Let's build Batman scariest villain in Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition. Playing as an evil character in DnD can be fun, especially if you're allowed to be as creative as you want during the roleplaying.

Charisma doesn't mean how much people like you. It's how strong of an impression you leave on people. That's why you have intomodationnas a Charisma check. Most people won't like you if they find you supremely intimidating. The Charisma score indicates how liked, respected, *or* feared you are.

I don't understand the choice to put points in Dexterity instead of Wisdom or Charisma.
100% agree with Wizard/Illusion School. The spell list was perfect. I think the Wizard concept makes great sense for translating the fear science of the character to the magical world.
The Bard build is great, but I think it makes more sense for like a Hugo Strange, psychological manipulator than Scarecrow who relies on an outside element (chemicals in Batman, magic in DnD) to create fear. I also think you could use a few levels of that fear-focused Bard concept in a Deathstroke build if you multiclassed it with Fighter or Monk.

Valid point on the stats, I was thinking too much about avoiding damage, when really more wisdom for better insight checks might have been a better fit.

Oath of Conquest for frightening your enemies is another great option, especially when combined with a Fizban's Dragonborn with the Dragon Fear feat

If you want to stick to Jonathan Crane, Alchemist subclass for artificer is the perfect class. Since Scarecrow brews chemical concoctions to make a potent formula to use on others, it is exactly what alchemist subclass does.

As a dm in my campaign in these situations I gives double proficiency in intimidation checks for making scary illusions and double proficiency again for fear poison so 4X very high natural checks and actually one of my players also has expertise in intimidation checks so 8x the normal number + charisma modifier + 1d20. He calls himself dr fear he once scared fear spirits to death once. I gave him one free nat 20 once per day as a special bonus for his god like skill to terrify people

The Whispers Bard build I did with an Undead Warlock dip, was to make pennywise. Using a damphir lineage so the psychic blades made the bite attack into his mouth opening up wide with rows and rows of teeth.
I like the illusionist wizard build for this though. He’s kind of wimpy, but an expert at messing with people’s minds.

Ironically, the last time I went with a fear based character, it was based on Batman. I didn't want to do the typical Monk/Rogue that makes sense for the abilities that Batman has, I just wanted to use his background and origin story. So, a noble human who grew up in a crime riddled area, witnessed his parents being murdered at a young age, and dedicated himself to becoming a symbol to strike fear into the hearts of criminals everywhere. I made him Paladin 5, going Conquest, then took 2 levels of Undead Warlock and finished with Conquest for the remaining levels.

@@dndbuilds I enjoyed the video and how you uses the mechanics and poison stats to match the original character. It was brilliant! Dr. Cranes is alfo a great foe in hand yo hand combat. For a multiclass or an Injustice GaU concept the Long Dead Monk would be great due to the Hour of Reaping and Cause Fear at lv.6, but will be less powerfull with the spells
