Very nice of them to compliment Ferrer on his physicality and fighting spirit. Even though these guys have a better head to head against him, they know how hard it is to beat Ferrer because he keeps putting the ball back in.
Physical condition is a tricky category. It really much depends on what aspect you take into account. In terms of physical potential, I would also go for Monfils. He's definitely got the best natural athletic potential. But in terms of physical strength resulting from natural ability and hard work, I would probably go for Djokovic. And I would also argue that Federer is often underrated in that regard. His longevity and some of the most impressive features in his game (footwork, running around the backhand, volley,...) all come down to great physical shape and natural ability.
I'd go with: Serve - Isner There are a few players with slightly better records on their first serve, but isner can also back up it up with a great second serve, only roger and rafa have a better second serve win percentage which is incredible considering how much weaker isner is once he gets into a rally. Forehand - Federer Rafa's forehand is better on clay, if someone designed the perfect forehand for clay, I think they'd end up with rafa's forehand. However, his forehand is vulnerable on hard and grass, novak and roger have shown that rafa can be exploited on his forehand side. Backhand - Djokovic Andy also has a pretty reliable backhand but I don't think he can match novak. Wawrinka probably has the best offensive backhand when he's in form, it's inconsistent but on his day he seems to hit winners at will off the backhand. Volleys - Federer Imo this one is the hardest to judge because it's hard to compare volleying ability when players have very different tendencies to get up to the net. Some players will take riskier approaches which results in having to play harder volleys or being exposed to getting passed, while others come in when they have a very strong advantage so have easier volleys and don't lose many points. E.g. Nadal has a great win percentage at the net but doesn't make many risky approaches, whereas someone like mischa zverev comes into the net whenever there is a chance to do so which results in a lower win percentage at the net. I went with roger as he seems to have a good balance, he's got great skills at the net, and has a great net win percentage even though he's willing to take more risky approaches than most players. Athleticism/Movement - Monfils/Djokovic There are many players with better footwork than monfils, but I went with monfils because of his speed across the court, he's not technically perfect with his movement but his raw speed is insane. Djokovic's flexibility and agility has been one of his greatest strengths, he doesn't have the speed of monfils but he can hit shots from positions where any other player would be completely off balance. Mental - Djokovic/Nadal Imo rafa's more consistent mentally, novak sometimes has days where he seems to lose his focus and get distracted by external factors. However, novak can seem unbreakable at the biggest moments, when there is a high pressure moment in the biggest matches novak can turn into immovable object.

Mmm.. I have to disagree with Djokovic on the forehand choice, even though probably nobody cares. I'm sure Delpo can hit the forehand more efficiently from a certain position since he is so tall and he is very good with his movement even on the inside out and the inside in, but Roger can hit his forehand from every position possible due to his footwork, anticipation, reflexes and perception. Also he can hit it flat, spin, all types of angles, whipping, lob, dropshot, squash shot, blocking counterattack, half volley and he can take it early consistently unlike anyone else without compromising his position.

@@radilev1996 maybe .but what i meant is that novak over the years had learned how to deal with nadal's forehand better than everybody .when all the players are struggling with the high bounce and losing the majority of cross court exchanges .novak had huge success in that department recently and the proof is their latest matches .anyway no one can deny how good nadal's forehand is (one of the best ever)

It’s great to see two legends talking, we all see them competing against each other but off the court, they get along and are normal people.
Novak is so humble
For those who don’t want to watch the video here’s the summary:
Novak:
Serve - Isner/Kyrgios
Forehand - Delpo/Federer (picked Delpo in the end)
Backhand - Murray / also mentioned Wawrinka (and Medvedev)
Return - Murray
Volley - Federer
Mental - Nadal (mentioned Federer too)
Physicality - Nadal/ Thiem/ Ferrer
Murray’s picks
Serve - Isner/Kyrgios
Forehand - Nadal
Backhand - Djokovic
Return - Djokovic
Volley - Federer
Mental - Nadal
Physicality - Monfils/Djokovic
Novak picked Murray for the backhand (not himself).
krafthund Oh sorry Must have missed this...
@@anustart-loveeachother7680 Thank you for your correction ;) And for the list.
Is Murray on something? Forehand Nadal? What's he smoking?
@zakaria djouzi haha...i am not a fed fanboy btw. Nadal's FH is weak. That's the truth.
Champions, warriors, giggles... what's not to like. Thanks guys :) x
Serve: Kyrgios
Forehand: Del Potro
Backhand: Wawrinka
Volley: Federer
Work Ethic: Tomic
Both seem very reflected and know a lot about tennis (what a surprise). I’d agree with pretty much all of their choices and there was not one pick where I was thinking like “why the hell did they pick this player” or something in that direction
1st Serve - Filippo Volandri
2nd Serve - Guillermo Coria
Return - Ivo Karlovic
Forehand - Fabrice Santoro
Backhand - Feliciano Lopez
Volley - David Ferrer
Mental - Bernard Tomic/Daniel Kollerer
Fitness - David Nalbandian
A very interesting discussion. I like how they explain the reasons for their choice in details. Insightful and professional.
Serve: Kyrgios
Return: Djokovic
Forehand: Del Potro
Backhand: Djokovic (double hander) & Wawrinka (single hander)
Volley: Federer
Slice: Murray
Lob: Murray
Overhead: Federer
Mental Strength: Nadal
Physicality: Thiem
Serve: Sampras or Roger(for more variety)
Volley: Roger
Footwork: Roger
Mixing up the game: Roger
Mental toughness: Roger or Sampras or nadal or Djokovic(improved since 2011), Sampras is pretty mentally tough too.
Physical(Stamina): Thiem or nadal
Flexibility: Djokovic
Forehand: Roger or Del Potro
Single hand backhand: tough one... Stan or Roger(for more variety)
Double hand backhand: Djokovic or Murray
Smash: Roger or Sampras
Serve & Volley: Sampras or Roger
Trick shots: Roger or Murray or Kyrgios
Slice: Roger or Murray
Serve: John Isner
Return: Novak Djokovic
Forehand: Rafael Nadal
Backhand: Roger Federer
Volley: Roger Federer
Mental Toughness: Novak Djokovic
Physical Stamina: Rafael Nadal
Very nice of them to compliment Ferrer on his physicality and fighting spirit. Even though these guys have a better head to head against him, they know how hard it is to beat Ferrer because he keeps putting the ball back in.
Mine would be:
Serve: Roger Federer
Forehand: Rafa Nadal
Backhand: Novak Djokovic
Volley: Andy Murray
Mental Strength: Novak Djokovic
Physical Condition: Novak Djokovic
Fighting Spirit: Leyton Hewitt
Lob: Andy Murray
Slice: Roger Federer
Speed: Andy Murray
This still wouldn't beat Rafa at the French
ahahahahhahahahah!
Lol
Yes it would easily
Right 😂
hahahahaha the difficult part is that this player has his mentality... this match would be days long
love the respect these 2 legends have for each other 💚
Now I want to see Roger and Rafa make a similar video
Serve: Isner
Return: Djoković
Forehand: Federer
Backhand: Djoković
Volley: Federer
Stamina: Nadal
Psychology/Clutch: Djoković
Offense: Federer
Defense: Djoković
Entertainment: Monfils
Lob: Djoković
Smash: Federer
Shot accuracy: Djoković
Elasticity: Djoković
Physical condition is a tricky category. It really much depends on what aspect you take into account. In terms of physical potential, I would also go for Monfils. He's definitely got the best natural athletic potential. But in terms of physical strength resulting from natural ability and hard work, I would probably go for Djokovic. And I would also argue that Federer is often underrated in that regard. His longevity and some of the most impressive features in his game (footwork, running around the backhand, volley,...) all come down to great physical shape and natural ability.
Murray's answers are so thoughtful!
This was awesome! Now we need Roger and Rafa!
Great convo! So cool to seem them have a chilled, but yet serious convo. Love the openness about the abilities of other players!
I'd go with:
Serve - Isner
There are a few players with slightly better records on their first serve, but isner can also back up it up with a great second serve, only roger and rafa have a better second serve win percentage which is incredible considering how much weaker isner is once he gets into a rally.
Forehand - Federer
Rafa's forehand is better on clay, if someone designed the perfect forehand for clay, I think they'd end up with rafa's forehand. However, his forehand is vulnerable on hard and grass, novak and roger have shown that rafa can be exploited on his forehand side.
Backhand - Djokovic
Andy also has a pretty reliable backhand but I don't think he can match novak. Wawrinka probably has the best offensive backhand when he's in form, it's inconsistent but on his day he seems to hit winners at will off the backhand.
Volleys - Federer
Imo this one is the hardest to judge because it's hard to compare volleying ability when players have very different tendencies to get up to the net.
Athleticism/Movement - Monfils/Djokovic
There are many players with better footwork than monfils, but I went with monfils because of his speed across the court, he's not technically perfect with his movement but his raw speed is insane. Djokovic's flexibility and agility has been one of his greatest strengths, he doesn't have the speed of monfils but he can hit shots from positions where any other player would be completely off balance.
Mental - Djokovic/Nadal
Imo rafa's more consistent mentally, novak sometimes has days where he seems to lose his focus and get distracted by external factors. However, novak can seem unbreakable at the biggest moments, when there is a high pressure moment in the biggest matches novak can turn into immovable object.
This is the perfect list but they were trying to change it up. I like your list better because it is 100 percent right
Agreed! This is probably the best list I've seen!
Federer's forehand hasnt been menacing since 2011
@@TheRafaelBond False, it was in 2017
@@gungeternal4119 true, but thats just been a minor exception in the overall picture.
Absolutely love watching these dudes interact! Awesome!
Murray didnt get the reference at the end lol he celebrated like that against gasquet
He did.
I love listening to Novak talk about Stan's backhand. Being on the receiving end of that cruise missile must have been quite something.
For the overhead smash I'm definitely going for Djokovic
Serve: John Isner
Return: Novak Djokovic
Forehand: Roger Federer
Backhand (right-two hands): Novak Djokovic
Backhand (left-two hands): Rafael Nadal
Backhand (right-one hand): Stanislas Wawrinka
Backhand (left-one han): Denis Shapovalov
Volley: Roger Federer
Half-volley: Roger Federer
Dropshot: Roger Federer
Touch: Roger Federer
Foot-work: Roger Federer
Anticipation: Andy Murray
Flexibility: Novak Djokovic
Endurance: Rafael Nadal
Speed: Alex De Minaur
Consistency: Roger Federer + Rafael Nadal + Novak Djokovic
Fighting spirit: David Ferrer
Champion spirit: Rafael Nadal
Fighting spirit would be Nadal and Hewitt. Ferrer tries hard but doesnt really have that will to win.
@@Mike-lx8ll I agree, he never had the level of self-confidence of a winner, but he still gave his all on court, that's what I understand for fighting spirit
You don't see this kind of respect in any other sport, maybe motorsport but it's not on the level of Tennis. The Greatest sport in the world and i miss it dearly!
It kind of amazes me that Djoko didn't pick himself on the categories that he clearly dominates. I don't know if he's humble or just an act, but mad respect. I would have chosen Nole for backhand, return and mentality. I'm a Roger fan, but it's a no brainer in their current form.
Ok Fed fan. You need to chill. But i agree! haha.
@@goodandrew6432 Lol :)
Djokovic could easily pick himself for returns, backhand and mentality...The guy is a beast.. no disputes..
Delpo's forehand is the best power wise, but if you combine power, precision and consistency, Nadal's FH is better.
Truth
Nadal's FH only the best on clay
Federer's FH is the best.
djokovic not mentioning nadal's forehand ,i think it's because his forehand is not the one he struggled with the most throughout his career
ruclips.net/video/OV3jsTtsWps/видео.html
He's mentioned before about how Nadal's forehand is a monster
Well Nadal is the player who has beaten Djokovic the most. Obviously vice versa too, but still. He probably meant in another way that Delpo's the best even tho we obviously know it ain't. At least not in terms of consistency.
@@moadrehhali5120 Coming from that point of view I agree, but still I don't believe that Novak has struggled more to Delpo than Nadal so he probably meant just in a technical or power way. Del Po has a very solid forehand, but ain't that damaging.
Love this Andy and Novak... keep it coming. Can you talk about next generation please!! Who will take over the mantel of the top 4?
"He warms up?!?!" Djoker about Kyrgios... :)
We love you, Novak ! Andy, kisses from Serbia, you are a super player and charismatic man.
I always feel that you can’t pick Isner’s serve unless your perfect player is 6 ft 11
I guess that what we mean by "perfect" though - you can have the serve of a 6'11 man but the movement of someone 6'1
Karlovic 1 serve is better than Isner, less physical demanding, but in the second serv Isner is better.
Brandon M I think Kyrgios is a good shout. Roddick has a massive serve at 6 ft 2
@@_nuno3852 I think they are going with the overall serve (which would include 1st and 2nd serve). You got to go with Isner since his 2nd serve is way better than Karlovic, and his 1st serve is almost as good. www.atptour.com/en/stats/leaderboard?boardType=serve&timeFrame=52Week&surface=all&versusRank=all&formerNo1=false
Nuno sad agreed
From 2003-2020:
Serve: Roger (Mixes it up with every spin, pace and lenght, with the same throw, and also amazing 2nd serve that is most important)
Forehand: Rafa (Can create winners from every corner, amazing running forehand, has a spin and pushes the other player back with every stroke, not even with his "transport-strokes" the opponent can rest.)
Backhand: Novak (Hardly ever misses, can mix the tempo and create angels, down the line is probably the best ever and that's why he has beaten Rafa on clay more than anyone.)
Volley: Roger (Touch, short volleys, half volleys, serve and volley, goes to the net at the right moments)
Mental: Rafa (Every point is match point, every game is a grand slam final. And every stroke is a perfect balance between risky and safe. It must be horrible to face him when you are not in the lead.)
Psysical: Roger (Super underrated this one. Hardly ever injured in 20 years, moves amazingly and effortless on the court, that is the result of one thing, core strenght and atletisism).
There are players that maybe has one game or match or even a tournament, but you must look at the consistant lenght the last two decades.

Good picks but Novak could have picked himself for Backhand, return (though Murray is tied IMO), and mentality. Mentality I think Novak's peak is higher than Rafa but yes over career, Rafa has always had that bulldog mentality and quick ability to turn up the gas.
"Peak" is nonsense, how would you even define that or know how that's distributed? That sounds like sports fan manufactures narratives. The fact is, Rafa has been at tough as you can mentally be since 16 years old on tour, also the greatest fighting spirit

@zakaria djouzi ofcourse rafa is a goat, I am not saying that. But stop denying the statistics. Federer figured out his game in 2017 and tore him apart. Djokovic always knew what he had to do but in 2019 it was probably the biggest win of his career win he played with nadals forehand.

Both these guys are very honest ....
Andy used to get on my nerves before but now i miss him and i miss that rivalry Novak/Murray as number 1 and number 2 they dominated for so many years. But it would take Murray long to come back to where he was. I hope he does.we miss tennis. Let's pray corona will allow at least end of the season to happen. 😓
Djokovic has the best return, backhand, mental tied with Rafa, lob, defense, and still has a very good forehand and serve
Who else thinks there will be one more big match up between these guys?
Murray would probably have 10+ majors if he’d played in a different era. 3 and 2 Olympic golds is an amazing career but having to play those other 3 consistently made massive success almost impossible.
