I have used SU since V2 in 2002 and I did not know about combine textures. Thanks for this

Excellent tutorial and thank you Tammy. You have a wonderful calmness which really makes learning from you more effective.
I have one question - we are renovating and are trying to model a variety of claddings. Some of these have vertical grooves, set about 200mm apart with the grooves being 10mm wide and 2mm deep. Is there a way to be able to leverage textures and "paint" such a 3D surface onto our house model? The alternative seems very time consuming as it's a fairly complex building, unless there's a better way.
In any case, many thanks and warm regards from Sydney - David 🙂

Hi David! Yes, you can certainly create this as a texture and apply it to the surface of your model. Feel free to contact me directly with more information and I can help you think through this.

@@SketchUpforInteriorDesigners Hi again Tammy - solved my problem with a great extension called 1001bit Tools, allowing the easy creation of grooves on any face along with a host of other wonderful architectural wonders. Many thanks and cheers - David

I appreciate the video and how easy you make it look. I am just learning sketchup. I am using sketchup go on my ipad. I have done everything 100 times exactly the way youve done it but when I select the grout, color it and then try to make unique texture nothing happens. It seems that I should be able to make this texture even on the ipad version or am I wrong? trying not to get frustrated. Any Idea why it's not working for me?

Isn’t half inch a bit large for a grout line?

Excellent video well done, however when I go to the texture part you say to leave the boxes for the pixels blank, mine had numbers in the box and when I deleted them so they were blank it said they were needed, also on the part that you say you can sample and apply it in repeat, how and where did that paint pop up, what did you click on to show the paint and how to do repeat?

Thank you for sharing. Is there a way to use the texture and still be able to add materials to the tile?

Hi Sharon! Once you choose "combine textures" you won't be able to alter each tile. But you can save a copy of the geometry before you combine the textures for future use to change as needed.
