In uk the police do nor scare birds, its the job of airfield operations. Engines take quite a few bird strikes, they dont always damage the engine. In the event of a fire the pilot can isolate the whole engine, that is hydraulics, electrics, fuel and air. He will also have the option of fire extinguishers
you were extremely lucky to survive this landing, ..all it takes is 1 stray pigeon hitting the turbine jet engine, and rupturing the main fuel tank, and you're all toast!! Phew!! .. thankgod you all got out alive!!!!!
i still submit you were lucky to get out of this landing alive, what if the landing gear malfunctioned, and you had to make a crash landing, resulting in the aircraft bursting into flames on impact!! . . i am glad you lived to fight another day.
Mate you have no idea!! Easyjet wheels are changed roughly every six months and brake units about 1 year. I highly doubt concorde were changed every 4 landings. When they go bald you change them simple as that!
why do u think theres not much accident caused on aircraft by the birds? The airport police's job to scare off the birds ant the engines are made to keep the engines from exploading all over the place.
are you the negative guy? the planes dont have problems like xbox 360. every 4 flights the planes gets checked. About 60 million aircrafts take off in USA every year how many of them has problems? U hear about plane crashes alot in contries like Iraq and midle eastern airlines, the engineers are not trained as good. Big airline companies such as north West, Airfrance and other, they have very good pilots and engineers.
u know that the airport police's job is to scare away the birds with ultra sound, flair gun and car horns. just because the pigeon gets in the engine, it maight damage the plane but pegeon is not big enuf to cause enuf damage to set the engine on fire. even when engine catches in flame, it woudlnt reach the fuel, plane isnt made like that, specialy commercial aircraft uses something feed fuel (i cant remember the exact name) its not that easy to blew up a plane. try again

Simon lowe even made a video on a bird strick of a thomson 757-200 during takeoff in manchester. 10 minutes later it landed safely.
another good landing vid!
That flight attendant has a proper' west country accent, haha. Fab vid.
the technitians may check round for major problems but they change tires every 4 flights(well concorde it was anyway)thats when they check all over.
2 days in airtraffic controll, 1 day in AIRPORT POLICE and 1 day in Airport fire station. Glasgow Airport.
