  • Solaris did not gain a foothold in the Netherlands for a long time. This came to an end in 2017 with the purchase of 40 articulated Solaris Urbino buses by Connexxion (Transdev). These buses were deployed on the R-NET lines in the Amstelland-Meerlanden area, south of Amsterdam. It was clear from the start that these buses would remain temporary pending the arrival of electric buses. With the exception of 6 buses, these buses were returned to the factory in 2021. The 6 remaining copies were driven in white in the IJsselmond region north of Zwolle. They disappeared there at the end of 2023 when EBS took over transport there. From the end of 2023, the new operating area will be the Veluwe-Zuid region where Transdev operates under the name. In 2018, Connexxion purchased four identical buses for North Holland North for rush hour journeys and the line from Den Helder Station to the Boot ferry terminal to Texel. One specimen from this series followed its peers to IJsselmond and Veluwe-Zuid. Since 2018, two articulated Solaris Urbino CNG buses have been operating on the island of Texel.
In the Hoeksche Waard - Goeree-Overflakkee region, Connexxion/Transdev has been operating 20 Solaris Urbino Hydrogen buses since 2021.
Arriva will also purchase a series of 10 hydrogen buses for the Achterhoek region in 2021. A fire that destroyed the first bus shortly after delivery caused a delay in putting it into service. These buses will come into service from 2022.
