- All Star Wars Opening Crawls as of 12/19/2015. The Force Awakens crawl isn't available in HD yet, so I took the liberty of animating my own and made it look as authentic as possible, complete with authentic text and movie soundtrack. Enjoy!
Music composed and conducted by John Williams.
Man, I always get emotional with these openings. Star Wars has a special place in my heart.
Same:,)
that feeling when watching episode 7 for the first time and the text crawl comes on
Two words, John Williams
Well Episode 1-6 do at least...
When that big yellow STAR WARS logo came up with the horns in the background on Episode 7 I nearly cried. It was SOOO AWESOME.
Yep I know that feeling. IT WAS SOOO EPIC!!! It was also great seeing the movie theatre PACKED. I've never seen my local movie theatre so packed before
+ShinobiOfKaos Yeah me too. I was literally dying of excitement at that moment. I can't wait to watch it again!😁
I know right, everyone in my theater applauded and some even cried
+Dwurban MC I know! And the very first sentence of the opening crawl, "Luke Skywalker has vanished." The minute I read that very first sentence, I was hooked!
+Albert Vilorio me too I was
I love how all the original crawls including Force have unique and different tones musically for each one of them.
That moment when you're in the movie theater, no movie, no ads, just silence before The Force Awakens starts...Then allof the sudden Star Wars' music cues at blast volume. The next thing you know, There's a soft drink all over your lap, Pop-corn spread on the floor in front of you, and yellow text on the screen crawling on a star background.
There is no need to play a horror videogame to be jumpscared, just watch a Stars Wars Film...
GOD DANG POPCORN
+KawaiiJoaco I CAN RELATE TO THIS LMAO
I've been there so many times lol
bro lol that happened just silence then the speakers just blast the whole theater
+KawaiiJoaco It's was really strange now that the 20th Century Fox intro logo is gone
RIP Kenny Baker aka the actor who controlled R2-D2. May the Force be with you.
TheRobobuck And Carrie Fisher.
Along with Christopher Lee he used to play Count Dooku
TheRobobuck 😭😭
SPOILER ALERT FOR ROGUE ONE AT 5:00
Hahaha nice one ! You deserve more likes
lhy2209 i clicked that and it gave me a rogue one ad haha
You dog you!!! XD
ADBLOCKER BITCH
lhy2209 lol
I feel like Return of the Jedi hits you harder in the opening than any of the other films
+MauGamer42 its the percussion
It's the timpani AKA a type of percussion instrument
MauGamer42 go see the last Jedi.
MauGamer42 yep
The redemption of Anakin Skywalker
RIP Carrie Fisher and her mom Debbie Reynolds (who both passed away 24 hours apart). #MayTheForceBeWithThem.
Who else came here just for the Music?
i came BECAUSE of the music
It's fun to compare the difference in the themes.
hnt02 me
Nevertheless, John Williams is love, John Williams is life

I love how 4 - 7 opening crawls sounded different. Really made it feel distinct. Wish the prequels did the same.
It's amazing how much three paragraphs can change your life forever.
Star Wars
Episode 1
THE PHANTOM MENACE
Audience:
WOOOOOO!!!
Turmoil has engulfed the Galactic Republic
Audience: woah!
The taxation of trade routes to outlying star systems is in dispute
Audience: wait... wtf...
+Cloud Strife Credits
Audience:.............
+Joshyrock03 It's sad how people are not clever enough to understand the plot.
yeah the phamton menace is soooooo clomplex as fifty shades of grey
Kids would be watching Episode 1, not knowing what “taxation” and all that political stuff is. I think that’s a pretty crazy idea.
i think star wars is aimed at all. and yet TPM was the highest grossing star wars movie at the time of its release.
what I love about Star Wars is how beautifully simplistic and engaging the storyline is. and the fighting/violence is just as great as any blood-curdling gory slasher stuff but clean and still entertaining.
The opening too EP VII was one of my greatest experiences i've ever had, the crowd was amazing, me and my friend were literally shacking when we saw the Lucasfilm logo
I get bored quickly with the opening of 7 for some reason it just doesn't make me feel it's Star Wars
Star Wars was the pinnacle of my childhood in the 70's & 80's. Carrie Fisher, I sincerely thank you for giving us the gift of Princess Leia. Everything about Star Wars brings me tears of joy. Thank you for giving me a happy childhood. May your beautiful soul, and the soul of your mother, rest in paradise for all eternity.
Wow, 200K views. I've never had 200K of anything... Thanks guys! I'm still working on content so stay tuned.
You've had more than 200K bacteria in your mouth.
SparkySywer "You little smarty!" -I. M. Meen
just saw Rogue One and seeing the crawl for ep 4 really helped. was able to connect the dots. thanks for putting this up.
Such iconic openings. Always gives me goosebumps and actually gets me quite emotional.
I love how each version is slightly different than the last.
Remember being there when ROTS first opened. The title screen lit up and there was silence. When the music started playing, there was a thunderous applause.
The opening for Episode VII sounds like a combination of the prequel and original themes. I love it.
PolillaBenG I hate it
Return of the Jedi has hands down the best music intro out of all of them. The violin parts sound just gorgeous.
I watched all the openings back to back.
It GETS me EVERY time.
Wow.
There is no better feeling than being in a cinema with the opening theme and crawl surrounding you. such an amazing atmosphere👌🤘
if this was the Canadian anthem we're forced to hear every morning at school, school would've been so much better.
Probably would make me want to go to school when I was younger
Totally. Plus, it would probably make me more upbeat and ready to learn. Since 90% of the time I'm honestly still asleep while walk'n around the classroom.
I'd rather hear this at the Olympics when someone wins gold at the podium ceremony.
MistyEyedDragon man I would actually want to go to school a lot more 😂
same
lol I feel bad for the fans who grew up on the originals and were so excited for Phantom Menace only to get "the taxation of trade routes"
ReuWil I was joking m8. I still like the prequels.
I fell asleep during the crawl...
ReuWil it's not a bad storyline but the movies were extremely disappointing from the originals. And it wasn't really important for the Star Wars story. Without the prequels we pretty much know everything that we need to know. We don't need to know why Vader turned other than he was seduced.
Abe Collins I liked them but obviously not as much as the originals
Am I the only one that thought the story of the prequels were an improvement over the original trilogy?
Can't wait for the version with all 8 crawls.
PickleRick you mean 9 crawls, cuz there is an episode 9 coming this January.
Yo what’s up pickle rick
Just saw episode 8.. although a let down, there is nothing more satisfying then seeing the opening sequence on the big screen
I love the entire Star Wars saga. The opening crawls are awesome.
I remember the night my brother was born in 1998 I was 5 me and my dad went back home and introduced me to Star Wars with Episode 4 A New Hope and since that very night I've been hooked since my Girlfriend was a huge star wars fan also but sadly she passed away about 2 years before TFA I teared up so hard during the opening crawl thinking about her no matter what happens in this trilogy I'm going to go to the theaters and watch them for me and her Star wars is very personal and close to my heart there are moments in every movie I can relate to
I think the one with the opening crawl is the best.
thats every one, OHHHHH i see what you did there
I will always love the few seconds after the crawl when there's barely any music and the camera pans down.
Best saga ever
Yessir
Nick Beast the story is a classic and at the same time crazy story
AMB Pineapple, you are about to go on live now with me over the Star Wars opening crawls from the first Star Wars movie in the prequel trilogy. The texture of the opening crawls are fantastic. They tell of great quality. The music composed by John Williams is terrific. It plays nice and majestic. I would highly recommend this to my family even for future reference. Thanks!
4:30... the one that started it all.
Sure did
“A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away” I don’t know why I love seeing those words so much
Is your kid having trouble falling asleep? Tuck him in and read him the opening crawl to Episode I.
Make him watch Episode II for instant action!
+sebbellic01 Oh yeah, hearing about planets seceding from their government really gets my adrenaline going.
Also read him a transcript of all the "interesting" political lines that are said on Coruscant
+MyWizBiz Amidala's call for a vote of no confidence is like cinematic Viagra.
+Reuwil Are you an angel?
The Force Awakens was the first Star Wars movie I got to see in theaters and when the music hit I got so fucking excited .
the excitement vanished through the movie
R.I.P. To our beloved actors and actresses.
Sebastian Shaw (Anakin Skywalker)
Alec Guinness (Obi-Wan Kenobi)
Peter Cushing (Grand Moff Tarkin)
Christopher Lee (Count Dooku)
Kenny Baker (R2-D2)
Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia Organa)
Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca)
David Prowse (Darth Vader)
Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett)
The one series I never tire watching repeatedly
The prequels were great.
ok
Whatever you say, kid.
I actually agree
I agree 100%.
+Octavio89 Attack of the Clones did.
I always have felt that 0:32-0:55 is the most underappreciated part of the score, despite being the most iconic theme in film history.
An opening crawl is exactly what Rogue One needed to have us pumped for the movie from the beginning. Idk they really fucked up by not including an opening crawl. Other than that the movie was FENOMENAL 😍
Ikr
To me the entire movie was an opening crawl for Episode 4 lol
Exactly, Rogue One was an opening crawl in itself so I found it appropriate not to do one for that movie. Felt weird, but hey...
I think it's because it is not a main story line.
The anthology films will not have crawls
RIP Carrie Fisher I will never be able to watch the original trilogy the same way ever again. Godspeed sweet princess.
The prequel trilogy sound is way better than the OT or TFA, TFA sounds a little bit... idk how to say it, weak? and in the original Star Wars idk what the hell they were playing, I know, it is the original but in this case original doesn't mean better.
The prequel trilogy crawl was better than Empire’s and A New Hope’s crawls but not Return of the Jedi in my opinion. The Force Awakens is just god awful.
OT's music is the original audio. the enhanced clear up versions are good aka digital
@@SkeloDevil601 It's just the opening note at the beginning everything else is fine.
Cool all 7 opening INTRODUCTIONS
Does anyone else notice that in the Episode 4 crawl, the initial flourish is in a slightly higher key to the rest of the tune?
I love how each movie's crawl sounds different.
Episode 7 proves that you can't beat the London symphony for performance
+timefilm Honestly it sounded fine in a big-ass movie theatre and it will probably sound fine on your TV. I only noticed TFA sounded "off" because the other 6 came right before it. I wish people wouldn't nitpick this movie, people didn't nitpick ANH when it came out I bet.
+LeGarbage
It was clear the music was not the london symphony when it started. I had to read the credits to confirm it and then read up later to learn that it was all contractor musicians. Thats fine - it still sounds great. Maybe the most like episode 4?
I knew something was off upon hearing the first few notes of the Main Title theme in theaters. A freelance orchestra was used to record the Force Awakens soundtrack. In my opinion, the Force Awakens Main Title sounds bland, digital and weak compared to any of the previous six recordings. I heard the LSO had scheduling conflicts which prevented them from recoding the soundtrack. I hope the LSO returns for future Star Wars movies.
+LeGarbage nah I noticed it sounded weaker when I watched it for the first time. It actually threw me off I was so excited to hear it only to be like "huh thats it?"
+Lord Gimli that's why the score is the weakest of them all
That moment when all of a sudden it's all dark and the lucasfilm sign goes up and you know it's only two seconds away and and then complete silence and that music just blows you out of your seat and when you see the force awakens almost makes you cry because it's so nice to see the same thing back up on the screen 40 years later when we didn't know there would be
I love the opening clash from Episode IV. It sounds bigger and more inviting. The Prequels had the best EQed and tuned sound, with just the right sound mixing. Episode VII is actually my least favorite. It just sounds cheap, it has too much high end and no low end. There's no weight to the sound of it. The Originals had a lot of bass and weight to the sound, and the Prequels had a very balance sound and tuning, but the Episode VII crawl music just feels off to me.
The Episode VII theme likely sounds off because it was performed by an LA studio orchestra and not the London Symphony like the ones before.
No wonder it sounded weak compared to the other openings. I was pretty underwhelmed when I first heard it in theaters. Glad I wasn't the only one either.
@@alucard624 Disney is cheap
The originals were the loudest and best and I’m 11 boy and I am loving the original trilogy and revenge of the sith. phantom and clones suck
Say that the phantom menace and the attack of the clones suck again and your gonna get it!
My personal favourite crawl is that of Episode V. I love the slightly different orchestra music as well as the crawl text itself furthermore with Empire being my personal favourite Star Wars movie.
The Bluray is out! Yay! Should I recut this video, adding in the official crawl, or leave my fan-animated one? I don't care either way :)
Put in the real one, please?! ? !
+Ambassador Pineapple You should put in the official crawl :)
+Ambassador Pineapple Yes, of course :)
+Ambassador Pineapple
I wait you do a video "All 9 Star Wars Opening Crawls" ;)
+LMNO837 Lemme guess, the Rouge One: A Star Wars Story Intro and the Episode VIII Intro as well?
Awesome job on the force awakens couldn't even tell the difference!
except for the UN RESTORING part in the crawl
Bar The Phantom Menace, I like all the films, they're so awesome.
I liked the Phantom Menace, too. You actually got to see the Old Republic as it was and gain an understanding as to why it was falling apart. Jar-Jar may have been overdone, but he WAS funny. Dumb fellow with a good heart.
Always get excited when this comes up every time I watch stars wars.
you can hear the slight differences from the prequels to the originals to the sequels.
this is a great video, bringing back memories like luke when he was yound and the most funny one is when darth vader met the pink version of himself, LOL
"This will begin to make things right..." IT SURE DID, MR. ABRAMS
Yes!
More like, "This will begin to make things very familiar and, ultimately, unimaginative..."
Tasken_Lander_Redux Nope. But good try
Was that comment directed at me or the "Spielberg wannabe" that failed to contribute a single original idea or plotline to a franchise that is literally *teeming* with endless possibilities for imagination?
and thats why theres a lot of better stuffs than just star wars. even if the prequels were diferrent they also took things from the originals, and they also took plot lines from a lot of episodes from flash gordon. you fanboys need to stop living under a rock and watch more things that are more original than star wars. did you ever saw donnie darko, the sixth scence, gattaca, ex-machina, little miss sunshine, her, eternal sunshine of the spottles mind, birdman,Lost in Translation, the usual suspect, midnight in paris, the big lewboski, the crying game, hott fuzz, chinnatown, good will hunting, the great budapest hotel, pan's laberith, amelie, magnolia, Eraserhead, The Royal Tenenbaums, blue velvet, the piano, pulp fiction, amores perros, ed wood, Good Night, and Good Luck, dark city, fargo, American History X, memento, Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, Anomalisa, spirited away, fucking citizen kane ?
all this movies, that most of them aren't based in other source material, have a lot of creative things with endless possibilities for imagination , than anything that you can find in any star wars film, star wars since day one was always a blockbuster series for little childrens. lucas admit that
Damn this is an awesome video that totally sums up the awesomeness of going to go see Star Wars movies in theaters!!!
Han Solo died are you gonna cry
jacob Ramirez Yes of course I loved Han his death was so sad!!!
The best part of TLJ was the opening crawl
At the Finnish premiere, I just remembered silence. Then the Lucasfilm logo pops out of nowhere and everybody begins applauding and cheering. Then the theme suddenly starts and all I feel is joyful tears and think "IT'S FUCKING BACK!!!!!"
Star Wars
Episode VIII
Ghosts of the Empire
After the destruction of STARKILLER BASE the First Order retreated back to the Unexplored Regions to plan their next move. Kylo Ren, Disturbed by Flashbacks of the death of his Father, Han Solo, returned to Grand Master Snoke to complete his training.
Meanwhile, after the destruction of Hosnian Prime, the New Republic moved their Capital to Coruscant and began Rebuilding the REPUBLIC NAVY. Knowing now that they really are at threat from the First Order the Resistance called upon by them to lead the War Efforts.
General Leia, Leader of the Resistance, and Mother of Kylo Ren, still recovering from the loss of her Husband is determined to find her Son, and if possible Save him. On AHCH-TO Rey began Training with the Jedi Master, Luke Skywalker, after embracing her Destiny. Sensing they are needed, General Leia sends Finn and Poe Dameron to AHCH-TO to bring her, and Skywalker, home...
Neat.
this is really good
+Ben Rhodes Christ, not every other WORD needs to be in CAPITAL LETTERS. Granted TFA did that, but it was sort of a FLUKE in that regard
+zingodoom In every opening crawl that capitalize all of those words. DEATH STAR, RESISTANCE, REPUBLIC NAVY, all of that.
No.
Episode II has "ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC"
Episode IV has "DEATH STAR"
Episode VI has "GALACTIC EMPIRE"
And now Episode VII has "FIRST ORDER", "RESISTANCE", and "REPUBLIC"
Episodes I, III, and V all lacked such a pattern
Me and my dad still watch the original trilogy May 4 since I was 5 and man the opening is still the best part
Who is here looking for more potential Star Wars Stories?
Hehe
Cobalt Falcon me
Read the comics, dude!
The saga really does continue...
of course me, my family is #1 fan of star was
The intro-fanfare for Episode VI is the best one
5:06 Rogue One, may the force be with you 😥
I can watch this all day.
Star Wars Return of the Jedi sounded better than all of the intros
+Conner Wilcons They all sound great
+Conner Wilcons I totally agree. In fact, A New Hope seems to have something weird going on where... it's like the first note isn't in key with the rest of the theme. Does anybody else notice that? It always bugged me.
Yob98 They all sound great!!!
+Yob98 yeah it's weird
The only part that bothered me was the beginning. It sounded like they went off key. But otherwise, it was great!
0:07 Episode I: The Phantom Menace
1:36 Episode II: Attack of the Clones
3:04 Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
4:32 Episode IV: A New Hope
6:03 Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
7:37 Episode VI: Return of the Jedi
9:13 Episode VII: The Force Awakens
The prequels are the best in this regard. The originals, while they did do it first, don’t hold up compared to the modern polished sound of Episodes 1-3. Episode 7 is fine, but lacks the initial impact of the other films (almost certainly because it wasn’t done by the London Symphony Orchestra.)
the mixing got it wrong. In a BTS of the recording the opening fare is fantastic on to the par of the PT.
The initial opening riff and sound for the crawls sound best in Ep 1-3. They sound like something off in 4-6. Even 7. I think for 7 though they did it on purpose cause they really wanted the original trilogy feel.
at the beginning of ep 7 at theater everybody started claping
and screaming
I got goosebumps when the main title came on, also everyone at my theater was clapping too:)
Star Wars is one of my first memories and I love it but this was my first one in theatres besides the animated one. I had the biggest smile on my face when I even just saw the Lucasfilm logo.
Was anyone shocked what the opening line said when they first saw this I was bored with Luke Skywalker is missing idc he's the worst character in the series to me second only to Jar Jar Binks because I'm not stupid
+A1M Anry me too, especially when Chewie and Han walked into the falcon. Me and sister both smiled at each other
I dont know if anyone noticed (I realized it during my first viewing of EP VII at the movies. The theme recording for the last movie is the worse one after EP IV. The sound when the STAR WARS logo comes out sounds like a Super Nintendo video game and the logo leaves way too fast. If you listen carefully to each one, the one from EP I , II, and II sound awesome
Here are the sound differences in all Star Wars movies:
Episode I: Sounds normal, nothing special
Episode II: Still sounds normal, improved snare drum.
Episode III: Also sounds normal, sounds a little bit louder.
Episode IV: Tuning sounds pretty bad, trumpet part at 5:17 and 5:37 sounds lower. Sounds HORRIBLE...
Episode V: Tuning still not improved, the trumped in the beginning sounds less annoying
Episode VI: Tuning also not improved, sounds darker in the repeat.
Episode VII: Sound improved a lot, tuning improved a lot, cymbals sound a little bit louder for the big parts, tuba sounds louder, very very clean loud blast sounding.
Episode III's sounds are more intact and snare drum improved even more
+HDHerrera 7 Ok...
In my opinion, VII has the worst. It just doesn't sound like any of the others.
ToaOfScotland22 So, at least its the same theme...
JacoBoy21 True.
0:07 The Phantom Menace
1:36 Attack of the Clones
3:04 Revenge of the Sith
4:32 A New Hope
6:03 The Empire Strikes Back
7:37 Return of the Jedi
9:13 The Force Awakens
I want every title song to sound like Episodes I & II, I like those ones the best!
Episode 1 8/10
Episode 2. 4/10
Episode 3 10/10
Episode 4 9/10
Episode 5. 10/10
Episode 6. 8/10
Episode 7 9/10
+Darth Vader lel episode 1 8/10 and episode 3 10/10 ? where did you get your drugs from? i want some of that stuff too
Fratzu2
Its my opinion sorry :c
*****
revenge of terrible cgi and acting should be proud to get 6/10 .
*****
I mean yeah, it's not that terrible, but the overuse of CGI just makes it look soo unreal. I don't think that Hayden Christensen is really a bad actor, but the script was so terrible...although it was better than in EP2.
Episode 7 3/10*
one of the best parts to these movies
iconic!
saw the force awakens yesterday no matter how many times you hear the music see the crawl I still get a chill ☺☺☺
Ur gonna have to fix this next year when episode 8 comes out :P
Truly the best opening ever so freaking classic and awesome
I like this & my favorite episode is Ep. IV a new hope. Aidan luke Lambert
Music to my ears
I: 6/10
II: 5/10
III: 7/10
R1: 9/10
IV: 9/10
V: 10/10
VI: 8/10
VII: 7/10
***** What Clone Wars movie? Wasn't that a great show?
Glad to see I'm not the only who thinks Episode 2 is the worst. Episode 1 sucked but Episode 2 takes the cake for its awful love story that was just shoved in there, and the stupid Droid Production Line "battle/scene/whatever".
Tommy Dee episode sevens main theme was weak as hell
Episode I 00:00
Episode II 1:29
Episode III 2:57
Episode IV 4:24
Episode V 5:56
Episode VI 7:30
Episode VII 9:06
So she needs lukes help "UN" Restoring peace and justice...Sounds important
maybe its because its so new and fresh, but i think that VII has the best crawl. you just cant beat that first line, its so powerful
Episode VIII
THE LAST JEDI
The FIRST ORDER reigns. Having decimated the peaceful Republic, Supreme Leader Snoke now deploys his merciless legions to seize military control of the galaxy.
Only General Leia Organa's band of RESISTANCE fighters stand against the rising tyranny, certain that Jedi Master Luke Skywalker will return and restore a spark of hope to the fight.
But the Resistance has been exposed. As the First Order speeds toward the Rebel base, the brave heroes mount a desperate escape....
episode 6 has the best opening theme of the rest imo, it just felt so classic.
Who else just skiped to episode 7?
Yo.
+TheKingPlays OF CORSE ME!!!!!
me

Me
9:12 when I heard the theme play in the theater for Star Wars episode 7 I actually throw my hands in the air like my team won the game because you can't have a Star Wars without the theme
Episode 1 : B-
Episode 2 : F
Episode 3 : A-
Episode 4 : A+++
Episode 5 : A+++
Episode 6 : A+++
Episode 7 : A+
Star Wars Holiday Special: Failed out of the system.
I would probably give Return of the Jedi an A+, but otherwise I agree!
But... 1,2 and 3 are the same recording...
Legendary the opening credits of the Star Wars saga!
TFA sounds too weak. Def still the prequel one for me. RTOJ not far behind
same
@Martin Lee the force awakens is hot garbage compared to revenge of the sith and the original trilogy
Thanks For Uploading This!
:)
the theme in the Force Awakens crawl seems a bit weaker than the others
4:35
A New Hope is by far the best Tempo of all the intro. You can feel it.
"help un restoring" ? wtf
lol. Yeah I'm aware of the typo I made. It's should be "Help in restoring". It's pretty funny though since the "un" typo gives the phrase a whole new meaning.
+Ambassador Pineapple Not that I'm nit picking, but I'm pretty sure its 'disappeared' rather than 'vanished' ;)
***** no, it was vanished. Went to watch the movie a fourth time just to be sure.
Haha okay sorry ;) I've only seen it once so I'm a noob
***** It's cool
RIP Star Wars (1977 - 2022)
What?
