    Your long bus ride seemed more luxurious than our 9 hour bus ride from Quito to Manta. Glad to see you made it safely!

      Yes I think because Colombia has such long road trips they have these big buses, the same for Peru but I do appreciate Ecuadors shorter travel times

    Definitely an experience.
    I have taken the bus in Ecuador a couple times, depending on the driver it can be quite the roller coaster and there are many busses that get in accidents.
    There are a couple choices of bus services but the first class busses usually do not stop to pick up passengers in between departure and arrival points.
    The arepas look different than the ones I had in Quito, although they were made by someone from Colombia.
    Look forward to your next video.

      Arepas are like bread, they vary between region to region, can have fillings inside the arepa or can be sliced and something put in the middle. I don't like the deep fried ones but grilled are quite nice.

      12 years ago I went everywhere by bus in Colombia and it was a much different story, it wasn't as nice but it was also just as cold. I do not understand why, maybe to keep the smell down? But people literally have clothing that they wear only on the buses and everyone had a blanket.

    • @ayngelina
      @ayngelina  Год назад

      Just that people on the coast and other areas have clothing solely for the bus. People get on with big downfilled coats. And then they have a big fleece blanket. Why do they do this on the buses? It’s the worst part of bus travel there.

    • @AhmedTesjeel

      @ayngelina No I took a taxi for 4 $ to the border, the bus was from Cuenca to Tulcan

    • @ayngelina
      @ayngelina  Год назад

      I did that the opposite way in 2010 and the bus broke down in Colombia so we reached the border at 11pm and it was closed. The bus just left us there and a man on the bus offered to take me to a hotel his friend owned but I got a weird feeling so I insisted on going off on my own. My Spanish wasn't great at the time so he may have been a nice person just trying to help but nighttime at the border isn't the moment to take a risk.

    Another excellent video! Did you say how much the bus fare was?
    Do you know if an equivalent large comfortable seat bus experience can be purchased going from Guayaquil or Quito to Cuenca?

    • @ayngelina
      @ayngelina  Год назад +1

      it was 130000 COP which I think is $27 or half the price of a flight. I don't know if Ecuador has buses like these because there are no long distances in Ecuador like in Colombia. But I have taken the regular bus from Quito to Cuenca several times and unless you're taking the regular fare I'd fly, as the national carriers often have deals for $50. And for Guayaquil to Cuenca I'd take a shuttle or private transfer. Andres actually will pick people up and on the way he stops at the place where I shot the fruit video and takes people for lunch and then he takes them to Cajas for the places people most like to take photos. I actually did this with him when he picked me up in Guayaquil as he was asked to take 2 other people who watched my videos so they didn't mind having a third person in the car.

    • @pedroblanco8311
      @pedroblanco8311 Год назад

      @@ayngelina Thanks for letting us know. You're absolutely right on your points. I know you don't speak for Andrés, however do you have a general idea of what his price range is for what I'll term shuttle service?

    • @ayngelina
      @ayngelina  Год назад

      No idea at all, he charges me in bulk monthly and I just pay whatever he asks. But I'd reach out to him on whatsapp. I thought it was a really nice introduction for others as the drive through Cajas is beautiful and he shares a lot.
      Also at the lunch stop they had traditional drinks that you don't find elsewhere, the people we were with didn't think they wanted to try it but he bought it anyway because he knew this was their only chance unless they planned to go to the Cotacachi market.

      I was just so happy that they allowed me on the bus without my passport. And then while traveling I only had an issue in one hotel. They wanted me to show a document from my embassy that this is what happened but they don't do that. So I told them that if they didn't accept my photo I'd have to go somewhere else and they relented.

    How is your Spanish ?

    • @ayngelina
      @ayngelina  Год назад

      I'd say intermediate. I'm Canadian so I didn't speak it in school and mostly learned from traveling in Latin America the last ten years. I can speak simple future, past tenses and as I've spent so much time around people who don't speak English I have a really good vocabulary. So I only speak Spanish in Colombia. But my imperfect tenses are bad, so when people ask why I don't speak Spanish on screen it's because it would be like hearing from a 7 year old 🤣

      130 000 COP or just under 27 USD and half the price of a flight. A lot of people split the trip in 2, stopping along the way but with rainy season and landslides I thought it was best to go direct.
