    The $299/$399 Woodpeckers Autoline Drill Guide is fixed at 90 degrees. For the tilting functionality equivalent to the UJK in this review you need the $599/$699 Autoangle Drill Guide.

    I've had the UJK drill guide for two years. Don't use it that often, but it has been very useful in a few projects. More than accurate enough for my purposes. Helps to clamp it onto the workpiece whenever possible.

    Great video thanks for your time. Roy did mention that you stowed the chuck key in the chuck but did not point it out. For my part a small magnet glued to the chuck mount bridge would stow the chuck and you would never have to put it back on the bench to fall through a hole in your MFT top 😅

    • @TheWoodgrafter
      @TheWoodgrafter  Год назад +1

      Hi, I love the magnet idea - I will borrow that. I simply place the handle of the key into the chuck and lightly hand tighten.
      Mind you it can be a bit awkward to remove.

    A spring would be nice to push the drill back, but probably you can sort that…however that would keep the centre of gravity kinda high…
    This is one of the few sturdy ones I can find. Most of them just a cheap, wobbly thing. Thank you for the review, I really wanted to justify the price :D

    • @TheWoodgrafter
      @TheWoodgrafter  Год назад

      Hi,
      Thanks for the comment, yes it is a good bit of kit. Really good quality - when you have the drill mounted, the centre of gravity is pretty high anyway - so the spring wouldn’t make much difference.
      But yes, a spring return would add value - also some sort of press handle.
      Cheers

    I looked at one of these in my local Axminster shop. I was so impressed with the quality of the machined parts and the feel of the quality of it. I may get one at some point. I can't help wonder whether the Woodpeckers one is better and worth the extra? Having seen your test here, I think this does look a really nice piece of quality kit! I would have preferred a positive stop at 90'. Any idea if this is made in the UK like some of the other UJK items?

    What a pitty you can't put an ordinary drill on it. Is there a equipment part for that? Btw. for checking your 90° you should move your rectangel 90° to the left or right and check it again.

    I have to say I am disappointed with this model. You cannot use small drill bits because the designers did not offset the chuck from its guide mounts, which would have allowed a far bigger range of drill bits / lengths. A case of near, and yet so far I am afraid……….

    169 pounds for a drill stand! You've got to be kidding me! Is it meant as a desk ornament only? That might be an excuse for its exorbitant price, otherwise I would rather get a bench drill for the price.
    Having said that, watching the close up shots in this video it is evident that this is a quality piece. I've just watched another review of this before this video and it was filmed from a distance so the device was not as clearly displayed as here. You get what you pay for.
    Still, I'd prefer an all-in-one drill with adjustable stand (rather than a stand to which you attach a drill that might already have a chuck) or (even better) a doweller/dowel joiner
