@@riyadhrafique8377 well I tried🤣🤣🤣. He's been my favourite calypsonian of all time eversince I was born when Lorraine came out. So sad he's gone. Well, he did took that jet plane to Airport Heaven and that was his next stop. And his suitcase done pack already😪🙏🏽🕊.
@@aliciamirelleemmanuel8965 To me artists like Baron & Explainer represent a period when Trinidad's culture was changing. Remember Lord Shorty came out with the new sound "Soca" in the 1970s'. Unfortunately, Soca is not 🚫 worth it by today's standards at all- the music 🎼 🎶 🎙️📀 is not memorable like long ago when the Mighty Sparrow & Lord Kitchener ruled the Road March during the 1960s-1970s'. There is no melody, there is no lyrics or storyline to the song & I doubt if any of the artistes have longevity in them. Everyone is telling me there are plenty of great Soca arrists- name one, other than Machel Montano, Fay Ann Lyons (Blue Boy- Superblue's daughter)& Destra Garcia.
Winston "Explainer" Henry. He left school prematurely in his own words "My parents couldn't afford my books 📚"... He started singing during Black Power (1970) in Trinidad 🇹🇹. He earned $50.00 (TT) when he started in the Calypso line/trade in 1969. He said how the Lord Kitchener (1922-2000) was "a mysterious man". Kitch said "Doh give dat boy no tunes"!!! "Let him compose his own music." 🎼 🎶🎵 Some classics by him include "Notting Hill" (1983) "Free Base" (1984) "That Is Soca" (1984), "Xmas or Army" - with Designer (1983), "Is Horse" (1987) "Soca All Night" (1988)...... Of course the song he is well known for- his trademark tune "Lorraine"- from the album "Man From The Ghetto" (1981). In my book 📖 after the Sweet Soca Man Baron, Explainer has Soca music 🎼 🎶 lock, stock & barrell!!!! Thank you very much uncle Alvin Daniell!!! You are a blessed soul to interview/interact with the "cream of the crop" in Calypso/Kaiso!!!!!! Long live this artform & tradition!!!! 🇺🇸 🇹🇹 🎼🎶🏆
@@alvindaniell9865 His daughter said he had material ready for Carnival 2023... Next month would've been his 75th birthday 🎂 🎉. Now they are planning to do a celebration of his life. He had the same ailment as comedian Sprangalang, Dr. Eric Williams (1911-1981) & Sparrow- he lapsed into a diabetic coma. Looking at him you wouldn't think 💭 or know he was suffering with diabetes.
I thought that too till Scrunter brought Kitchener with a one two punch. I wonder what place Explainer came in that year? Well, come to found out that Explainer came 2nd.
Uncle Alvin Good Day Sir. I hope you got the word via the internet (or however-- Trinidad Expess, Guardian or Newsday). I found out through an Opinion piece from I think Guardian- Explainer has departed this life. He slipped into a diabetic coma and died in Port of Spain General Hospital. He was set to perform next month for his birthday, now it looks like that will be turned into a celebration of his life.

It's a pity his song "tell them" is never mentioned. A tribute to Maestro.

Have nothing against scrunter but I thought explainer won with Lorraine & Chambers that night
Aye man you are quite right, Explainer should have won that night with Lorraine and Chambers
