In case anyone needs to change midi drum tempo to match the song - go to midi clip source properties - check ignore song tempo and change bpm to match the song!
Great video on this subject. I discovered the Action list solution when dealing with the same tempo but the song had 4/4 for the majority of the song with 2/4 bars throughout and the regular tempo change method didn't address all the bars at once. The 'tempo envelope: Increase (or decrease) all tempo markers 01 BPM came in real handy.
Let’s say I saved project with a BPM of 140, but I should have used 70. This results in a measure from going from 1 to 8. I actually want that measure to go from 1 to 4. I don’t want the speed of the tracks to go any different. Thanks.
My drum tempo changes, yet my instrument tempo stays the same, my drum is at 65bpm, yet my guitars and vocal are still at 69bpm.....any reason why this is..??? Thanks
Can anyone help , what I’m trying to do is start at one tempo , then midway I’m going to do half tempo then slow it all the way down , I just don’t know how to break up the sections , and ezdrummer changes if I move the bpm manually
Hi. Silly question: how would I change the number of items per se in an individual track to match up them up “better” with the length of that of another track?? For instance, an item on one track is at 3.5 seconds total while there’s six items total at .7 seconds on another and I would like to change that number of items to five if possible?? Thanks
Hello, i have a doubt. When I change tempo envelope, there are some few tracks or items that wont follow that new bpm. I don't know why it happens, may because those items/tracks were imported from another session?
The issue I’m having is that despite the tempo being default 120 in reaper, the tempo of my song is 90 bpm. So I want to change the metronome tempo to 90 bpm to match the song. But when I try to do this, it changes the tempo of the song. I have no idea why my song and the global tempo setting is out of phase
Yeah I imported some stems for a song at 100 bpm but did not change the tempo prior. Now I guess I gotta re-import them or maybe use that time-base setting.
@@TomAtkinson there's an action to reinterpret BPM - i don't remember what it's called but it exists, you tell it what BPM the items SHOULD be and it adjusts the rate
Kenny, I have a song that ritards in a couple of spots. I'm able to play all the instruments myself. Is it easiest just to not use the metronome and simply play by feel (no click track), or is there another way?
There's no best way. I would probably play the ritard how you want, and see if you can follow it on the other instruments. If not, create a click that goes with the first one for the others to follow. Good luck.
Being a new user, I recorded a few songs into Reaper, without setting the BPM. So now if I open the project, it is not showing the correct BPM for what the actual tempo is supposed to be. Sorry if that's confusing, but now when I change the BPM to what the original song is supposed to be, for editing purposes, it effects the original tempo. My question is, If I recorded a song being played at 85 BPM, while reaper was set at 120 BPM, How do I make the change of the 85 BPM to show 85 BPM, without effecting the actual tempo of the original song?
Change the tempo to what you want globally as shown in video, then open item properties by double clicking your clip(s), and change playback rate to 1 and click apply.
Easy Way: Goto 'file/project settings' change 'Timebase for items/ envelopes/markers' from 'beats ( position/ length/ rate)' to 'beats (position only) press 'ok' then you can adjust the tempo without affecting the items.
@@REAPERMania It doesn't for me, and everywhere I've looked has people saying the same thing. I looked up how to gradually tempo change audio files in REAPER (already rendered, like a file you'd drag from your file explorer into REAPER) and everyone else that's tried the same thing finds the audio files only tempo change by manually dragging them through the area in the tempo markers. The audio files do not change tempo gradually with the area in between the markers, like anything in a MIDI would.
@@sipikofficial I havent done this before, but i cant seem to get it to work with an audio recording . I have a recorded multitrack of a song with drums and scratch tracks about 15 channels total and we didnt record to a click since we didnt want to and the start was slightly fast so i just want to adjust the tempo for that beginning part, but when i try and set markers the only marker that changes the speed is the first one. When i try to change to the original tempo (speed) maybe like 20-30 seconds after the song start it still plays at the same speed/tempo while the BPM setting does change as it should, it seems odd that it wont change when you can change it for the whole track. I thought it would be a neat and easy fix, but it seems that i may have to do some slip editing instead unfortunately. BTW i dont care to have it aligned with the tempo/click or anything, the idea was just to slow it down slightly so that the start doesnt feel rushed.
Did somebody ever tell u that you speak like a robot ? hahah Anyway very cool videos. I am new into Reaper and I love it (and it is also because of your videos :-)
I thought i was the only one thinking that, his voice goes up in tone and down in tone to the same notes very mechanically. Im not trying to put him down or anything BTW, he does a great job, but it sounds a bit unnatural.

Totally agree with that!!
Interesting discussion on the percent vs absolute changes. Never thought of it that way.
Excellent. Reaper just gets cooler and cooler. Thanks.
I'm never leaving REAPER. It has the best community 💯🤙

I no have words to say how cool you are Kenny, real reaper ninja.Very useful info about global tempo change with a lot of tempo envelopes nodes..
OMG!! It's so simple when you know how. Once again Kenny you saved the day. Thank you 👍😁

Are you micing the keyboard/enter click separately? Or is it just being picked up by the mic. It's super clear.
It's a sample. :)

Hi, how to do the same kind of thing using real audio to create rubato inside certain measure for instance....
But how to do it only by automation envelope like for example in Cubase or Studio One?
That is so cool, especially the % approach
HOW DO YOU CHANGE TEMPO WITHOUT AFFECTING THE MIDI TRACKS INTERNAL TEMPO, IN OTHER WORDS; ADJUST TEMPO TO MIDI
so when u say it helps to keep the tempo change "in proportion", what exactly does that mean? thanks!

What would it have sounded like if you wouldn't have selected a percentage and just went with BPM?
so if you don't check the gradual option for tempo changes, the tempo envelope defaults to a 'steppy' kind right?
how to move all events and tempo track together?
if tempo us changing during the song
