4:14 My man, Ken's tatsumaki input is only quarter circle back.
This is just proof that even with the internet and the game itself listing the moves in the menus people still cant get anything right about the shotos

@@RamonAlonsoLopezMartinez I think some, at least one, of the command move listings are wrong. For example, Tatsumaki Senpukyaku is listed as a half circle backwards and a when it only requires a quarter circle backwards. A half circle will work but only because it ends with a quarter circle.
Imagine akuma being a dlc character for dlc pack 2...
Even if that's clearly not gonna happen i still hope for Akuma or Chun Li to join the game...
I mean imagine Shun Goku Satsu as a cutscene final smash like Joker's where it has a different win effect

After playing Ken since week 2 of release, lemme give you the REAL run down:
- Practice inputs
- Combo into shoryuken
- Mix up recovery
Congratulations! You have graduated from the Ken learning academy!
Jokes aside, that basically what it all boils down to. More specific information in the reply section.
*Inputs:*
I dont know where he got all the numbers and stuff but honestly I find it easiest to just remember a shape and a motion. (Edit: These numbers are actually used in lots of traditional fighting games, so thats where they come from. Still though, I prefer to remember shapes. Easier for me at least)
- Z for shoryuken
- Quarter circle for tatsu, hadoken and cresent kick
- Half circle for roundhouse
Using input specials opens up a lot more combos and shoryuken specifically becomes actually busted. It does way too much damage and knockback. And since like half his moveset comboes into it, you'll be worrying more about if the multihits connect than actually getting punished for using it.
*Game Plan:*
Neutral is impossible to explain, but basically Ken excels at close range and gets huge rewards off of reads. And again shoryuken is broken so use it often. Just make sure you have your combos down or else the character kinda flops altogether.
*Recovery:*
Ken has a pretty bad disadvantage state, but dont worry, he does have options to escape it.
Down special is a great way to land as long as your opponent doesnt have a multihit and they aren't playing Ganondorf. (Ganon smashes beat focus' armor)
Side special can be used to recover to ledge or can be combined with a jump to do a Snake style ultra high recovery.
Shoryuken has a huge hitbox, so it beats out most ledge traps, except counters because it will trigger them and it doesnt easily snap to ledge.
Rinse and repeat the process of combo, shoryuken, and mixing up recovery and you'll be making highlight reels in no time.
The numbers are from Games such as Jojoba. Where they use number rotation.
You realise that Shoryuken is not very consistent in killing right? Yes at higher percents it is a better tool for kill but usually roundhouse close or near to the ledge is usually a better option as it is much harder to DI.
The biggest thing ken players need to do is LAB. Practice combos and learn new ones and then soon enough they’ll learn how to incorporate those combos into their playstyle and in neutral/advantage
@@Keshav-il2hp Yes, if you DI shoryuken properly kills much later. But "much later" for Ken is usually still just a hit into true shoryu at 90-100%.
Also I dont rely too heavily on roundhouse for kills because by the time I reach kill percent I used it so much for combo damage that it's pretty stale. But every now and then, I'll use it as a di mixup for shoryuken.

The man who play in the vid dont know combos with ken and too up tilt link to cresent heavy jab shoryu but not with smash you can one low tilt one hard tilt into cresent for do damage (Aroud 25%) hard to do, two low tilt into cresent to kill on the side of the edge, when you got a nair you can normal light tilt into quarter circle kick donc have the word at 0% on most of the cast you can down smash its deal Around 42% you can down air heavy into shuryu its true too you dont talked about focus attack who is so Nice to defend and mix up
And he got a lot of more combo nair to dair when you Space your nair perfectly up air to shoryu is true depend of the di foward low tilt to reverse back is a good combo top down tilt down tilt shuryu is true on every character if they are « stick » to you ect ken is amazing to play but really hard to learn and you can do hard more hard damage if u master him the neutral is hard with him against a lot of character heavy version of kick inputs is for shield poking the most of the time you got the break shield combo too 2* tilt heavy half circle hard one down tilt into side b you can do this a lot at low pourcent and like nair up air nair dair and its a 0 to death(very hard to do) you need to short up all aerial and Space them perfectly
Also out of Down tilt and Up tilt there is a whole world of demolishing combos.

I’ve been a Ken main for about 2 months and I would say that this is really good Ken video for how short it is, however I recommend all upcoming Ken mains to go watch Ikechi’s Ken Guide and RonninX Ken guide.
They are much more detailed and really show off the character well, however if you are looking to play this character keep in mind that this is one of the most technical characters in smash u, and simply learning inputs and simple combos might take weeks of practice.

You should do a video about countering in more ways than one, like counters, absorbers, reflects, dodging/rolling and then attacking, out of shield options, and more

And all I can say is, shotos are fucking Easy compared to some of the shit the other characters do,
Imagine having to twist your stick 360 degrees to do a throw (and not jump), and 720 degrees to do a super
Actually, you can jump to do the fill circle moves. You CAN do a thing called a walking 720, but don't try it. But I totally agree with the shotos being easier
Angboy180 I think charge inputs are the easiest looking but I’m not playing any characters that have charge moves (I’m not playing remy in a game where tapping forward almost always just invalidates most projectile zoning plans unless you bait the projectile parry and grab them for oki afterwards)

Dragon Ball FighterZ technically has a reverse half-circle input, but it's specifically to switch directly into another character's level 3 without doing a super.
Since this comment's post, we have Goldlewis' Behemoth Typhoon in Guilty Gear Strive, which has 8 different half-circle command inputs.
Ken has been my dude since SF II. Also loved how they brought more depth to his personality in the SF II V anime series. Ken main all day.

Tatsu is a reverse semi circle right the the left if he is on your right just exchange if it the opposite
I tried it out and from running the half circle back seems to do tatsu forward rather than accidentally backwards.
No regret maining the shotos, they're worth the time and effort

They made a mistake for the Tatsu input, it's Quatret circle back, not half circle.
7:33 TO ALL PEOPLE THAT ACTUALLY WANNA PLAY KEN:
*DO NOT DO THAT* this guy hits with the sower spot of Ken's F-smash that for Ken mains is pretty much the definition of failure/mistake because:
1)F-smash, as a smash attack, can't make a true combo but can be used for strings
2)There are non-true combos and/or strings of Ken that lead to *SWEET SPOT F-SMASH*
3)Even if you risk missing the F-smash and being in a disadvantage, the reward for hitting it will never be a kill (in sower spot)
Since he was talking for punishes after light up tilt try doing:
Lup-tilt -> Hup-tilt/ProxHjab(if you think it can connect) -> Nata Ootoshi Geri (without the Inazuma) -> F-smash
where: Lup-tilt = Light Up Tilt, Hup-tilt = Heavy Up Tilt, ProxHjab = Proximity(when you are close to the opponent) Heavy Jab
*THIS GUIDE IS INACURATE AND EVEN THE CLIPS IT SHOWS ARE PRETTY MUCH WHAT YOU SHOULD NOT DO WITH KEN*
Who do you recommend Ryu or Ken?
Truthfully I love ken. And even though I tried my best to master ken but it’s just too much of a disadvantage compared to other characters who have better moves. Ken is good but I think there’s characters who can counter his play style pretty good.

I’m struggling to get ken to elite I just keep losing matches, this video has really taught me more about the character
Edit: ok it’s been an hour after commenting this and I’ve been playing ken online and Ive definitely gotten better, I was always dash attacking and F-airing as ken which wasn’t effective so I started doing jab combos and landing nair combos on peoples shield. Thanks for the advice :)

Ken IS really good me as a Ken Main
Can say he has top Tier Combos that get you from 0 to 40 till 80 Sometimes If you mixup with down b 100 percent BECOUSE you get the right setup he has nasty kill confirms that kill at Like 60 Till 80 and If you get one Hit IT leads to another
But me that plays Ken for almost 2 years still Misses some Combos kill confirms and Press the Buttons too Long or Not i dont Press IT Long enough so IT doesnt kill or Inputs so i can say Nobody will master Ken easly hes one of the hartest characters to learn for sure you wont BE a Ken master of you Play Ken for a Month you Need to really practise
So dont give Up If your Not good at Ken If you didnt Play him much If you master him hes top Tier at least
