For all those of you who are privileged to live in Trinidad, all I can say again where Lord Kitchener is concerned is to go see this play they have going on now until September, as well as get a copy of the new book in which they produced in honor of his 100th birthday 🎂🍰🎊🎈🥂

Lord Kitchener- an artist that should be played more on WACK Radio in Trinidad. His repertoire is magnanimous & impressive. The sad reality is that in Trinidad now Calypso on the whole is a dying or dead artform. Soca is more popular (and in my opinion garbage, primarily because year after year I doubt if people will remember the tunes of Carnival). Lord Kitchener (1922-2000) I have said it in the past & I will say it again even though you didn't receive the Trinity Cross- now the Order of the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago, you still are a first class entertainer.

Go to 28:00 in attached video interview conducted by Alvin Daniell with Lord Kitchener in late 1991 talking about how he composed "Sugar Bum Bum" and how much in demand and quickly the album with "Sugar Bum Bum" sold after it was released.

Lord Kitchener? The complete calypsonian. I had the privilege of listening to all of his songs from the mid 1940s. I would have loved to hear the two Christmas Calypsos he performed to celebrate Christmas in England. I believe the first one was titled Drink a rum and a punch of cream. Then a variation on Jingle Bells. Those two songs really added tremendous joy to Christmas celebrations back in Barbados.

If you look it up on RUclips you will get Drink A Rum his version from Melodisc in 1954 and then again in 1976 backed by Charlies' Roots.
