You took 10 minutes to solve a problem that the Wix call center staff and their supervisors could not solve and still haven't solved for 3 days now: How to have elements stretch across the page but still be within the dotted boundaries. Thank you.
so far you are articulating and explaining the most critical structure - the relationship between a strip and a page - everyone else just describes what they do as they do it..great job-
I've been building my website from scratch for around 6 weeks now. I just keep coming back to this tutorial and each time it makes more sense. Thanks for your help. it is very useful.
Thank you so much for going over this! I have been trying to figure out how to align responsive elements for hours!!
Wow this was potent! I am offically addicted to your videos. This is the first channel that I have found that actually explains things well, and with the goal of achieving maximum quality. It is clear from your thinking that quality is embedded in the work that you do, and that you would never think of doing something willy-nilly. I look forward to watching all of your videos.😀
Great tip! I'll definitely be applying this on my first project. It really looks great, thank you so much!
Thank you! This was super helpful. I was a little lost with columns in Wix. Now they make much more sense!
Brilliant!! The column and header trick is superb and fixes a big issue I had. Liked and subscribed!!
That's amazing! Thanks so much for this video...After working in Wix and developing over 25 sites for clients, I continue to learn every day -- and this was fantastic!
I'm not a fan of responsive websites like WP, but this gives me the opportunity to have certain elements responsive while still maintaining a 'fixed' site.
Thanks so much -- great video!!!
Hello peregrine...pls can you share how you get client?
I've been searching for this video for hours, finally someone explaiing how to make wide responsive elements. Thanks man, you're life saver!
Glad it helped!!
I tried the strips....but when I put an element (text or image) on the strip but outside of the grid lines (page)...then those elements (on the strip) are not responsive...Am I doing something wrong? Have you placed any elements outside the grid lines and on the strip? Thank you ...
oh my gosh, you're a freaken king!! finally found someone who actually EXPLAINS this stuff simply and straight to the point! thanks bro!!
Thank you for this. Searched high and low to find this. Glad to have come across your tutorials.
This was really great for me. Thank you. Very well presented too.
One of the best and useful channels for WIX users.
Thank you so much and keep up the great work bro!
Please, I have a problem with the header part.
When I try to align the space to the right, this dashed line does not appear exactly in the middle, but a little to the side... im doing the same things you do in the video :(
This was epic. I appreciate the tutorial bro. I just went and downloaded the overlays from your website.
I’m glad you found the tutorial useful and I really appreciate it!! Thank you so much!! Working on adding more to the pack soon!
This might be the most useful tutorial WIX video I have watched. Thank you!
I’ve been watching other explain this and by far this is the best!!
Very clear! Excellent teacher!! Do you have chance have a video that reviews just a section vs. using strips ? That would be so so so helpful.
Thank you so much, spent 3 weeks trying to figure this out and you made a lot make sense in 10 minutes
Super clear and helpful! Thanks for putting this together. :)
Just started with Wix and this is what i was looking for. Thanx for sharing this.
Such great information. Thank you. I’m just getting started with Wix, so I liked and subscribed.
You're a life-saver! I could not figure out why my png wasn't working when I used a strip background. But there wasn't any way to get it to fill to the edges of the full page when I just dropped the png in. I didn't think to change the background color of the actual strip. Thank you!
Awesome video! Thank you!
what a great video man, thanks so much. Nice and clear but most of all, usefull.
This is very helpful, exactly what I was looking for today! Thanks a lot

Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome, thank you for sharing!
I have an issue though, when I add my paralax to my images or my strip I want to be able to see the top of my image because it is a picture of a person? I've tried everything to get the image to be at the top and not cut the top of the heads off. thanks again
YOU ARE AH-MAZING!!!! Thanks so much.
Mind blown! I have been needing these tips for a long time!
Glad you found it useful!!
@@wixfix Is there a way to make a slide show a paralax? The hero on my Home page is a slide show and I would love for it to be a paralax, but I haven't found a way to do it.
@@lisachriss4933 Unfortunately it is not possible when using slideshow elements.
Thank you so much, have been looking for a way to do this.
So good thank you
I had about 10 different conversations with Wix on how to manually input height and width, they constantly told me it's not possible sorry... you should be recommended by them haha
Great video thanks! I've put in a 'repeater' on my services page but checking it now whilst resizing, I see it isn't responsive. How can I change that? Thanks
Excellent ..you made it looks so easy
Thank you 😊
Was struggling for hours for this! Such a great tutorial man thank you! Facepalming myself that I didn’t know they were called strips 😂
Glad it helped! When I first started with Wix, I had to learn that as well. Kinda an odd name for it.
thanks man you saved me
Big help! Thanks!
Glad it helped!
Nice stuff!
Hi Friend! thank you so much for your explanation. Very helpfully
Glad it was helpful!
excellent!
Great thanks...
I found your video super helpful, although for some reason I cannot attach a strip to my header?? Also, my page layout button when I select the strip is greyed out so I cannot divide into two sections for the responsive header. I would really appreciate your help. Any ideas as to why this is? Thanks, I've subscribed :)
I followed the exact steps for the strips but when I scale it down the column overlaps the other column, any suggestions? Great vid by the way
Thanks for demonstrating the strips concept. But, I wish you added the mobile view side into the video. 80% websites are mobile viewed. It would had been nice to see what happens to the mobile side after designing, adding, and then changing strips or any other elements on the desktop. What most users are not aware that any changes to the desktop design can be a complete mess on the mobile side, and they need to take this into consideration before designing their website. So, strips added or making changes to in desktop design will cause elements to go out of line or rearrangement on mobile layout. This has been an issue with Wix for years and not been address till this date. Otherwise, great job!
Yes editing mobile is a very important part of any website. I talk about mobile a lot on this channel. Consider subscribing to learn more about mobile content on Wix in future uploads!
Do you have a video for how this works with larger screen sizes?
Thanks for the your video! I‘m struggling a bit with my strips. I would like to create a picturemenu with two strips for the welcome screen that mirrors my textmenu on the top of the side. Is it possible to link a picture in a strip to another page? I tried it with a transparent button without text but the button isn‘t fixed in the strip when I open the page on the iPad, it expands although I made the frame of the button a bit smaller than the strip. Would be nice if anybody could help me here, have a nice day!
is there a way to change the overlay of columns (e.g. text box in column 1 should overlay column 2)?
Hey, you shared really good tip! But what about "header section" if I want to make menu not in the center but in the right corner.. How to make it "responsive"?
Check out our video for how to make wider websites. Hope that helps!
Any advice on how to modify a pre-made strip? I “inherited” a wix website and don’t have a clue what I’m doing, but I need to change the picture on the right side of one of Wix’s ready-made strips.....
hey bro how do i get my price to change when my customer selects a different size on my dynamic product page?
I cannot add the nice rounded border at the end of the strip with the new editor. Can you please explain how to do it?
Now i found nowdays’s Wix, you don’t need to split the columns to make the page responsive and don’t need to create the illustration image as it already have the boundary options. Am I correct?
Are the strips also pages?? Thanks
Great video. I am going over the tutorial but I am not able to find the overlay... It takes me to a website but I am not able to find the overlay... Has anyone else had a similar issue?
Problem solved. Thanks
Wow after watching this i realized how crap my arrangement of content in sites i make lol
Thanks for teaching this
I dont have all the options for how a strip is animated i only have face and scroll?
I learned something. Would have liked to have seen how this translates to a mobile website.
SIr, please make a 1 hour video of Online Store ( 2 - 3 videos ), Offline Shop Webs ( Garment, Restaurant) , and so on. Thankyou #please :)
Does anyone know how to disable pinch zoom on mobile version?
So are strips no longer a thing for Wix...? Cuz I can't even find any mention of it when I search for it. And all I want is a small banner for my site :/
When using a strip...You have to put the elements inside the gridlines....However, when placing an image...but you click on "change the background" instead of "add an image" it will be responsive.... I tried and checked on my cell, Ipad ...and one smaller LG tablet 9 inches... I do not know about any other sizes.... Could this be possible ? Thank You ...
Is there a possible way to add padding to a strip on the mobile editor horizontally? Like wix let’s you resize the strip vertically but I want add spacing on the side of strips instead
Is that possible? (Hopefully this makes sense)
That makes sense but unfortunately that is not possible in the classic editor. You can use boxes to accomplish the same effect though.
@@wixfix I can’t believe I haven’t thought of that…thank you so much, Your channel is really helpful!
This is fine for normal pages but there seems to be no way to utilize this for product/store pages, meaning half the website will be responsive while the other part - the store- won't be ?
I tried this and it doesn't work on my homepage. 😔 I've added a full width scrolling banner on my homepage, on the first page of the banner I have text on the left hand side. I've added two columns and made the content align to the left for that column. This looks fine on my widescreen desktop monitor but on my laptop, I can't view what's on the left hand side of the page. Also if I shrink the window on my desktop it cuts off the text on the left of the strip 😰
can you add your shop in to a strip I want my store to span the website and then I want to parallax it
You can not add parallax to the shop elements because they can't be used as strip backgrounds. However, if you're using the normal shop element, there should be an option to stretch it the full width of your website!
my wix website not opening after running few days.
Love the video, but when I try and insert the image into Wix's media dashboard, it says it isn't an image.
Look at the file types that Wix supports and double check what you're uploading is one of the supported file types. If it is already, try deleting browser caches. If that doesn't work, then you may have to reach out to Wix support.
@@wixfix I figured it out. Thanks!
My image will not fit, how can i fix it please
Hard to know without seeing the image and strip you're using. But maybe the image is not wide enough. Maybe it is too wide and you need to edit/crop it. Maybe check the background strip image settings and under the "Scale and Positioning" make sure that it is set to "Scale to fill". Hope this helps!
I tried the strips....but when I put an element (text or image) on the strip but outside of the grid lines (page)...then those elements (on the strip) are not responsive...Am I doing something wrong ? Thank you !
All elements must be in the strip gridlines to be responsive. You can change the position of the gridlines in the strip settings though. Hope that helps!
@@wixfix Thank you... How many times, I have spoken with WIX support...no answer..did not know the answer...I told them that the strips were useless... if the elements wont
show - outside the main grid lines (page).. - still did not correct me...until I saw your video... I do appreciate it.. Thank you !!!
For some reason the rounded border doesn't work right for me
Try watching my image overlay video. It goes more in depth about how to apply these!
06:40 How to make photo Strips ?
Tried paying for your your overlays without success. Is there an alternative?
Hey Ticko. Sorry to hear you were having issues with getting the overlays. Can you describe your experience on what happened so we can try to resolve the issue?
@@wixfix Hi Wix Fix. Thank you for replying. It just tells me there's an error in processing my card. I checked my card with the bank and everything is okay with it. Tried again and got the same message. Not sure what else to do.
I can't download the Rounded Border
It should be on my website. Let me know if you’re still having issues downloading it
