@@TrackandTuner Not quite, the Zackspeed Turbo Capri was a monster and still is. However, it generated about 600 hp max, wich is stil extremely high for an 80s 4 banger with a displacement of 1,7L. The most astounding thing on thi car must be the turbocharging system, the original engine had very little turbo lag.
TrackandTuner records the Zakspeed Capri Turbo. This turbo monster is a 850kg race car featuring a Ford Cosworth BDA (modified by Zakspeed) 1.75-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine which in its last evolution was able to produce 700HP at 9000 rpm. This car has been freshly built by Zakspeed and was in action for the first time at the Nürburgring GP during the AvD Oldtimer GP. Step onboard this great Ford and enjoy the video.
It sounds incredible what i wouldnt give for a chance to experience a passenger ride (I realise its single seat but wow every capri fans dream right there including me. I always think the zakspeed would be better with a tuned v6 as most of the high end road going capris but i suppose it was more about weight saving and high revving capability that made it a more favourable choice
Tiny engine, big turbo, light chassis: A recipe for an iconic race car. I only wish the American Mustang version was being raced, instead of gathering dust in a collection.
Ein sehr schönes Auto!! Mein Lieblings REKORD.
I know that modern gearbox is matter, but when i watched he driving this absolute gorgeous monster makes me rethink what a skillful racing driver back then. Racing cars back then creates skillful racing driver. Sorry to all modern race car lovers.
@@cam_121 You can see, that lambda value on the display. On throttle it is a bit higher then 0.8. Of throttle they use the fuel to cool the engine but on part throttle it is to rich, which gives those missfires. So you are not wrong i guess.
The misfires are definitely the TC. Now why it runs rich off throttle is just because it is a Kugelfischer mechanical injections. These are a nightmar to tune for good power AND good overrun/part load.
Pure pornography! There should be some kind of warning before you can watch this video….OMG. It’s one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard. Perfection.
It takes some skill to drive these , theyre not like newer racecars with all sorts of driving aids. Have a look at Erick Zakowski capri video, i dare you to say he is slow 😆😆
This car might be my favorite of the '70s/'80s Group 5 racing cars. Racing in that era was so much better than the boring events of today.

The fact it was holding level against a mid 2000s DTM car on the start shows just how mad these cars are
Even modern supercars now. This thing weights nothing and can produce over 700HP. So 1 to 1 power /KG ratio just like Koenigsegg

Für mich als Fan waren und bleiben die Gruppe5 Zakspeed, das non plus Ultra. So was Genial geiles gibt es nicht noch einmal.

The Mucke Motorsport Zakspeed Capri was running away from the DTM 4 wheel drive Audi.
4wd Audi ???!

These Zakspeeds are legends!....Good job driving but that DTM Audi was too much and that black Zakspeed was gone.

@@TrackandTuner not a major issue at all, just some adjustment on the carb and it should be fine.

Driving one of these cars was a nightmare. No sequential, no abs/tcs, a lot of turblo lag.
The one in the video has TCS
Davon wurden nur Fünf Fahrzeuge gebaut.
Warum gibt es solche Autorennen nie mehr. Überhaupt ohne Sequenz Getriebe. Es gab eine Kupplung und man musste den Schalthebel richtig einstellen

The gasoline-air mixture is too rich. Probably to protect the engine. However, it costs performance.
