Love the lessons Uncle Ben! Does your Patreon have Guitar Pro formatted tabs? The ability to loop and use things like the speed trainer in Guitar Pro are THE BEST.
Hi Ben, I have been a fan for years and really appreciate your skill, humor, passion for teaching and almost every video you produce has at least one gem for us guitarists to put in our toolkit. However, I have recently unsubscribed and hope that 2024 can bring a minor pivot in the dialogue with some constructive feedback. I am a dad, not a stepdad, but I know many that are awesome. The recurring shade directed at stepdads in the content has just grown tired for me and does not age well with repeated viewing. I do wish you and all the guitar students an awesome new year and will check back later in 2024. Cheers. Craig
I wish I lived by you, I'd be totally dedicated to having u being my guitar instructor...probably every 2 weeks because it would take that long to learn such difficult techniques. I'd easily pay 100$ a lesson! Thank u for what u do!
Uncle, it's just insane how amazing musician, teacher and human being you are. I wish you and all your loved ones excelend New Year, and - at the same time - I wish all of us - mere nephews - content from you that is at least as good as this in passing year! All the best!
Watching this again I had forgotten about all of the plugs for your patreon page. I'm so glad I'm not missing out on all of those bonuses. Best $1 a month I spend!
Dear uncle Ben Thank 0:37 you for all you do putting together thesed very well put together videos teaching many whom want to be better players ir just enjoy watching your videos theyre so much needed to keep our kids focused and off the streets teaching something they can use to stimulate there minds and I too enjoy .Thanks 🙏🏼 for all your efforts ❤
I've been playing for a long time but only this year did I finally decide to lock down my alternate picking. And I have your exercises to thank for giving me great etudes to work through. Thanks!
Yay! Excited to see more creative usage. I find I struggle with implementing fancy Uncle Ben techniques into actual music, so I look forward to these vids. Moo
I remember reading and studying a while back that Robert Johnson's first attempt was via some nearby fencing wire nailed (literally) to his exterior wallboards on an old cottage somewhere in the field someplace...I believe it 100% too of course.
Great stuff Uncle Ben and keep up the step-dad shtick ! This is my favorite guitar instruction channel, Tom Hess is next, but i luv your vibe and humor...
listen young fella , i am a dad and a step dad . i play the speed of ry cooder . the shredding is like ear ache . i am 56 and like what i like . i was there in the 60s just about. get a burt wheedon book and slow down . i have only got one of the kids talking to me now , but at least i get time to boil an egg . good luck
Awesome!!! Thanks uncle Ben, that’s me pretty much set with practice exercises and I’ll be getting those midi tracks too. One small request for a lesson, could you revisit muting unwanted string noise and resonance when playing with high gain and active pick-ups 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks Uncle Benny Bob.. Happy New Year to you and yours. Keep healthy and safe. Your ability to keep it fun and at the same time challenging and sounding epic; is always needed and greatly appreciated.
I was going to say you should have also mentioned "MASTER 2 Note per String Picking with THIS Workout", but then I realized that video came out last year. It's still really cool. I use this a lot!
i only know two scales and never learned anything more advanced than some alternate picking exercises on them. will see how far i get through this, thank you.
Well Ben, I am a stepdad so no matter what I play….Anyways I ain’t mastered sweep pickin or a couple of other things you discuss in this video but I do do (snicker) some bluegrass flat pickin. It don’t sound great on my Jackson with the distortion turned up though. Thanks for the solid tips!👍
Speaking in the string skipping section about muting the B, as I've practiced and recorded myself the last year or so, I've realized that muting is just as important as the note you hit.
Muting is SO important the higher gain you play the more string noise will destroy the sound. It also hides your mistakes, that's NOT a good thing, you want to hear them so you can correct t them :)
My main issue is there's too much material all over the Internet and even on this channel, and most of them are actually super legit. This causes some sort of analysis paralysis to me 😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨, I don't know which exercises to pick, when to switch etc. When I was a teen, when we were talking about the Shred, everyone would point to Rock Discipline by JP and Speed Mechanics for Lead guitar book. Even though they were not ideal, at least they were organized and offering some sort of progression, making it easier to stick to. I don't know how to do it with videos scattered all over youtube, and patreon. Any help (or even better, a video) on this would be very helpful!!
This video is a good start for a little of everything! Don’t spend more than 5 minutes on each, and don’t forget to spend the majority of your time PLAYING SONGS! That’s what most players neglect!
Yeah I hear you, the thing needs a structure, but more than likely because there are so many variations is because it's opened a door to set a few of your own now too maybe....don't be shy!!!!
Hi Ben! if you read this comment I have a question about that Jackson American Virtuoso, is it worth the money?? Because I want to buy a Super Strat, and I have in mind too the Fender AM ultra luxe Floyd that is a bit more expensive but it has stainless steel frets and an original Floyd. What are your thoughts on those two guitars? Thx man and happy new year from Spain
Well, both are great choices!!! I LOOOOVE this Virtuoso… I like it even more than my Soloist! I got a Fender American Ultra Strat this year, and I also adore it.
Gosh, uncle Ben, I'm a little unclear about where to find all the tabs and backing tracks for these lessons!😂 Just kidding, I subscribed long ago and have been a happy camper ever since. Thanks for all the great content!
If I got to be honest, I’m really nervous about diving into these exercises because all of my picking techniques are atrocious especially sweeping and alternate picking. I can’t really play fast. I hope this year I can make some progress.
I play the snot outta all my guitars, so I’m not super picky about keeping them mint. But both the Jackson’s have sturdy gloss finishes, so they’re good!
"Playin' like a Step Dad???"...Bwhahahaha...I spit out my coffee laughing..... Reminds me of "Beat him like a red headed step child!!"...OR..."Beat him like a rented mule!"...Lol..Hahaha...Hilarious!!...thumbs Up, Subscribed.

i only know two scales and never learned anything more advanced than some alternate picking exercises on them. will see how far i get through this, thank you.

I've been working on 4 out of 7

Do you have a list of "must learn" songs to level up playing
I loooooove this idea! How about I do this in a video soon?
@@BenEller sounds great uncle Ben, thanks 🙏 🤘😎🤘
Thank you for singlehandedly teaching me bark at the moon from start to finish.
The color of that Jackson is gorgeous.

Hi Ben! if you read this comment I have a question about that Jackson American Virtuoso, is it worth the money?? I was wondering if you have download tracks on your Patrion ?😀
For those not in the know, a ying yang milkshake is milk and orange juice shaken not stirred... Best enjoyed warm, poured over black jelly beans.
Gosh, uncle Ben, I'm a little unclear about where to find all the tabs and backing tracks for these lessons!😂 Just kidding, I subscribed long ago and have been a happy camper ever since. Thanks for all the great content!
Hahaha I should really remember to mention that Patreon page sometime!!! Cheers, man, thanks for being a part of it!!!
My inspiration be flowing. . .I will be the next Ying Yang! (Milkshake) Thanx Unc!
If I got to be honest, I’m really nervous about diving into these exercises because all of my picking techniques are atrocious especially sweeping and alternate picking. I can’t really play fast. I hope this year I can make some progress.
Speed is a product of control! Worry about building control first and the speed will come naturally.
Are there downloadable tabs and backing tracks? Say, on Patreon, or something?
Did I forget to mention that?!
I wonder if I can find practice tracks on your patreon page 🤔
Yo How do you protect your Jacksons finish from pick or finger nail scratches? or you don't care about the finish?
I play the snot outta all my guitars, so I’m not super picky about keeping them mint. But both the Jackson’s have sturdy gloss finishes, so they’re good!
When Uncle Ben videos, Nephew Noob watches 😎
Would love to see some lesson collaborations with some famous guitar players. I think you can make that hapen.
Man, you need to move to Central Texas and train me to be a Shredi Knight. I will even let ya call me Padawan in public 😃
Uncle Ben, your riffs are awesome and your rice isn't bad either.😂😂😂
Hey, I was wondering if you have a Patreon page?😄
These are great lessons mate. Thanks for sharing! 🤘
Glad you like them!
Ok, but does your Patreon content include teaching the Pentecostal scale?
AND the Major GinAndTonic Scale! In all 4 keys!
@@BenEller 🤣😂
I’d love to improve my shred skills, I’ll be 60 in 3wks( been playing for 46yrs) But this last year It’s getting harder improve .Any suggest?
I will have to perform these brilliant techniques in stepdad speed 😂😂

I have a cool stepdad so this doesn't apply to me. hehe.
Fair enough! Hahaha
You're not my real dad! I'll play like I want!! 😊
But Uncle Ben. What do the stepdads do about not playing like stepdads? Ive confused myself now. Lmfao. Great vid non the less.
I remember when all he did was rice
Shredi Knight?! LOL
You are almost my favourite yaptube comedian this year....bummer!
