      They were media puppets. Didn't have the spine to speak up. Novak has seen war and struggle since childhood and is a principled man. He decided to lose the chance to win grand slams and legacy in favour of his stance on the so called vaccine. And rafa sort of threw him under the bus.

    Good to see Novak stepping up and continuing what the great Jack Kramer started so many years ago. Tennis wouldn't exist at all without Players playing for prize money, essentially on their own. Whoever these "governing bodies" are don't contribute SHYT. They weren't around when Jack Kramer stood up to Wimbledon and risked everything in the process, so what in the hell is their significance now that the sport is worth hundreds of millions?
    Tennis should be entirely organized by and for players because their are no "owners", no guaranteed salaries, no built in staff, not even travel discounts. Federer and Nadal should get behind this to really push things in the direction it needs to go. It'd be nice to see some women step up too considering they can make millions more than most male players because of sponsorships.

    • @aahyes9068
      @aahyes9068 Год назад

      I'd love to see a women's PTPA push for female players' collective bargaining within the WTA and have issues that have something to do with their own tour and not simply "whatever the men are getting, never mind what they have to do to get it or what revenue they generate or how competitive their lower rankings are, just pay us the same and give us the same network TV coverage, ideally simul-cast, like at the majors". But I'd be shocked to ever see that happen.

    So are the top 20 prepared to take a smaller slice of the money from tournaments so that lower ranked players get more? Remember some national tennis federations don't financially support players that much. The LTA recycles profit from Wimbledon into players but they've not done so very well in the past. Murray was not a product of the LTA system for example. The money is mostly coming from big sponsors.they are only interested in the big names who will attract crowds and TV coverage to increase their public profile.
    Novak, Rafa, Roger will do most good with their academies helping develop young talent, but getting in is always going to be tough. Unfortunately money is the key to everything.
    Novak didn't say much other than the players association needs to focus on structure rather than the top guy. It seems he was trying to avoid upsetting anyone, so most likely lots of different views amongst the players. The winnings of the top 10 are vastly higher than the rest and some current top 10 might not stay there for long.

    • @ljeskovdub1858
      @ljeskovdub1858 Год назад +6

      From what understand. In, for example, MBA players and owners share profit equally (each will take 50%). In tennis that is not the case. Players are only getting around %15 if what I hear is correct. Players want to get bigger share of the profit. Is that unreasonable?

    • @goatkovic
      @goatkovic Год назад +19

      Novak voted multiple times for high ranked players to take a pay cut and increase prize money for lower ranked players. He was highly unpopular with the establishment for this, and heavily criticized by the media. When he was ousted as ATP Council president, Federer and Nadal came back to the council and reversed this decision. The players asked that Novak be reinstated to the council, but the council and ATP didn't allow it, citing his involvement in PTPA as the reason.

    • @got2bharmony
      @got2bharmony Год назад +4

      @goatkovic thank you for that information. Can you cite a reference to the main points? This wouldn't surprise me because Novak has proven to us all that his principles and his moral integrity is such that he's prepared to forfeit major titles rather than be manipulated.
      I've never met him, but IMHO he's a giant in tennis and as a human being. Rafael and Roger are tennis giants,, but I see no evidence that either of them will stand up for what's right. They are both the darlings of the establishment because they do whatever they are told, and of course, their tennis is amazing, and Roger is the most aesthetically beautiful player we've ever seen.
      I hope Novak manages to win the US open as a retort to those corrupt ****s who denied him from playing because of a non-existent risk to the public. Hopefully Biden and Fauci will get their just desserts sometime soon if the Americans can get a grip of things.

    It's a noble cause of course to defend the players but this video is full with emptiness. We learn that the structure of the system is a problem, ok but we do not learn why concretely it is a problem that players do not have enough of a voice and most of all, we do not learn what the current tennis structure needs (title of the video). 3min50 to repeat over and over there is a problem. Would be interesting to know what this organization wants to change and how they envision the future for tennis.

      @@wtcwtc9861 they have higher costs than earnings. If you are ranked outside top100 you are really struggling. Paying for flights for yourself, for whole team, paying for physio, coach, training partner, training facilities. It costs you more than your earnings if you want to have professional team around you that will help you compete against the best ones. And if you get injured for few months you have still great costs but almost no income. Tennis system is a joke. Every grand slam makes over 300-500 millions in profit every year. People in boards and tournaments are earning millions and players outside top100 have nothing from it because they don’t play in that tournament. That’s why players need to have association and stand together to change the system because it is more than enough money in tennis as a sport. Actually tennis is 3rd biggest sport in the world behind soccer and basketball.
