Several years ago my wife, who is a nurse, came home and told me but she had had an interesting patient that day. The gentleman came in and started talking with her, and the subject of drummers came up. She told him that I played, and he mentioned he was the original drummer for Earth Wind & Fire. They talked for quite a while before she left the room. He was still with the doctor when she left for the day. The following morning there was a note from him on her desk, written to me. The note said "From One Drummer to Another Keep Playing My Man!" He signed it and added the notation "EW&F 1971-2008." That note has been framed and hanging on the wall beside my drum kit since that day.
This song was played at my youngest daughters wedding. After the were pronounced man and wife ,on a September after noon on our farm, in the yard full of sunflowers hay and pumpkins. They danced up the isle to this song. Lol.. Wonderful...love this song!
@@lisahinton9682 10 yrs ago. Sep the 25th. The leaves were just starting to turn in the yard. And we had an old 65 model chevy truck that was yellow for the wedding pics. Of course when you have a wedding on a farm there is always old barns hay etc...to make every thing look great. All of my children grew up listening to my old school music. So all the music played that day was old school. My oldest daughter is 38. My youngest daughter is 31. In between those two are 4 more. My oldest son is a Beatle fan...My middle son is a 50s early 60s music fan. All six of them are musical they play guitars, saxophone, trumpet, flute, trombone, oboe, and piano. Now I have 4 grandaughters who play instruments and two of them love old music. ✌✌✌
by the way we are great grand parents and BRUCE LEROY was the limit, it just dont get no better than that!!!! I am ready for the "Jamel AKA Jamal" Show!!! LOLOLOL
Earth Wind and Fire was OnPoint that horn section is deadly. We thought we were all that ...dancing back in the day... and then I saw a video of my older siblings in a jitterbug contest ...oh my Lawd!
I'm in charge of the music at my son's high school wrestling tournaments and this song gets everyone off if their seats and dancing, moving and grooving to the music. This song just makes you smile and feel good!
Love your Soul Train Saturdays. My grandkids ROFL when they see the way Grandpa and I dressed in pictures from back in the day. They'd die laughing if they saw us dance!
Fans were actually a high-fashion accessory in 1977 and 1978. In Sylvester's 1978 video for "You Make Me Feel," he waves a fan around like those women here were.
Clare Whittington And we’re not admitting to half the wild stuff we did, amiright? 😜 But we didn’t do no harm, we were just having a lot more fun! 💃🏻💃🏼💃🏽💃🏾💃🏿
THAT WAS SO FUN! I was supposed to see Earth Wind and Fire in Phoenix in May. It was postponed until November. I sure hope the concert happens. I've seen them one other time...and I'm tellin' you...so much dancing! Can't sit still. They are amazing to see live.
Back in the 1970's in the north west of England, there was a huge movement amongst teenagers who discovered early american soul music. It was called northern soul, and probably the most famous venue where it was played was Wigan Casino (which was a disco, not a gambling den!) Check out the song Mercy by Duffy, which shows you the kind of vibe they had dancing.
Keep the FAITH! Love me some Northern Soul and the whole scene that still exists! Went to an event in Cornwall last year, could not have had a better time.
I went to a Uriah Heep concert in fall of 1973 in Des Moines, and Earth, Wind And Fire were the opening act. I think it was before this song came out, I don't think they had any hits yet, but they were great in concert. Was very happy to see them.
Hey Jamal Thanks for bringing us another Soul Train Saturday it got my day off to an AWESOME start! P.S try to find the Soul Train Line with Don Cornelius in it you'll be AMAZED to see him dancing! I think it's the only time we see him coming down the line! Great job keep them coming Jamal, Thanks for creating these AWESOME video reactions! Stay safe and hang in there! 🕺🎶🎶🎶🎶 Let's also keep Shoulder Dancing!!
Who doesnt remember this song! Im telling ya everybody jumping up, moving everything that moved(back then haha) & just loving to be alive. EWF 4 ever!! Thanks Jamel & BIG BIG SMILES to you!
Shout out and RIP to Allee Willis, who wrote this song. She passed 12/24/2019. She has been featured on a lot of episodes of "The Top Ten Revealed" on AXS TV.
I loved watching soul train back then! And solid gold, and any show that had a dance line or competition! I was too young to do anything but watch those shows but what I could do when I was a kid was listen to these songs at the roller rink and skate for hours!!! Thanks for waking me up this fine Saturday and getting me on my feet even if I’m too old to get my skate on!
My friend, I follow you down this rabbit hole cause it's you, because it's you! Because you represent, not just your musical upbringing but all of us. You show love to all of this thing called music. Jamel keep doing what you do. It's beautiful and we all need this now. Thank you, I love you man.
Brother Bruce Lee ROY! 😂 Folgers in our cups! My God Jamel! How you put the biggest grin on my face the entire time- thank you! ❤️✌️. Oh! “Happy Anniversary baby, got you on my miiiind.” It’s a song, huge one.. yeah, you might wanna check it out- 🤷🏼♀️😉. Sincerely Happy Anniversary to you and lovely Mrs. Jamel! ❤️❤️✌️
I noticed that, too! Very unusual to see that he can kick it! But I appreciate that he takes care to save his best moves to share with his beautiful wife, not us!
It is wonderful to reminisce about my 70s childhood. Watching this now, I can't decide which I enjoy more, the dancing or the fashion/hairstyles. I guess I will go for the whole package. Thanks, Jamel.
Happy Anniversary, Mr. and Mrs. Jamel! You bring US so much JOY, PEACE, and HAPPINESS!!! I pray you have many years of happiness! Much love! Peace out!
I remember Soul Train growing up and Don Cornelius would come on with his DJ voice saying "we got a lot of super bad groups tonight." Dude had a voice.
I like the fact the each set of dancers seem to do their own thing. Put their own spin on it, as it were. I grew up in NYC in the 1960s and 70s, and we had 3-4 channels. I used to watch Soul Train as a kid, simply because it was the best thing I could find during that Saturday morning slot.
Thank you! Please keep doing this as long as you can! I do have lots of old injuries from my youth and my doc told me to exercise but it hurts, dammit! But this morning listening to this and watching the Soul Train line got me on my feet for the first time in a long while! I couldn’t do much actual dancing, but I don’t care cos ain’t nobody watching me!
