mark over an entire piece of artwork is a bit much, don't you think? If you get into the vast majority of cultural stars; musicians, painters, SM stars, etc. I'm sure you would probably find some mark on their character that would be like Watsuki. The point that I'm trying to get at is to boycott something just because you don't like one thing that goes on behind the scenes is a little too far for me. Respect for putting up your thoughts.

that ep was not that deep LMAO, I mean, IT IS deep and sad but the way they animated that dont even make a tear drop, and it wasn't even close to other sad anime scenes, like seeing Naruto as a child crying in the playground makes you sadder than this episode

From reading that part to seeing it i was shredding tears. That's why love dandadan It tell a such simple story so masterfully. Every character from yoki to Alien makes you feel so much.
