  • Introducing, an electrifying new paddle for "the most electrifying man in sports". The Magnus is Tyson McGuffin's signature paddle and JOOLA’s first paddle shape with a short 5” handle and elongated shape. It brings all of the revolutionary GEN 3 technology with an extra elongated shape that makes the paddle more head heavy than the other GEN 3 models, leading to more power and spin.
This is a dream paddle for anyone with a one handed backhand, or who likes to play aggressive with power and spin just like Tyson McGuffin. Check out our review!

How does it compare to his Selkirk counterpart Power air Invekta?

Other than the handle length difference between this and the Perseus, do they both play similarly? I hit with the Magnus down in LA but didn't get to try the Perseus and I do use 2 hands often with singles, so may consider this as an option. Thx

I don't really need another paddle but probably going to order the 14MM anyway

I got the 14mm Magnus and it is by far the best paddle I have ever used.

I hope gen 3.5 or 4 gets dubbed “ultra”. Ultra Magnus would be rad.

Can’t believe this is now on the banned list, such a beast of a paddle. 😢

    Isn’t the Magnus 5” handle..?

I hit both of these before I chose the 14mm, and I completely disagree with your assessment about pop and control. I found the 14mm slightly less poppy than the 16mm, but FAR easier to control at the NVZ. I think it is because of the way the core works the ball sinks deeper in the 16mm face and thus rebounds a lot more forcefully.

You mean the Gen 3 Tyson’s model? I was contemplating getting one but I heard the feel is too soft

Iv played with both the 14 and 16. The 16 you actually get more power and less control. If you hit with a lot of spin like me, I come from tennis, you can use that to your advantage. I personally am getting the 16 because with the spin I can give it, I know I can control it. The best thing to do though is demo. That’s what I did before deciding which was better. I was between the Hyperion and the Magnus. I have a one handed backhand so I loved the Magnus. The Hyperion was nice but I actually liked the shorter handle

This has been the goal of paddle mfg. FOREVER!!
it's the "trampoline effect"...as he noted in Table Tennis and Tennis.."Dwell" is created and the ball will "cling/stick" on the paddle longer. The 16mm should be pretty soft at the net.
The trampoline will spring the ball off with more power on the 14mm...
I discuss all of this with my Beginning students when we discuss paddles and differences..
    We'll see on these..
