- A historic deal has been struck at the UN's COP27 summit that will see rich nations pay poorer countries for damage and economic losses caused by climate change.
It ends almost 30 years of waiting by nations facing huge climate impacts, like flooding and drought.
But developed nations left the summit dissatisfied over progress on fossil fuels, as the final overarching deal did not include commitments to "phase down" or reduce use of them.
"I am confident we have turned a corner in how we work together to achieve climate goals," said Pakistan's climate minister Sherry Rehman, who negotiated for the bloc of developing countries plus China.

There is no climate emergency. The great barrier reef is thriving. Polar bears are thriving in numbers larger than ever. World food production is better than ever (unless some idiotic government bans fertilizer). Many many more deaths occur in harsh cold weather than in the odd heat wave, which we've had on and off for as long as I've lived. Sea levels haven't budged in my 57 years of life, and may increase an imperceivable few mm in the next 50, that's pretty much nothing in the grand scheme of things. Any extra Co2 helps plants thrive. All that Co2 locked up in oil and gas was around at some point in the past, when almost the whole planet was tropical. Co2 is essential to life, it is NOT pollution. If Co2 was significantly less than what it is now, plant life on earth would cease to exist. Years ago, there was a medieval warm period where grapes were grown even in northern Britain. Then there was the little ice age, where many rivers would freeze over in winter. Many scientists say we are still just coming out of the little ice. All this 'global warming' is strange isn't it? I mean it even seems to match the sun's solar cycles. ... It did in the past, where sunspot cycles matched warm or cold periods. Doesn't this all sound ridiculous now?

I like the concept of working to reduce emissions but this doesn't look like a good long-term plan to help get there and just puts a temp patch that doesn't fix the core problems.

The best "mitigation" against extreme weather events is economic development, not strangling it by Net Zero. That is why people in advanced, industrialised countries suffer less and also why deaths from extreme weather events have fallen over the century. In no small part it is thanks to fossil fuels.

Look at Pakistan for example, its greenhouse emissions are a tiny percentage compared to how much it is affected by climate change. This is what the political realm brings to the table, no agreements, divided on issues, cannot "come together", constant bickering, and this goes on and on in every single political nation, but at this COP27 Climate Conference, it further shows that as long as politics remains "alive", there will be no "consensus" on just about everything, no matter how minute the issue is, such as disagreeing on the temp of each nations "drinks" at the conference or how warm each nations chairs should be.
So, for the earth to attain genuine unity, what must be done ? Get rid of politics and its supporters. And this is exactly what is to happen not far into the future, for at Daniel 2:44, 45 in the Bible, it describes the destruction of the political arena with its 7th world power of America/Britain, with the United States taking precedence on the world stage, showing that another government called God's Kingdom will "crush" the political system with its supporters to death at a world wide event called Armageddon (Rev 16:16), and then take full control of the earth.(see Dan 2:34, 35)
When God's Kingdom takes over the earth, the challenge of trying to keep the earth's temperature within the 1.5 degrees F. range will be a moot issue, for God's Kingdom has the skill, power, and foresight of changing the entire earth into a paradise for "meek" ones to enjoy forever, so that extreme weather will never exist again, only beautiful seasons that the "meek" will find pleasing without end.(see Ps 37:11, 29; see Mark 4:35-39 in which Jesus calms a severe storm instantly)
The outcome of this summit isn’t surprising for several reasons. The Bible foretold the ruining or destroying of the earth by humans. (Revelation 11:18) That verse also says that God will act while humans are still in the process of doing this by destroying those responsible. The Bible also foretold that at this time people would be “lovers of money” and “not open to any agreement”. (2 Timothy 3:1-5) Many people in government so often put their own selfish interests above the welfare of others. With so many natural and man-made disasters happening on a daily basis, it’s obvious that no human governments, no matter how well meaning, can possibly solve the very serious problems currently facing mankind. However, our Creator has the solution! His heavenly government, God’s Kingdom, will very shortly replace all human governments. It will solve all mankind’s problems and unite people of every race. Psalm 37:10, 11, 29 says: “Just a little while longer and the wicked will be no more; you will look at where they were, and they will not be there. But the meek will possess the earth, and they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace. The righteous will possess the earth, and they will live forever on it”. What a wonderful world that will be! Everyone will care for our beautiful planet and for one another. And it will happen very, very soon!
