In my experience, the "droop" setup causes the piston to sit above the shock oil. I installed the shorty springs under the piston and haven't had any trouble since.
Had this happen once. Had to much oil in it and didnt bleed the air correctly. I restarted buy emptying oil and putting alittle less in and bled. Havent had an issue since. Really rate the desert lizards
I wanted to like them....I find the spring grinds inside creating drag and the shock oil needs to be changed VERY frequently. With enough spring drag the inside diameter gets enlarged and causes a number of problems
Typically if they stick it’s air trapped inside the shock in my experience. You might want to flip the shocks so that the body is closer to the axle. It will help your COG. I’m surprised that you run such a light fluid in them. I typically run a 35F/45R in most of mine as a base line, but a RGT is lighter than most 1/0 trucks. Looking forward to more videos
If I'm not mistaken the 2 o-rings do not go together the spacer goes between the 2 o-rings 👍 that's how i build all of my shocks and they work very well so 😎
Well i believe with these, the plastic spacer has to go on top because that c clip keeps pressure on the spacer which keeps everything together. I could see that being a better idea/design though. Thanks for the comment brother. 👍
@@arkansasrcnewbie My apologies I totally forgot about the retainer clip I don't own desert lizard shocks but they do look pretty nice hope they work to you're liking 👍🏼
They are amazing, imo ive never had this problem. I do think there hydrolocked, they are definitely a pain to set up. Took me 4 hours to set mine up the way i like em. Rebuthem probably 10 times till i got it right. I run 15wt oil in mine, never leaked nor had i have to rebuild them over time. Just bought another set 120mm as the first 100mm set kinda forced me to run a half sprung set up with the massive proline mickey thompson baja pro.
Man thank you for the comment, it's nice someone commenting and explaining what they do. Everyone's quick to point a finger and leave, I appreciate that very much. Thanks, it does seem like the plastic disc is making contact with the bore.
No problem, i thred them on about 5 turns making them gush excess oil out than before tightening them fully down i push and hold the shaft at its lowest possible point. Hold it down the whole time till there tight. Helps ensure theres no air and the right amount of oil. Hope you get em working for good, they truly are a top notch set of shocks 👍
Enjoy your videos. Recently got into crawling and I’m located in NWA. Was wanting to make a trip down to Hot Springs area to participate in a comp. I don’t have any social media and not sure how to connect with clubs in area.
Hey brother, that sounds like a mess lol. 😳 I can try to mention on a video when the schedule comes out. Either that or you can also look in the comment section for Luke Norman, ask him. He is the president
You should have done one axle first and let it rest for a day. Then after the 'stuck' shocks had time to stick, then done a left test to truly see if it fixed it when this was filmed.
😂 Man I have seen these too! Now don't quote me on this but I do believe the reason is to help with the vehicles center of gravity. Since the bore of the shock holds oil and has more material, mounting upside down keeps the weight down "literally". Number 2 is the decompression, since crawlers need to have the low center of gravity, mounting upside down helps with the compression of the shock, less movement. I think 🤔 lol thanks for watching brother and I hope this helps!

Very good comment thanks brother. Please watch the newest video that just came imma stick the desert lizards on the Redcat
lol. I went with the DLs because of the sticking Traxxas shocks. Fortunately, I did this exact fix anticipating the issue and it works great.
Glad to hear it man 👍 There not bad once they work lol.
Just received my desert lizards today. I’ll put em on this weekend. Glad to see the fix worked out for you. Thanks for sharing bro.
Awesome! Hope they workout great for ya. Mine are a little contancoress lol, but I am new. Good luck and thanks for watching brother. 🤘👍

Well thank you brother. I will mount them upside down, it really is starting to drive me nuts. Also imma check your channel 😉
I won't be buying them then
I was given a free container of this from my local hobby shop. I used it on the shocks. No idea I needed something like this.
Totally right man! Stuff was like 8 bucks and damn it did the job! Lol

Great video! This may be a dumb question, but why do I see videos of the DL shocks being mounted upside down? Thanks for the help!

Your shocks are air locking... Bleed them
I will see what i can do, thanks man. I also may just mount them upside down 👍Someone mentioned them

Is all this tinkering and modifying Wolfman approved? 🤣
That's why it's my channel!
Do you not have upper springs in them?
No upper springs, just negative pressure from the one around the piston under the cap.
Never had or heard of anyone having this issue.all I run is DLs.
Man, it's so weird... I am thinking the plunger may have been too big for the bore?
Yeah you never know.try to sand the edges
Nice rc👌
Thank you!!!
Just got a pair!! And having similar problem!!
Thanks for this!!
Big sub!!
Check me out sometime!!!
Well thank you brother! Hopefully you can get your ls rockin👍 I think some of the bore is off and the tuning disc is too big l... Thanks for the SUB!
Use 80 weight not spring air.
You didnt prep them right nor put the right oil in them. I have no issues with mine and 35 weight oil.
Well....what should I of done on the prep?
You Didn't bleed the correct
🥸Me? Lol The Arkansas RC NEWBIE??
