    Nice build concept, I'm glad your first type of this Archetype was a Ranger.
    I think the only thing I would do differently is with the final favorite enemy I might do Elemental since Death in the Series was labeled as an elemental.
    For another type of D&D Class for Vampire Hunter I would try doing a Paladin Oathbreaker who took the subclass Oath of Vengance, as he works to be back in the Oaths favor as a redemption arch.
    The Belmonts were excommunicated by the church and no longer wanted them for their fear mongering of slaying monster.
    The Belmont Crest that is on his tunic would act like his Holy Symbol so he would not need spell components.
    Breaking the Oath against the church would strip him of his healing abilities such as Lay on Hands or Cure Wounds.
    They could still get Spells such as Hunter's Mark, Divine Favor, Compelled Duel, Protection from Evil and Good, and Searing Smite.
    Not to mention later in the Build he would get Zone of Truth, Banishment, and Death Ward.
    With the Tenet of Vengeance and Abjure Enemy this works well in story telling as Vampires are absolutely disgusted in even saying Belmont or seeing the Crest.
    You then have the Relentless Avenger, and Soul of Vengeance on the subclasses, they just fit really well.
    Your Stat build still works really well, but I would just swap out the stats for Cha. and Wis., since Belmonts are rather good-looking people and they only get lucky with finding something in a wall if they take the time.
    When it comes to Feats I would first pick up Tavern Brawler for the grapple and str. point, and later grab Savage Attacker for the attempt at high damage, and that includes later using Divine Smite.

    In my world of D&D I created the Almonts. A family of monster hunters dating back to 3-4 generations and 3 branching families of the sons of Edgar Almont.
    Kylor Almont
    Jonathan Almont
    Damien Almont
    The first Almont I played was in a Halloween oneshot. He was of Damien’s descent as a Zariel tiefling (Damien made a deal with Zariel that in exchange for bloodline powers all his descendants would be on the frontlines of the blood war)
    His name is Sylas Almont and he was a Vengeance Paladin 7/fighter 2 multiclass. I took drawings during the game as my character would for the family library. My main weapon was a whip alongside a longsword.

    I made a Hexblade Warlock/Swashbuckler Rogue for my Belmont character. After all, the whip does house the soul of Leon's wife, and is later shown to house memories of all previous Belmont wielders, making the whip itself a patron that is passed down. I flavor the Eldritch Blast to be the crosses/daggers/axes/holy water, which multiply in number as you get stronger, similar to the multiplier stones from the first game. The whip is the pact weapon, and with thirsting blade, hex or Hunter's Mark gained from Fey Touched, eldritch smite, improved pact weapon and sneak attack with Swashbuckler Rogue, you can deal a hefty amount of damage. All while having the mobility advantages of the rogue. I call this the Julius build.

I'll try it with the Phantom rogue and let you know how it goes.

  • @RetroMaticGamer
    @RetroMaticGamer 9 месяцев назад +7

    The Vampire Slayer isn't technically a whip. It's a long chain with a weighted end, meaning it would actually be closer to a Morningstar. Building around that would offer a little more damage potential (1d8 instead of 1d4) while still being true to form.

    • @s01itarygaming
      @s01itarygaming 9 месяцев назад +3

      Depends. Technically it's a magic whip that starts out as a leather whip that can upgrade to a chain whip, but that's nonsensical so no one really holds to that.

      @@s01itarygaming well in the anime they figured that out by making it two different whips

    • @s01itarygaming
      @s01itarygaming 9 месяцев назад +2

      @@werewolfjedi38 there was 2 whips before the anime: the Vampire Killer, and the Hunter Whip. The latter is primarily used for training, or in instances where the hunter was not of Belmont blood (since Vampire Killer will drain the life force of non-belmont users). Indeed it is still canon that both these whips can evolve in power and form, but the Hunter Whip is shown to only really stay as a leather whip while the Vampire killer can transform from leather to chain and morning star to even the point of launching flames. The animes *barely* offer more info (they don't even tell you if what Trevor has is Hunter Whip, or talk about Vampire Killer's ability to transform) than the games and therefore all of this is still ambiguous and therefore it is still, canonically speaking, accepted that Vampire Killer's base form is leather. Again, like I said previously, this is kinda silly so most fans at this point just accept that (as you proposed) the leather whip is just a separate whip entirely and most likely Hunter Whip.
      At the end of the day both whips are unquestionably "magic whips" (whatever that truly means) that are passed on between generations, so both can and do transform.

    • @gabrob3449
      @gabrob3449 9 месяцев назад +1

      depends on which canon ur working on, the vampire killer is an alchemical whip reinforced with "something" (i don't wanna spoil castlevania lament of innocence) , this whip have been made by "rinaldo gandolfi" (yeah the same gandolfi as in lords of shadows). This whip is supposed to be the family heirloom , in the case of the other whips well let's assume that it's gandolfi's work as well . The hunter whip (as seen in circle of the moon) is an enchanted leather whip , and nothing much is known about his origins . Could be made with gandolfi's tech minus the special "reinforcement" which made the vampire killer what is it .

    • @AndyManX1226
      @AndyManX1226 7 месяцев назад

      In the first show, they refer to Leon Belmont as the first Belmont to take up monster hunting. That's a reference to Lament of Innocence, the game in the series that is canonically the first in the timeline. There, it was actually a whip made from alchemy that was then later enhanced with a ritual to make it powerful against dark creatures.
      The one you're thinking of is the Morning Star, the chain whip later created as a complement to the original Vampire Killer.

    Two things I would probably include with this build is Tavern Brawler and weapon master. Since the whip is so underrated, both feats would provide a slight edge and help boost it's damage and usage. Weapon master will not only help with the whip but also add three more weapons to be proficient with. Two of them being hand axe and dagger. The third one I went with short sword. I don't know if a buckler would count and boomerangs aren't simpler or martial I think. Tavern Brawler would allow this build to improvise the whip into a flail which would grant some bludgeoning damage. Die roll would most likely be a 1d4.
    This is a nice straight Monster Slayer build. I've been experimenting on some options and one build I did set up is a Monster Slayer/War Priest/Battle Master. I'm still dabbling with the levels for it to see what would be most effective.

    On the flip-side, a cool set up for a (Pseudo)vampire could be a Hexblade Warlock, Swarmkeeper Ranger, and Beastial Barbarian where you focus primarily on Hexblade, but dip into Swarmkeeper for cloak of bats and sweet benefits as well as Beast Barbarian to gain the health drain biting effect like a vampire. You could roleplay the others (claws and tail if you want to use them) as gargoyle parts for gits and shiggles. If you don't care about being MAD, then this seems like fun

    I made a similar character once, you start as a bugbear and take monk all the way to level 6 and take the Kensi subclass. Make your kensi weapons a whip and a sling. Instead of Slasher take the crusher feat. This will allow us to move people 5ft with our ranged weapon to keep them at bay while we stunning strike them with our whip from 15ft away. Next take the rest of your levels as a battle master fighter and take the battle master maneuvers trip attack, brace and the pushing attack. The pushing attack is gonna give you an extra 15ft that you can push someone with the sling making it a 20ft push. I also recommend things like the disarming attack once you get more maneuvers as you level up. Then take either take the slasher or mobile feat, whichever one feels like a better fit. Now you are a insanely maneuverable skirmisher/Guerrilla fighter that manipulates the battlefield just as good as any spell caster while stacking on damage from ki points and superiority die. If you do decide to use my build please do let me know how it goes!

    Simon - Barbarian -> I mean, the guy is literally a musclehead that stroms straight into Dracula's chamber, kills him, then revives him just to kill him again.
    Trevor - ranger -> basically the build in this video. Guy tries to get by through his job and often travels like a vagrant would, while specializing with the Belmont lore, tactics and weaponry.
    Richter - Monk -> By far the most martial artist belmont. Guy has an entire built in Street Fighter combo system in the games. If you want to go by the more magical version of the anime, 4 elements can do that.
    Juste - Cleric/Paladin -> despite his representation in the anime, he's by far the most faithful Belmont, smiting down enemies while having powerful magic.
    I'm not so sure about Julius. Maybe battlemaster warrior since he's by far the most insanely skilled Belmont?

    your attack DMG goed up, making him less MAD. Also he uses two whips often, and you can get the DMG boost from the +DMG on you offhand attacks. This feels closer to Trevor Belmont that you portray. Also I do think flavor wise with background you did a really good job.

    Paladin 17/Ranger 3 also works for a vast majority of the Belmonts (except for Simon since he primarily focused on the families supernatural strength and perception), especially if you take Destructive Wave for Grand Cross, Branding Smite or Holy Weapon for Flaming Soul, a hand crossbow with Hail of Thorns can be flavored as Thousand Edge etc.

      @@arcangherss999 I’m not talking about stats, I’m talking in terms of how the Belmonts are as characters. But yes you’re right they would need 13s in 4 different stats. It would potentially be far worse if you were making someone like Juste, Richter, Trevor, Julius, Chris, hell maybe even Leon given their ability for actual “spell casting”. This build in and of itself would work for Simon, but Barbarian/Fighter would be a better fit for him given his lack of “spellcasting”. I’m using quotes since Item Crashes aren’t necessarily spells since they’re innate to the Belmont families bloodline.

      @@DANTVSVERGIL Yeah, I thought the same. Also, as many people did in the comments, I really like the idea of Monk (at very least to level 8 at most to level 11) to increase the Whip Die and Multiclass with Warlock or Ranger.
      Ranger gives PERFECT synergy in stat distribution and AC, and Abilities. It's almost perfect.
      Warlock works, because it's an unusual pick and also, because if you need Smite without the stat fuckery, Pact of the Blade gives you a Magical Weapon which can use an Eldritch Smite, which hits harder and has a possibility to knock enemies prone. You don't get group buffs like Paladin, but either way, you are a solo hunter, so why bother.
      (Also depending on your DM, you may even be a Hexblade and turn your Pact Weapon into a Monk Weapon, so as the levels progress you may hit with your Charisma AND up the damage of your whip)

      @@arcangherss999 Kensei Monk and Monster Slayer Ranger are definitely my primary preferences. Hell I’m using that build right now. Shield and Shield of Faith have been really really helpful.
      Paladin/Fighter would probably be good too so you can get that “holy warriors that’s been training since they were a kid” kind of feel that the family has. Especially when it comes to the whole “Oath” thing that Leon did. There’s also the smite spells that could be different variations of the Killer/Whip of Alchemy. Searing for the Flame whip, Thunderous Smite for the Lightning whip and what not.

    I don't think Strength based is the right call, I think for most Belmonts Dex makes a lot more sense, with like a 12 or so in strength (Honestly most probably not even that but someone like Trevor, definitely at least 12 Strength). Simon is the exception, since he's absolutely hunky. Medium Armor also just doesn't fit the aesthetic either , almost all Belmonts are wearing no armor or some form of leather, not half-plate (With exceptions such as Leon Belmont who is definitely wearing heavy armor).
    Ranger is still a solid option, dependent on the Belmont (For Simon I'd actually probably consider Zealot Barbarian as weird as that might sound). Ranger works amazingly for the magically inclined Belmonts like Richter or Juste since you do get spellcasting. For someone like Trevor I'd honestly probably go Kensei Monk (Originally drunken master but I forgot whip is not a valid monk weapon unless you're a kensei) instead. And finally for someone like Leon Belmont I'd probably go Vengeance Paladin.

    There is one thing I don't understand, why maximise strength? With the best medium armor you can do 15 + dex (max 2) so 17, with the best light armor you cant do 12 + 5 so still 17, leaving strength to 10, you reach 20 on dex earlier instead of 20 on str, so you can spend better the stat points, and do the same dmg, since you can choose if use dex or strength with whips

I'd put it to a History check simply because belmonts (at least the ones in Walachia) have an expansive and extremely comprehensive library dedicated to weapons(like the dagger), monsters and even magic. It would be less of a check of their religious knowledge and more a check of how well they can remember the stuff they read. Also, i wouldn't put belmonts as rangers, i'd put em as fighters.
