One of the best things about the Zidoo Z10 Pro player compared to the Zappiti is that you can sort the folder view by the date created instead of just alphabetically. That feature is so useful to me especially if you have hundreds of movies in a directory.

I have the Zidoo Z9X with the latest 6.3 update. I can guarantee you that Dolby Vision BDMV folders work as well as the single layer mp4/mkv Dolby vision files. I had this player for nearly a year and was following the first updates that allows Dolby vision playback. Everything is working smoothly; I can run iso, m2ts, and full BDMV with Dolby vision and lossless audio without issues. However, some BDMV movies have issues getting into the menus and special features, but that’s not really an issue for me since the Zidoo has an option to play the movie directly while skipping the intro/menus. Hopefully the next update will fix that issue. For those of you who are looking for a replacement to the oppo udp-203, look no further, this player can do pretty much everything with the exception of playing discs. This was the best purchase I made for my home theater.
I run a shield/Plex setup and it works perfect for what I need right now. Love seeing that there are other products like theses that give you even more though
Great Review But you mention it feels like it will break at any moment etc Its made of Aircraft Grade Alloy - No plastic components anywhere , Quite Solid Build and no reports of any Models breaking that i have heard off . Can you do a drop test and report back then do a drop test of a Zappiti or the Shaft a ppiti also and share the findings. 😎😎
I wonder why it's so hard to get an all-in-one product... all of these units offer like 85% of what someone would want, but never the whole package. Always good to have more options, but im spoiled having a 203 lol
They both awesome. I have the the Zappiti SE. Love it. Upgrading to the new Neo once they are out. Like you said the Zidoo is nice, but a lil flimsy. I would say a lil cheaper in quality. But it does the job for it's price. Zappiti is just a few notches above it in my opinion. Thanks for sharing.
just bought one, received today going back tomorrow remote control wouldn't function, returned for swap out, uhd just pops, ill reserve my review until i see how responsive the remote is, can you stream Netflix amazon prime , have they fixed the licencing issues yet

@@TechnoDad I'm using BR rips and ISOs, I use the Series X as a Blu-ray player and this is the only way to have Dolby Vision. I didn't mess with the settings, but on the official fóruns there is a topic dedicated to the settings for these series of players, give a look and be sure to download the latest firmware version 👍
I know it takes some leg work to get this setup but have you ever looked into doing a comparison between this or z9x and a Shield or Pi running Kodi-both playing MKV files? The Pi and Shield can be put in audio passthrough and play any audio files as well. I ask because using Plex I ran into issues with 4K on my home network even though it was direct play but works perfectly via KODI
YES, YES, YES, The new Zappiti NEO is better than the Zidoo. I removed my HDD from the Zidoo and plugged it into the Zappiti and wow the PQ is much better than the Zidoo and SQ is on par with it. I even have the silver skins for free. I thought it would come with rack ear but no rack ears. I will be waiting for you full review on you get one in. I've boxed up the Zidoo Z10-Pro and returned it because I was having problems with it. Thanks PM
Cool!! I still gotta get a new Zappiti. Unfortunately for me, the Zappiti mini still isn’t good with WiFi, which is what I need for the master bedroom.
Watching movies via wifi is not a great idea anyway because of the nature of the wifi technology. The reason the Zidoo worked for you in your master BR and the Zappiti do not is because the Zidoo unit has better wifi radio technology in it than the Zappiti unit. You can validate this by comparing the wifi radio stats of each unit that are listed in the hardware specs for each unit. If you have a good wifi access point close to your master bedroom that should help and connect your zappiti mini to the wifi ssid on that AP. I don't know if the zappiti mini support 5GHtz if so put it on that ssid on your AP. Hopefully these will help with your Zappiti mini. Good Luck. PM
One thing Tech Dad didn't really show: Does the Zidoo lump all the movies together or can you select the Source Share and then the movies open in the video Poster wall? I'm still using the Popcorn Hour PCH C-200. I have one in the bedroom also, I picked up for $50 and added an aftermarket power supply I had lying around. They are getting a little long in the tooth! Doesn't do 4K and doesn't load larger ISO files, it'll just sit there with the wheel of wait. You have to usually reboot it to get back to the menu. Oh, also you had to use Yamj to build your poster walls, which was a pain to setup, but once done you just run a batch file from the PC. This sounds like a great product, the PCH does just about everything except the above, when they came out there really wasn't any M2TS in 2010. (I think I got my money's worth!) I am running the Pure Audio Blu-ray music ISOs that stream Auro-3d and Dolby Atmos (Rockin!). I can't wait to get one of these, I put my order in at Amazon, just a few days wait!..
I didn't fully understand your question but I have a zidoo player and what they do is put all the files in one place but you can also click on the individual source folders wether it's a directly attached hard drive or NAS and you will only see the content in that particular folder if required.
hey, just wondered if the device can work offline also? playing all your media with all the amazing features (4K, dolby vision, HDR etc.) using only internal HDD drive for media playback, and not home network ?? also with the meta data, do you have to be permanently connected via wifi / ethernet in order to see all the movie info / nice interface layout ? or is it a one-time setting up thing? After which, you can go offline and still enjoy these features? just wondered, as I prefer not to be reliant on wifi. Bit of a dealbreaker for me getting this. thanks for great review. :)
Hey Channa! I got a Zappiti One 4K HDR recently, love it! But right it got discontinued before I could get another one for the front room. Could I use the movies that I have ripped into MKV files that I have stored on USB 3.0 external hard drives with the Zidoo? I like that UI menu better than the Zappiti.

Also bought a 4k blue ray player as i wanted the best quality possible for my projector. But looking for a alternative to the NVidia shield plex set up. So can this replace Nvidia shield ie i can run my iptv on this etc? As currently i have a Nvidia shield connected to sheild is a 2 tb hard disk which has my tv shows and movies on storage on this device, simply buy a hard disc (not a ssd) pop it in and then start dropping movies on to the device. I presume i access it via a pc like i do with my Nvidia shield. Sorry to ask so many questions just am new to all of this and always want the best. Does playing movies as a iso keep the audio and video quality to max say compared to a downloaded 50 gig 4k rip online say? Any advice would be good
Do you still have this player mate? if so, and if possible. Can you try and get an HDR10+ signal below 50hz? I've tried absolutely eveything with stock and custom EDID's and HDR10+ will not kick in below 60/50hz (both of which judder). It just defaults to regualer HDR. Cheers.
I use the KDLinks a400. Plays just about anything you throw at it. Love it so much that I bought a backup player, which is good because you can’t find them around anymore
Have you noticed any performance drawbacks with the Z10? I was originally considering doing the UHD3000, connecting it to my receiver in my "server room", and serving it to different zones. I am wiring up my house and each zone would require an additional ethernet drop and for their own baluns to server the HDMI connection which adds up to about $200 each zone (x3). After seeing your video, it seems to be more budget friendly just install a Z10 pro in each zone using existing ethernet drops, or heck, even wifi. I'm trying to weigh out the props and cons of each setup. It seems going the baluns route is better if I have more HDMI inputs connected to my receiver and/or if I want to display the exact same content on each screen. However we get the flexibility of displaying different movies in each zone if we get multiple Z10s. Do you have any thoughts on this Techno Dad? Perhaps baluns recommendations. Also, does the device require a hard drive even if I'm serving all movies from a NAS? Thank you.

Can this player read movies in dolby vision, the remuxes in mkv container? What about BDMV directories of movies with dual layer dolby vision like Oppo 203 can read, can this player do that? Lossless audio like TrueHD or DTS HD Master Audio?
I have one issue with this player unless there is a solution? I noticed that there is only 1 HDMI OUT, the problem for me is.....that connection i use for the video signal to my projektor . I could use the optical but that is not a real option since you only get "core"( lossy) audio instead of the master audio signal! Not sure how i'm gonna solve this as i most certainly will not use to HDMI OUT to my receiver and then go to my projektor from there as this most certainly will degrade the video signal!
How does the Zidoo's rendering of 4k content look? I found too many artifacts on the Zappit One Se, I also even though I tried to set it up as passthrough device to my Denon AVR. Curious, have you tried a 4k ISO? on this device?
How good is the Nvidia Shield? I’m interested in movie watching and retro gaming. But how good is it on a scale of 1 to 10? Also, what type NAS did you get?
@@abdelll9737 for playing local files,, the interface on the shield with kodi or plex is hard to beat. Shield also get regular support updates from Nvidia and can run just about any streaming service. Playing 4k uhd blu ray remux's results in excellent sound and picture quality, in my opinion. I use a synology disk station for the NAS. I keep hearing that Zappiti, Zidoo, or Dune are better for playing local content, but I've yet to see a side-side comparison that objectively proves that. With as expensive as these other boxes are, I'd really like to see a shootout against the Shield TV Pro. Maybe I don't know what I'm missing though...
Some of your SMB disk have Unmounted status. What does it mean? I tried to connect to my NAS and all the shared folders are Unmounted and if I click on them, I get UNKNOWN ERROR... Thank you!!
Has anyone tried the Ugoos x4 pro box. It supports all the audio and video formats including AV1 support at less than half the price but without the internal or external hard drive attachment options. Is Ugoos x4 pro a better box than Z9x or Z10pro in terms of picture upscaling and Audio Output? FYI i have recently order a Z9X but i am really confused after seeing so many options available out there.
A few questions: Does the remote work if you are in a different room? I think you made a video on how to rip the movies. But it didn't include the part of hookup up HD. Wondering if you basically power off pc and then hook up the drive and then do all the rips and then unhook the drive? Issue I'm trying to get to is that if you buy a new movie, you'd have to hook up the drive again :-). I'd be so cool if these devices come up with another device that can be hooked up to the player and does the ripping of the movie and stores on the drive so that user doesn't have to manually put the movie on the drive.

Hi, I run a Plex/Shield combo and it does all I want for now and all in the one place. If you are looking for a video idea I am VERY interested in seeing a picture quality comparison between the Shield and the Z10 or it could even a three-way shoot out with a mid-tier Zappiti. I am curious about those devices and would consider purchasing either a Zidoo or a Zappiti for screening movies IF it did a better job than my shield.

how do I go about setting up the z10 pro to use one of my external wd my book hard drives as a source for my media ... the the wd my book drives are connected to my iMac ... and both the iMac and zidoo are on the same network ... can I use samba server to do that? I tried using samba server and it kept asking for a user name and pass word, and when I entered the user name and password for the iMac. it would not accept it ... or am I trying to to do something that is not possible ... and I'll have to buy a separate HD and copy all the files to it and insert it into the zidoo ... help ...
Hi Oliver! Try not entering any information when it asks you for the username and password. Just hit okay if you can. That occurs with my Reavon players when I'm accessing the Zappiti downstairs. I just don't enter any information and then it goes through.

Yes . I have a zidoo z9X and it does read UHD and Blu-ray Iso with full menus. UHD ISO also outputs Dolby Vision. I have tried this with my Godzilla vs Kong 4K Blu-ray rip.

Hi, Ninad! So the Zidoo Z10Pro would need you to have a collection of ripped 4K HDR Atmos movies on a HDD or network drive. I'm not sure how you were using the Firestick 4K in your setup? In theory, the Firestick 4K should work with streamed Atmos content (Netflix, Vudu) when it's plugged directly into the AVR.
How do I get my media files from my computer onto the internal drive? Can I connect my computer to the Zidoo and drag the files over or do I have to remove the internal drive each time and connect it to my computer?

I have zappiti One SE model and I use LAN cable - don`t want wireless because its awful. I wouldn`t change it for any other player. and I don`t want androis OS because is awful too - in any player I`ve tested
Well, for my NAS I use lower speed hard drives (5400rpm) as they are only streaming video or music and holding data. Data transfer is OK with 108 MB/s on 1 GB ethernet. I would think the lower speed will produce less heat, save on spindle wear. These are used for video camera DVRs. I have 5 in a NAS with Raid 5 for 8 years so far with no failures. I use the WD Red Plus, but there are newer models out there. Hope it helps!

@@TechnoDad kodi does all the stuff. Cover art. Layouts. U can change the covers also. Dolby vision. Hdr10. Atmos. Dtsx You just have to learn to name the movies properly for the scrubber to get the correct movie info. Example. The. Running .man . 1989. 1080p . Should like like - the running man.1989.1080p.

Plex on sheild rocks! I do own the Zidoo z9x and H6 ( no longer supported by zidoo). Both are very good but not in the same class as the Sheild.

Zidoo's higher end models like the Z1000 Pro, are pretty great value compared to the new Zappiti offerings which are completely overpriced IMO.
Those new Zappiti players are pretty pricey!

I ave a Z9X, very similar to this model, and very happy with it. Have you tried any DV playback? It's amazing!

I do the same even for shows. I have folders for 1080p, 2160p, Atmos, DTS-X, and 1080p Atmos (inside of Atmos folder)

Have you noticed any performance drawbacks with the Z10? I was originally considering doing the UHD3000, connecting it to my receiver in my "server room", and serving it to different zones. I am wiring up my house and each zone would require an additional ethernet drop and for their own baluns to server the HDMI connection which adds up to about $200 each zone (x3). After seeing your video, it seems to be more budget friendly just install a Z10 pro in each zone using existing ethernet drops, or heck, even wifi. I'm trying to weigh out the props and cons of each setup. It seems going the baluns route is better if I have more HDMI inputs connected to my receiver and/or if I want to display the exact same content on each screen. However we get the flexibility of displaying different movies in each zone if we get multiple Z10s. Do you have any thoughts on this Techno Dad? Perhaps baluns recommendations. Also, does the device require a hard drive even if I'm serving all movies from a NAS? Thank you.

You’ve got a Zidoo as well as a zappiti. Since zappiti is no longer going to be making their mini anymore, do you know if it’s possible to stream movies from the zappiti hard drive to the Zidoo? I’m thinking on getting the Z9X if it is possible
Can this player read movies in dolby vision, the remuxes in mkv container? What about BDMV directories of movies with dual layer dolby vision like Oppo 203 can read, can this player do that? Lossless audio like TrueHD or DTS HD Master Audio?

I noticed that there is only 1 HDMI OUT, the problem for me is.....that connection i use for the video signal to my projektor .
I could use the optical but that is not a real option since you only get "core"( lossy) audio instead of the master audio signal!
Not sure how i'm gonna solve this as i most certainly will not use to HDMI OUT to my receiver and then go to my projektor from there as this most certainly will degrade the video signal!
How does the Zidoo's rendering of 4k content look? I found too many artifacts on the Zappit One Se, I also even though I tried to set it up as passthrough device to my Denon AVR. Curious, have you tried a 4k ISO? on this device?

How good is the Nvidia Shield? I’m interested in movie watching and retro gaming. But how good is it on a scale of 1 to 10? Also, what type NAS did you get?
@@abdelll9737 for playing local files,, the interface on the shield with kodi or plex is hard to beat. Shield also get regular support updates from Nvidia and can run just about any streaming service. Playing 4k uhd blu ray remux's results in excellent sound and picture quality, in my opinion. I use a synology disk station for the NAS. I keep hearing that Zappiti, Zidoo, or Dune are better for playing local content, but I've yet to see a side-side comparison that objectively proves that. With as expensive as these other boxes are, I'd really like to see a shootout against the Shield TV Pro. Maybe I don't know what I'm missing though...

Some of your SMB disk have Unmounted status. What does it mean? I tried to connect to my NAS and all the shared folders are Unmounted and if I click on them, I get UNKNOWN ERROR... Thank you!!
Has anyone tried the Ugoos x4 pro box. It supports all the audio and video formats including AV1 support at less than half the price but without the internal or external hard drive attachment options. Is Ugoos x4 pro a better box than Z9x or Z10pro in terms of picture upscaling and Audio Output?

I think you made a video on how to rip the movies. But it didn't include the part of hookup up HD. Wondering if you basically power off pc and then hook up the drive and then do all the rips and then unhook the drive? Issue I'm trying to get to is that if you buy a new movie, you'd have to hook up the drive again :-). I'd be so cool if these devices come up with another device that can be hooked up to the player and does the ripping of the movie and stores on the drive so that user doesn't have to manually put the movie on the drive.
Hi! What I do when it’s one or two movies is transfer the file via network. It does take some time though, like 20 - 30 mins for a 60 - 70 GB file

Hi, I run a Plex/Shield combo and it does all I want for now and all in the one place. If you are looking for a video idea I am VERY interested in seeing a picture quality comparison between the Shield and the Z10 or it could even a three-way shoot out with a mid-tier Zappiti. I am curious about those devices and would consider purchasing either a Zidoo or a Zappiti for screening movies IF it did a better job than my shield.

They do have a “random” or a “surprise me” function. I’d have to check Zappiti, but I know Zidoo does for sure.

how do I go about setting up the z10 pro to use one of my external wd my book hard drives as a source for my media ... the the wd my book drives are connected to my iMac ... and both the iMac and zidoo are on the same network ... can I use samba server to do that? I tried using samba server and it kept asking for a user name and pass word, and when I entered the user name and password for the iMac. it would not accept it ... or am I trying to to do something that is not possible ... and I'll have to buy a separate HD and copy all the files to it and insert it into the zidoo ... help ...
Hi Oliver! Try not entering any information when it asks you for the username and password. Just hit okay if you can. That occurs with my Reavon players when I'm accessing the Zappiti downstairs. I just don't enter any information and then it goes through.

Yes . I have a zidoo z9X and it does read UHD and Blu-ray Iso with full menus. UHD ISO also outputs Dolby Vision. I have tried this with my Godzilla vs Kong 4K Blu-ray rip.

Hi, Ninad! So the Zidoo Z10Pro would need you to have a collection of ripped 4K HDR Atmos movies on a HDD or network drive. I'm not sure how you were using the Firestick 4K in your setup? In theory, the Firestick 4K should work with streamed Atmos content (Netflix, Vudu) when it's plugged directly into the AVR.
How do u actually rip 4k disks onto this device ?? Do you need a separate 4k burner??

I have zappiti One SE model and I use LAN cable - don`t want wireless because its awful. I wouldn`t change it for any other player. and I don`t want androis OS because is awful too - in any player I`ve tested

was just woundering what type of hard drive your using been wanting to get one for zidoo?
Well, for my NAS I use lower speed hard drives (5400rpm) as they are only streaming video or music and holding data. Data transfer is OK with 108 MB/s on 1 GB ethernet. I would think the lower speed will produce less heat, save on spindle wear. These are used for video camera DVRs. I have 5 in a NAS with Raid 5 for 8 years so far with no failures. I use the WD Red Plus, but there are newer models out there. Hope it helps!
