Timothy Watkins Jr. (Baron). Started singing Calypso in 1971 thanks to Lord Shorty who not only gave the "Sweet Soca Man" his moniker, but wrote his first two (2) songs- Severe Licking & Too Late on the Antillana label in 1971. For some reason (known to Baron only) he left Calypso for 13 years- Remember Sugar Aloes "I Love Being Me" (1992) "For fourteen (14) years Baron did leave & go, 1979 is when I came in, then Baron came back in". When Baron returns to Calypso in 1984 with Osbourne Barrett he released three (3) songs on an LP- The Jammer, Priscilla, Feeling It. In 1985 he had songs like "Buss Up Shut", "Pan Stick" "Do It", 1986- "Doh Rock It So", "River Of Tears" "Raja Rani", "Ah Fraid- (ah fraid politics). 1987- "Say Say"- originally done by Jerry James 1988- Melosian Rhapsoy, "Dance Floor", "Soca Man", 1989- "Somebody" "We Having A Party". Baron has been in the business for 50 years. Some sad news I hate to post here is that Baron was in the bathroom I believe in Piarco International Airport, and the man forgot his purse (bag) with his signature gold jewelry. Another piece of news I can give you is that Baron finally married his girlfriend. So you can put to rest that line of Sugar Aloes claiming "Baron love Indian & plenty action".
Blessed love and respect to, Alvin Daniell, for bringing these Calypso Showcases to us throughout the years, we learns so much from you about our Calypsonians/Cultural Ambassadors things and other side of them that we never knew, with your extremely awesome footages…my brother may all your blessings continue to flow after God always 🎼 🎶 🎵❤️🇹🇹✊🏽✌🏽👊🏽
De sweet soca man himself.. I believe leston Paul’s greatest works rests with this man right here.. I also enjoy his early performances and his youthful demeanor on de farm.. Singers today outta breath before they can sing live like baron..
A calypsonian who could put his feelings into what somebody else writes is a great calypsonian. Imagine Baron putting his feelings exactly how it sounds best. He needs to Big up himself for that personal quailty.. that is a special tallent from the Creator.
Baron is one of my favorite soca artists... vocals on point ... sweet....
I am really enjoying this entertainment with the Baron. Please continue showing these pieces of yesteryear's and these gems of calyposians.😍
I am hoping to do so, but it takes time. I am planningto do all of my programs by year end.
Baron...A great singer/vocalist and performer. Love all his music..

Mr. Daniell, do you have any more footage of Desperadoes' panyard? What about interviews with the late Clive Bradley or Jit Samaroo?
I only did an interview with Robbie Greenidge that I will feature soon. Look out for that - very informative.
