Used to be a great night out down West Street back in the day. Had a friend who worked in Varsity who'd always sneak us a couple of free shots. Good times.
Lived In Edward street just behind west street. Past by this street almost every single day In 2009. I only recognise the Cavendish, Tesco and nandos. Everything else seems to have changed. Great lively street at night 👍
I was born in Handsworth, Sheffield in 1949; I worked in the Employment Exchange on West Street in 1972 which isn't there anymore, but I don't know it that well because I moved overseas in the late 1970's.
West street is always regarded as unpleasently busy, a bit dirty, even dangerous (at night for instance), but i love the stroll to tescos during lunch break at uni, and it's always nice to pass through west street on the bus. It's got this nice compactness about it, a bit of everything right in the centre of town.
You should've seen/known it before tram started going down it. It was the red light area, if you were going to do a mum diss you would say you saw them on West Street.
I worked at the university for 40 yrs ,the number of times l walked down West Street . It changed with the times but still the scaffolding is up , for as long as I remember there's always been scaffolding on West Street.
I’m a sheffielder born and bread , Great video 💯👏west street great place to go and maybe you might do the street that runs parallel with it division street another great place to go💯
When I lived on Upper Hanover Street this was my regular pub crawl on a Saturday night. Starting in the Bath Hotel and ending in the Saddle Inn (when did that disappear? ). On a good night we might make it to the Buckaneer? on Leopold Street then across the street to a pub in a little courtyard (I can't remember what it was called) Late 60s early 70s

I used to live in bow house, west street for a year an a half. I missed those days and i hope to go back there soon. 💚

I remember the Saddle Inn, and the Buccaneer because my friends and I used to go there quite often.
Nice comments on this vid i think the tram has spoiled west street though but that's Sheffield council for you
We don't do Sheffield Council moaning on here - save that for the moaning facebook groups
