A Mario game review on the day before Sonic's birthday? I'm disappointed in you Johnny.... lol jk. Oh well, nothing's more memorable than that vibrating scepter xxx.. or whatever it was that Princess Peach had in her room.
i just always assumed due to it being 3 letters it was peach's bra(which would be pretty eye popping for mario considering you could see her panties in brawl.)
Before I say anything else, let me just say: "Damn! That was a tough choice!" Even though I chose Earthbound in your straw poll, I'm actually really happy that viewers picked Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars as the next review. Seeing as how your opinions of the game were heavily based around the idea that it's good for first-time RPG players, having this game reviewed before the others made sense. Good on all of your viewers for making a smart decision! Nice review, Johnny!
Don't be concerned with the vocal minority that are the Sticker Star and Color Splash haters- they're the minority for a reason! They have no idea what they're talking about! As a true fan who's favourite game of all-time is TTYD but who has also played all the other games in the series, I also happen to love Sticker Star and especially Color Splash! They're still not the best games in the series (that honour still goes to TTYD), but they're both underrated gems that are MUCH better games then the whiny, fake "fans" say they are! I've played Sticker Star at least 15 times since I bought it years ago, and I've enjoyed it every time! Something I've learned over the years is that those whiny, pathetic excuse of an idiot fan base are just that- idiots, who make themselves seem larger than they actually are! They should also never be taken seriously! If you have to deal with them, hostility is the best way! I try and encourage others to do the same if necessary!
+BigAlvideos101 Sticker Star and Color Splash aren’t completely awful, they just lack the true fundamentals of a good Paper Mario game. However, Color Splash has the best writing in the series.
Really? For me it was more like: Mario: The Mario. Mallow: A worse Geno. Geno: The Insta-Kill for all mooks and grunts. Peach: The I-Win-Button Bowser: Left collecting dust.
Tbh i mostly stuck around with mario, geno and peach. I rarely used Mallow tho. But when i started playing the game and when i unlocked Bowser,i actully thought he was good,he was mario's support. But when i got the Jinx Belt and lazy shell stuff, well he became useless. So i switched to Geno and found out how OP HE FREAKING IS.
I am really surprised that Johnny didn't bring up the fact he was in the game as a Shark Pirate that gives Mario a star.(There is infact a Johnny in Mario RPG)
My first RPG was Dragon Warrior, but this was the first RPG I saw through to completion. It taught me the real reason we play the genre at all: the story. I don't know that, without it, I would have consumed as many fifth gen RPGs as I did. Super Mario RPG was the transitional game that taught me there was more to a game than trudging through all the levels toward a "you win" screen.
Rachel the Seeker Well, you do need both to make a great RPG. You need a complex but workable battle system AND a story that creates characters and has them struggle.
Very cool! I love me some Mario RPG's, especially the Mario & Luigi series. Love to see SGB tackle that someday. So let's see, the next Mario marathon will likely cover Yoshi's Island, Mario 64, Sunshine, Galaxy and Galaxy 2? I like!
You know I wouldn't mind seeing another Mario RPG like this on the WiiU, but maybe instead of going for this top down 3D perspective they could make it all 3D as kind of a tribute to the evolution of RPGs over the years.
I think in order to make a sequel to feel truly faithful, Square should hire the team behind Octopath and Triangle Strategy to give it the same 2D-HD feel as the original.
"johnny", as some call you, you have an amazing talent for reviewing games, your word choice is selective and deep, you always put in so much detail and make anyone feel like they've played the game, and you have these hilarious moments which i cannot help but crack up to. I honestly wish you had more subscribers because you deserve it for the time, effort, and quality of each and every one of your videos. you, honestly, are one of my favorite channels(2nd to AVGN) and i always take time to watch your videos.
The fact that flower points are shared was one dynamic adding strategy to battle, and one reason I did not have Peach heal every turn regardless of damage level. I made good use of all the characters.
Also, the pose Mario strikes while holding up a star in this game REEEEEALLY ominously looks like Modern Mario... Maybe THAT's how the modern mario model was born?
00:08 This is exactly where we're at right now and where I was back in 1996 play Super Mario RPG with a friend. Now we're getting a remake later this year, and I'm gonna get on my SNES Mini and play the game this summer.
Squarion I just found Mallow to be the most annoying distraction honestly, and Geno was alright, yes but man... He just felt like, ehh........... ehh... ok.
He briefly played Awakening during his big live stream. Since it is the entry level Fire Emblem game, he said if he likes Awakening, he will jump into the rest of the series.
That'd be awesome... I lurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrv Fire Emblem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The one HUGE problem I have with this game is that once you get to a certain point in the castle thing in nimbus island, Mallow won't let you leave. Meaning that if you're too under leveled for the fight with Valetina, you're basically stuck with grinding against monsters that give you little exp at that point in the game.
MentalWyro For me forest maze was simple i just fulowd Geno and when i didnt se him i would just go to the left becouse an toad told me i would find a goodiie (sorry for bad english)
I got lost there my first time as well. Yeah, it's obvious that you're supposed to follow Geno but the general design is just filled with dead ends and confusing passageways and unless you've played this game a lot it can be hard to tell what is a passageway into another room and what isn't.
The only big plus I can say for the Mario RPG games are a much better story than the main Mario games. Sure, Peach is kidnapped most of the time in the RPGs, but you have more than that, and that's why I like the Mario and Luigi series so much because of its humour (not really Dream Team, but still a solid game).
3D mario games Marathon, I called it first. Definitely, What I just said is 100% Truth. Nope, no way I got this wrong. I am very correct about this thing that I just said.
SMRPG was my first turn based role playing game and while the combat is simple and veteran RPG players might get bored, it way more than makes up for it with humor. I often wish we'd get another game like SMRPG. No offense to the Paper Marios or Mario and Luigis but I'd love to see another epic Square/Nintendo collab then again, given the stuff we've seen of Final Fantasy, I don't want a Mario RPG where all you do is walk down corridors to the next cutscene.
Playing Super Mario RPG as a little kid was amazing. It was the first game I ever beat without help and I love it to this day. It's still one of the most exciting RPGs ever made even with the simplistic battles. As much as I love final fantasy, the only exciting elements are the story sequences. The battles are fun and challenging but I understand why a lot people don't like standard RPGs.
The game can be easy, but I think that and the characters themselves are what made me enjoy the game back when I was little. And for a first Mario RPG, I think it was good attempt. As for the battle system, especially for Mario, not having much variety like other RPGs, I think it was because they didn't want to introduce a power that most people didn't already know Mario had. Every Mario fan knows that Mario can jump and shoot fire(with the right power-up) But regardless, I think it was a nice first job. And that they are clearly learning to improve not just the battle system but also the characters and their interactions with each other. Like for example Bowser's inside story. I love how the battle mechanics worked in that game, and also how even though Mario and Luigi for the most part speak in grunts but you can still easily make out what they mean. Also very good video and short analysis on the game, Johnny.
My first RPG and still my favorite. Love the writing, love the character, love the graphics, love the music. I can't get enough of it and Geno SHOULD be in the new Smash.
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars is the best Mario game ever made! It is a damn shame Nintendo never made a true sequel or remade it for the new gaming eras.
He forgot to mention that when you use items such as the Flower Tab and Flower Jar, regardless of how much FP you had before, it would all be restored to full, and those Flower items would add on extra flower points as well, so if you space out consumption, you may never even need the Syrups outside of battle.
I'm surprised there's no mention of the Bruce Lee reference or the cameo appearances of other Nintendo characters, including a certain bounty hunter. But I shan't complain. Great review as always.
Ya know, it would be great if you did a Mario RPG marathon. I know that RPGs aren't too easy to review quickly, but most Mario RPGs don't last too long in comparison to most. I'd like to hear what you think of Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi in detail, since you've mentioned them plenty of times on Brainscratch.
I wanna see Johny review some more ''modern'' games, like ones of the PS2 era. Games i grew up with. Such as Devil May Cry 3, Kingdom Hearts series,Jak series,SSX,Rayman,Crash Twinsanity (although he did review the original PS1 trilogy which is way better). I mean he has reviewed Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog, he should go for more PS2 titles.
This is legit one of those "perfect" video games. It is accessible to the point where I truly believe everyone can pick it up and play it. The best part is how during combat, you can press a button to perform a more effective action; I truly wish more non-Mario RPGs had this component, because I really think it makes the gameplay vastly more engaging than the average RPG. I can't tell you how many times I've played it in my life, probably well over a dozen times. I get that it's not the deepest, most nuanced RPG out there, but you know, I'm not always in the mood to play a 50-hour epic like Final Fantasy 9 or whatever. Sometimes, I want something light and fun, and Super Mario RPG is that to a tee. If you've never played it before, you really need to give it a try. It's well worth checking out at least once in your life.
Okay, according to Johnny's remarks on the battle system I must be doing something wrong, because I can't beat that damn wedding cake in Merrymore. (It's even more annoying that I have to repeatedly button-mash my way through the cutscenes just to try again.) However, none of my party members have hit a double-digit level yet… is that normal, or am I better off starting a new game at this point?
I remember watching my roommate play this back in college. It only took him three days to finish it. I will have to eventually tackle this game someday. Also, excited to see Yoshi's Island in the future.
you sir clearly dont have good taste in an actual good storyline. Dont get me wrong i love this game but Earthbound is my top favorite of all time. Try telling this to one of the biggest fanbases in all videogame history
If you had to compare Super Mario RPG to Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, which do you think would be better to use as an example to get new people into the RPG genre? I am a seasoned RPGer, so I personally lean towards Mystic Quest. The Mario RPG seems as if it's trying to bring the younger audience into the genre.
Funny because I describe that with FF:MC. Now if we are talking about the numbered FF series then yes there is a ton of depth and strategy, but we're not talking about the main series.
Mystic Quest is better representative of RPG tropes. If they start out with a platforming game / comedy like Super Mario RPG, they may like that, but find they don't like other RPG's.
AnotherIMS It was a joke, as per reference to the fact that Yes: MANY PEOPLE (myself included) wanted Geno in Brawl. I also wouldn't mind him in the next game too, but as already stated, I don't think Square Enix will be dipping their fingers in this pie.
Whenever I play this game, I make sure that at least half of my items are Pick Me Ups, which are this game's version of a Phoenix Down, only with full HP recovery along with the revival. It's kind of a safety precaution I take before I get Princess Peach. Johnny's right about her healing abilities. They come in handy.
Looks like we may be getting a Round 2 video for this game now.
I came back here because I just learned that the remake was coming soon 🤙🏾
Right I may get the remake. I never played the original
Maybe after that he can review some other mario rpg games
Holy moley.
That or just a flat out re-review with John's new review style (plus maybe going more with plot)
Damn do I wanna see Square and Nintendo give this one official go around again
blease nintendo remake this game i beg of you
Paper mario
OH HELL TO THE FUCKING YEAH, SQUARE ROCKS WITH GAMES LIKE SUPER MARIO RPG, KINGDOM HEARTS AND FINAL FANTASY ROCK!!!!
Maybe a crossover between Mario, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Mana, Kingdom Hearts and Chrono.
EJ Elec Flame Tails Holy fucking shit, that sounds like the epitome of grandiose ideas!!!!!
Paper Mario Marathon.
Calling it now.
Anyhow, this game looks pretty sweet.
This game is what started the paper Mario series. This is my favorite game of all time
you called WRONG son
NickonAquaMagna I'm actually wanting to see a review of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.
+Hpeathgtslx.
Zmxxa Wilson ..ok by.
He didn't do it.
Oh, now I feel stupid for not knowing what RPG meant.
No, not the weapon.
Yeah I know how u feel
i only ever knew what the g meant.
role-playing grenade? rocket propelled game?
***** No, Ridiculous Pencil Grabbing.
Role-playing game C-C-C-Combo Breaker
Super Mario RPG has a severe lack of rocket launchers.
***** Link!
+Darkstar Pain Train!!!
***** lol I find this funny because the great clement is Lets Playing it right now.
***** :)
Rember you cant spell ignorance with out ign

Good on all of your viewers for making a smart decision! Nice review, Johnny!
So when is "Johnny vs. Paper Mario" or "Johnny vs. Mario and Luigi" coming?
I beg you Johnny, please tackle these amazing series of Mario RPGs
I dread the Sticker Star and Color Splash reviews mainly with what the comments will be like
Yeah, Johnny. If nothing else, AT LEAST cover Bowser's Inside Story!
Don't be concerned with the vocal minority that are the Sticker Star and Color Splash haters- they're the minority for a reason! They have no idea what they're talking about! The best one is the first mario and Luigi game.
+BigAlvideos101 Sticker Star and Color Splash aren’t completely awful, they just lack the true fundamentals of a good Paper Mario game. However, Color Splash has the best writing in the series.
Surprising how the remake was announced almost exactly 9 years from this upload
YOU ALL KNOW WHY YOU'RE HERE. SEE YOU FOR ROUND 2, JOHNNY!!
Jesus, the Geno thing has been going on since Brawl? No wonder people are getting antsy about it.
Geno for smash!
yea youd think theyd shut their mouths by now
...and they're about to get a _whole_ lot more antsy now.
Geno is finally getting that HD return to form 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Absolute joy to come home and see this after a long day. Keep up the good work Johnny :)
Geno is STILL one of the most requested characters for Smash Bros.
2 years later and I can confirm he still is.
Sephiroth killed him. Go tell everyone.
still is. The salt is widespread.
Say sike rn
He will never be in smash now
you nailed those summer rpg feels at the beginning of the video.
I see the characters like this:
Mario - The All Arounder
Mallow- Magical DPS
Geno - Physical and Magical DPS
Bowser - Tank
Peach - Healer
Hey that sounds like a good overwatch team with one leaver
Really? For me it was more like:
Mario: The Mario.
Mallow: A worse Geno.
Geno: The Insta-Kill for all mooks and grunts.
Peach: The I-Win-Button
Bowser: Left collecting dust.
Mario: The All-Around Fighter
Mallow: The average one
Geno: The best one
Peach: The OP Healer
Bowser: the worst one
Tbh i mostly stuck around with mario, geno and peach. I rarely used Mallow tho. But when i started playing the game and when i unlocked Bowser,i actully thought he was good,he was mario's support. But when i got the Jinx Belt and lazy shell stuff, well he became useless. So i switched to Geno and found out how OP HE FREAKING IS.
I beated Smithy with Geno and bowser on my party
"Getting lost in this game is an impossibility"
Forest Maze, enough said.
Why dose everyone say Forrest Maze is confusing its really not
I got through it within like 8 minutes. It's not that difficult.
I know everyone is bitching about "oh i dont know were i am going its to difficult" its not that hard.
Follow Geno. Once he stops appearing, pay attention to arrow trajectory. Easy.
I can't be the only one that rewatches this for the plot opener.
Month of Mario 2 confirmed! Thank God, I was waiting a long time for this.
It has been confirmed for quite some time now...
I guess I'm the only one sadistic enough to actually sit through the 06 Very Hard playthrough.
Darkstar Oh I saw it too, I'm just glad to know we're getting it pretty soon.
Darkstar I saw it too.
After all this time why did he wait so long?
I am really surprised that Johnny didn't bring up the fact he was in the game as a Shark Pirate that gives Mario a star.(There is infact a Johnny in Mario RPG)

Rachel the Seeker Well, you do need both to make a great RPG. You need a complex but workable battle system AND a story that creates characters and has them struggle.
All they need now is a Mario and Luigi game with Wario
No
Luigi the smash king Yes
Yeah!!!!
+Carl Bloke That's not something I'd recommend, but I like the idea.
Rebel Page what are you talking about? It has to happen
Very cool! I love me some Mario RPG's, especially the Mario & Luigi series. Love to see SGB tackle that someday. So let's see, the next Mario marathon will likely cover Yoshi's Island, Mario 64, Sunshine, Galaxy and Galaxy 2? I like!
13:03
Welp, he finally did it.
You know I wouldn't mind seeing another Mario RPG like this on the WiiU, but maybe instead of going for this top down 3D perspective they could make it all 3D as kind of a tribute to the evolution of RPGs over the years.
You mean another Paper Mario?
Idunnoyouguessit I'm talking Mario Galaxy 3D.
***** But, it'd be so easy to cheese the enemies. :c
Luigi stayed home to do the Laundry and practice with his Marching Band. Thats why he wasnt a partner
This game has an amazing soundtrack
Especially the forest maze
Super Mario RPG is phenomenal in general. YEAH, I SAID IT!!!!!
Yeah, I love that piece.
One of the few Super Nintendo OSTs that is sex to my ears. :D
We need a johnny vs paper mario series
This was two years ago. Time flys by fast.
This was not two years ago. Oh god what did seventh grade do to my time.
It was lmao
oh god i feel old
This comment was one year ago.
I just saw it.
Another solid review, Johnny! This game is incredibly amazing. So glad you were able to tackle it.
Shows steam, then Final Fantasy 6 formally known in the US as Final Fantasy 3...
Half Life 3 confirmed.
confirmed...as in it will take a long while or never to come out lol
Xanderstrife
Indeed, till then let the silly jokes continue!
indeed lol
Lol half life 3 is kind of doomed
lol yeah just a after thought
The fact that flower points are shared was one dynamic adding strategy to battle, and one reason I did not have Peach heal every turn regardless of damage level. I made good use of all the characters.
Super Mario Rpg Remake announced!
Also, the pose Mario strikes while holding up a star in this game REEEEEALLY ominously looks like Modern Mario... Maybe THAT's how the modern mario model was born?
Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story Is The Best RPG, And One Of The Greatest Video Games To Me.
00:08 This is exactly where we're at right now and where I was back in 1996 play Super Mario RPG with a friend. Now we're getting a remake later this year, and I'm gonna get on my SNES Mini and play the game this summer.
I always hated Geno and Mallow, but Mallow alot more.
I say Geno stayed where he needed.
Gen and Mallow made great additions to the Mario franchise Imo, wish we got to see more of them.
Squarion
I just found Mallow to be the most annoying distraction honestly, and Geno was alright, yes but man... He just felt like, ehh........... ehh... ok.
but proto.....geno for smash
If only a remake of this game happened for the 3DS one day...
Even the 3D can be used to make the game even better.
the beginning part is accurate to me along side the" before the on coming sun rise makes u realize u f#@ked up
Hopefully even though I know he hasn't touched one yet, I would like to see you tackle a Fire Emblem game
He briefly played Awakening during his big live stream. Since it is the entry level Fire Emblem game, he said if he likes Awakening, he will jump into the rest of the series.
Actually, he started FE:A during his Really Big Stream.
jdfalcon08 he will like it am currently playing the very first one and its pretty advance for a Gameboy game to honest.
oh I see I didn't watch the stream but I did remember he has Awakening, it would be cool if he does
That'd be awesome... I lurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrv Fire Emblem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yay now that I know you find geno in the second chapter I will go watch more of Chugga's lets play on this game!
The one HUGE problem I have with this game is that once you get to a certain point in the castle thing in nimbus island, Mallow won't let you leave. Meaning that if you're too under leveled for the fight with Valetina, you're basically stuck with grinding against monsters that give you little exp at that point in the game.
He is gonna review yoshi's island for the SNES first in his marathon. His desktop background at the end of the video was the title screen for the game
Two weeks away till the remake can’t wait! Been a fan of John’s since 2008, I hope he reviews the remake
WHAT ABOUT KID ICARUS UPRISING! You even mentioned it as one of the games you were going to get around to
Super Mario RPG is what Sonic 06 should've been when it comes to Story.
Getting lost in this game is an impossibility?
Edit... Updated Dislikers:
Tell that to the 58 dislikers who got stuck in Forest Maze... =P
+MentalWyro I'd intentionally get lost in there just to listen to that music.
+dynelol Same
91 as of 12/30/17. Damn.
MentalWyro For me forest maze was simple i just fulowd Geno and when i didnt se him i would just go to the left becouse an toad told me i would find a goodiie (sorry for bad english)

You should review Paper Mario the thousand year door or make a Paper mario marathon
I also want to see him review Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door.
yeah he should review it

This vid is a great example of how thorough a reviewer Johnny is. One of my favorite reviewers ever. =)
3D mario games Marathon, I called it first. Definitely, What I just said is 100% Truth. Nope, no way I got this wrong. I am very correct about this thing that I just said.
LeatherIceCream well i mean
You are right
I'm calling it now. Johnny's next marathon is a mario sports marathon.
Put speed on 1.25 for classic SomecallmeJohnny.
What? Did he talk fast before or something?
Eathams Yeah, kinda. It'll usually happen when he was explaining the story, elements of the game, items or collectibles, etc.
SMRPG was my first turn based role playing game and while the combat is simple and veteran RPG players might get bored, it way more than makes up for it with humor. We're getting old! 👴
That wallpaper at the end... Yoshi's Island review confirmed?!
Johnny vs Paper Mario TTYD. PLEASE MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!!
... cool! I was just watching your Metroid reviews, and I check my SB and a new review... finally
I hope that BrainScratchComms tackles this game sometime in the somewhat near future.
"Meanwhile the sky is blue, humans breath oxygen to survive, and jimmy hofta is yet to be found!" I lost it at that point XD!
ikr
A marathon? "This isn't the last we'll see of Mario."? Is this gonna be a 3D Mario marathon?
He forgot to mention that when you use items such as the Flower Tab and Flower Jar, regardless of how much FP you had before, it would all be restored to full, and those Flower items would add on extra flower points as well, so if you space out consumption, you may never even need the Syrups outside of battle.
Round 2 ?
the beginning pretty much sums up my summers
Yo John what are your thoughts on the mario and luigi series
0:28 That just happened to me recently with a final fantasy XV
Easily one of my favorite RPGs.
I'm surprised there's no mention of the Bruce Lee reference or the cameo appearances of other Nintendo characters, including a certain bounty hunter. But I shan't complain. Great review as always.
"Johnny vs. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars" insta like
I love your reviews Johnny, but I'm glad you're taking a break. It's good to do that once in a while. :)
I really want Johnny to review the starfox series
Ya know, it would be great if you did a Mario RPG marathon. I know that RPGs aren't too easy to review quickly, but most Mario RPGs don't last too long in comparison to most.
"you know, its like taking the mainstream mario series, and making it into a role playing game" nah buddy that doesnt happen till the wii
Paper Mario TYD & Super Star Saga >>>>>>
super star saga is my favorite gba game and one of my favorite games ever
I remember watching my roommate play this back in college. It only took him three days to finish it. I will have to eventually tackle this game someday. Also, excited to see Yoshi's Island in the future.
Mario RPG won? OHHHHHH HELLLL YEAH.
This was my first RPG at age 9 or 10. Great review I love your stuff!
Earthbound has been reviewed to death and it is overrated IMO, I'm glad he reviewed this.
earthbound is perfect and I have seen little reviews
Aidan Stokes Hence the IMO.
you sir clearly dont have good taste in an actual good storyline. Dont get me wrong i love this game but Earthbound is my top favorite of all time. Try telling this to one of the biggest fanbases in all videogame history
Blackmage FiftyFive the fanbase isn't that big though, just loud and outspoken. this isn't a bad thing though, don't get me wrong
I guess youre right.
The first Johnny episode I ever sat down and watched
If you had to compare Super Mario RPG to Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, which do you think would be better to use as an example to get new people into the RPG genre?
I am a seasoned RPGer, so I personally lean towards Mystic Quest. The Mario RPG seems as if it's trying to bring the younger audience into the genre.
HEHEHEHEY

Super Mario RPG. There is enough depth to the point that tactics, strategy, and thinking are required. Mystic Quest has none of those.
Funny because I describe that with FF:MC. Now if we are talking about the numbered FF series then yes there is a ton of depth and strategy, but we're not talking about the main series.
I do believe I will take option C: Earthbound
Mystic Quest is better representative of RPG tropes. If they start out with a platforming game / comedy like Super Mario RPG, they may like that, but find they don't like other RPG's.
This is old news, but this game is included in the SNES Classic Mini.
I did not know that! I hope this game comes to SNES Online! :)
He's gonna marathon the 3D Mario platformers.

You forgot about 3D World.
yu aren't you supposed to be solving a murder mystery
Maxwell Bosserman Pretty sure he already solved it.
+marplatense31 3D land as well
I loved this game as a kid. I think it's the only RPG I've ever completed multiple times.
GENO FOR BRAWL, DAMMIT! *Cries*
***** Yeah, I know. A boy can dream, can't he?
Brawl?
AnotherIMS It was a joke, as per reference to the fact that Yes: MANY PEOPLE (myself included) wanted Geno in Brawl. I also wouldn't mind him in the next game too, but as already stated, I don't think Square Enix will be dipping their fingers in this pie.
Geno isn't owned by square Enix anymore he is now owned by alphadream (maybe Nintendo) and they are planning to bring him back
It amazes me how much Johnny's old reviews still old up today
before the rising sun reminded how much you fucked up lmao love that joke juan
+Jesus Serrano it is not
+Jesus Serrano Not even the slightest bit.
+Jesus Serrano How is this anything like Pokemon?
+ElecmanEXE99 Well, both are RPGs...
The Mario&Luigi games were my childhood
0:28 that exactly how my summers are
Whenever I play this game, I make sure that at least half of my items are Pick Me Ups, which are this game's version of a Phoenix Down, only with full HP recovery along with the revival. It's kind of a safety precaution I take before I get Princess Peach. Johnny's right about her healing abilities. They come in handy.
