    And in Legends the Rebels were even more organized and had a larger fleet. Mostly repurposed and modified Clone Wars tech. Rebel One, the modified Providence-class Carrier. The Lucrehulk (which they foolishly threw away at the Death Star.) And I'm positive they had claimed an old Venator or two.

      I’m very sorry to rain on your parade, but the a-wing was kinda the straw that broke the camels back, I guess you could say. Admiral Ackbar said “concentrate all fire on that super star destroyer” meaning it took quite a beating, and we can see one of its engines was shot. And not only that, the Death Star was big and the gravity pulled the ssd towards it.

      The Galactic Civil War has been won and the first thing to do is a military disarmament? Now that’s just terrible decision, there’s still a lot of Star Destroyers out there, the galaxy has not even been fully converted to the New Republic, that’s just terrible planning on Mon Mothma’s part and terrible writing on Disney’s.

    • @daniels7907
      @daniels7907 6 лет назад +24

      Especially since the New Republic was not doing anything to enforce the Galactic Concordance. They were *trusting* that the First Order would not violate treaty terms and build new capital ships. You can see why this background did not make it into the movies and you have to read books to learn about it. Kathleen Kennedy would have vetoed a female leader being so flagrantly stupid in the movies.

    • @Burning-Twilight
      @Burning-Twilight 6 лет назад +18

      You would think Mon Mothma would have remembered how a similar situation happened with the Clone Wars. The Separatist had a massive army of battle droids built in secret the Republic at best had the Jedi who were reluctant to even become involved in the conflict at all, and security forces. Without the clone army they would have lost the war in less than a month.

    • @robertagu5533
      @robertagu5533 6 лет назад +11

      Yeah which is why that was retarded.. for such a huge galaxy i can understand a reduction when peace finally came. But TOTAL disarmament was supremely stupid. Id not reduced it anymore then half of what it was at Jakku when they drove the last nail in the Empires coffin. Since when the fleet spread out after that across the galaxy it'd probably even out. Then have those not in such forces moth balled or inactive in reserve forces incase ever needed again. So say at the end of Last Jedi or when Death Star 3.0 wiped out the new government.. bring it all back from contingency plans for just such a thing. So at the end Leias forces jist had to hold out till massive reinforcements showed up from everywhere to either wipe the 1st Order off the galactic map or present them with such odds even WITH Snoakes uber dreadnaught they didnt stand a chance, knew it and had the choice of either fighting to the death or surrender.. figure top ranked government officials that also had extensive general experience and spent most the rebellion having to make such plans would do this here too

      I don't think there's ever been a confirmed count for the Alliance fleet in canon. I think I read somewhere that the force at Endor in canon wasn't everything the Alliance had it was just a number of cells including the three largest cells and the forces directly controlled by Alliance high command I'm not sure where I read that though.
      According to Wookieepedia Mon Monthma actually wasn't at Endor in canon. She took her ship from Sullust to safety so she could attempt to rally the Alliance's remaining forces if Ackbar's fleet failed.

      The thing is that only a handfull of planets had shipyards capable of building capitol ships, and in Aftermath books it was stated that construction of those new ships began after New Republic was founded and even then it took some time to persuede idiotic Mon Mothma to build them.
      The thing is that New Republic cannot be established with less then 20 capitol ships. At first, damage. Most of the ships would have been damaged in the battle of Endor and it would take time to repair them. Same goes for any fight. If a ship gets damaged, it will take a few months to repair them. You simply cannot destroy 15k ISDs in one year.

      Remember that the Empire nationalized capital ship construction because they didn't want individual planets to be able to build such ships for use against the Empire. The big shipyards like KDY were under very tight Imperial control, and frankly had a financial interest in supporting the big-spending Empire over a New Republic that wanted a smaller, demilitarized government. We only see the New Republic fleet for a second onscreen, but it appears to consist mainly of Mon Calamari ships. Amazing that a single supplier, who had been under occupation for years, could build a fleet of large capital ships so quickly once the Empire was in disarray.

    Actually I've been discussing the fleet sizes between the Rebels and Imperials with a few guys. Based on major operations and smaller encounters, we estimated that, based on the more solid canon numbers of 25,000, that the Rebels had a fleet roughly a quarter of that in size.
    This would also be noted in the original Return of the Jedi script, which stated the gathered Rebel Fleet went on beyond sight left and right of its center.
    While, of course, not all of these combat ships, the Empire made a big deal about the Rebels' fleet. Our best guess is that what the Fleet lacked in power and numbers, being only capable of Attack and Fade techniques, we believe this translated into a Fleet in Being status.
    And small forces of less than a hundredth the size of the Empire, would not get such a big status.
    There was also indication the entire Rebel Fleet hadn't assembled for the Battle of Endor. Estimates are still mixed, but what made us consider this, was the possibility that the Rebels may have had more Petra-class Frigates in their fleet coupled with other ships that they could pick up here and there. Add in the Quasar Fire-class Light Carrier, it is likely the entire Rebel Fleet was just the Main Fleet and that smaller cells operated their own ships.
    Losses mounting, you could say that the Battle of Hoth was one of a serious of disastrous battles and eventually, the Rebel Fleet gathered and made a bold move. Many veteran ships and crews would have been lost by this time.

    3:42 the Mon Cala escaped with 12 cruisers. Escaped, as in flew away from their planet, and obviously their own shipyards.
    4:08 'several cruisers were lost' in Vadars ambush
    4:10 'by the battle of Endor', which meant Scarif had already happened, -1 cruiser lost in that battle.
    4:37 the fleet had between 12 and 'over two dozen' MC's. Yet they started with 12 cruisers, lost 'some' in the ambush and one at Scarif. They had two death starred at Endor, and probably lost at least one more to laser fire. Their home planet, and their yards, were under Imperial control.
    So *where* were the rebels getting these extra cruisers from? You cant just knock up a cruiser in a factory like you can a fighter, you would need shipyards. Surely the Imperials could easily detect if the Rebels were knocking up a shipyard?

Of course it didn't work out that way, but it was supposed to be a trap which is why the empire had such few ships in orbit. Hammer and anvil, death star and super star destroyer.

    1:09 ok, even for stormtroopers, that’s bad, and how do those blasters have that much recoil? I know it’s a cartoon, I shouldn’t expect continuity, but looking at it realistically it takes way less energy to fire plasma then a bullet, should the recoil should be pretty negligible, same with if the blasters shot laser beams.

    • @daniels7907
      @daniels7907 5 лет назад

      Blasters shoot plasma. That's why you get a bolt instead of a beam, and also why there is recoil and the target generally explodes messily rather than having a neat hole burned through it.

    • @uni4rm
      @uni4rm 6 лет назад

      Which is why the idea of a tiny rebel fleet is stupid. The Empire didn't use them, so that's literally thousands upon thousands of derelict ships floating in space ripe for the pickings for rebel forces. And thats even accounting for pirates and independent groups gobbling them up.

    • @George-Hawthorne
      @George-Hawthorne 6 лет назад +1

      Actually, it is relatively tiny in comparison to other factions. See finding ships is easy, it's finding the proper people to crew them that's the killer. Though I always wondered why the rebels never snatched up any derelict Venators. I did a little research and this is the Rebel fleet composition at it's minimal.
      413 Warships
      585 Transports
      108 Starships
      2,328 Starfighters
      These figures don't include the following rebel ships,
      Bulwark Mark III-class Battlecruisers,
      Dauntless class Heavy Cruisers,
      Liberator-class Cruisers,
      CC-9600 Heavy Frigates,

    A galaxy is a big assed place and makes finding a glass needle on the sea floor (...in one of the oceans somewhere...) look like child's play. So what McGuffin did they use to keep track off all these ships? It had to be a droid net that would easily out mass entire Imperial fleet and have FTL communications. Now they do have Holocom which is FTL, so that only leaves the detection method being used... Anything in canon?

    • @solarsailor1534
      @solarsailor1534 6 лет назад +1

      Precisely because space is so big is why the rebels survived so long against the Empire. That's why the Emperor set the trap at Endor, so the rebel fleet could be gathered all in one spot. Otherwise the Empire had no chance of really ever finding them all.

    • @solanumtinkr8280
      @solanumtinkr8280 6 лет назад

      The only way would have been to track where they got thier supplies from, as they did not set up independent production.

    • @uni4rm
      @uni4rm 6 лет назад

      25000 was an estimate done by a fan group. Maybe it made it into canon awhile back, but it was originally fanon, so the justification of the number being correct in the first place is suspect.

    • @dindjarin2083
      @dindjarin2083 6 лет назад

      Even if the Imperial fleet had 25,000 Ships (if it is canon or fanon) the Rebel Alliance has very good Fleet Commanders, like Admiral Raddus, and Gial Ackbar, which were discipline and very smart tactians. And the Rebels seem to have the better ships, and high quality ships to match up with the Empire's fleet. They had like dozens of Modified Ships, like (CR-90 and 70 Corvettes, which serves as a escort or fast role. And the nebulon B's which serves as Escorts too, and Mon calamari cruiser, serving either as BattleShips, Carriers, or Command Ships. like the Home One and the Profundity, all though they serve different Roles, they sure were more advance, like their advanced Targetting system, Shielding, and especially their Model or Bridge design, hiding their shield generators and bridges from being exposed more.) Besides with the High Quality and superiority the Rebels certainly won the battle of Endor and Jakku. These Rebels certainly know what the ISD's plans were, as explained in Star Wars Rebels, when Semo had plans for the Empire and latterly shared to the Spectres, making the Rebel alliance get these ships for fleets and soon modifying them.

    Pretty big retcon, but whatever. A little confused on how they could just magically suddenly be able to construct ships to replace losses, though. That's pretty vague. In old canon, Mon Calamari homeworld built their ships as luxury cruise liners, and when they turned openly rebellion, they repurposed them as warships, and kept a sizeable fleet at home to defend the shipyards. This does a far better job at explaining the expansion of the fleet after the Empire collapsed, as they could release more ships out into fleet actions from defense, and how the rebels would have been able to maintain them at all. A dozen cruisers playing hide and seek for even a few months against the Empire would be ragged hulks.

The U.S. Navy in world war II had more ships at its disposal just to conquer the Pacific. Not counting the Atlantic, Disney numbers and cannon is crap.

    Your number of the Rebel capital ship fleets is quite wrong. There are at least 40 MC80s under Admiral Ackbar's command before the death of the Emperor. And at least 15 of them have partaken in the battle of Endor. And there are also similar amounts of MC75s in the Canon, or all sorts of other capital ships in the Legends.

    The Star War Rebel fleet makes no sense at all how insignificant they are. Star Wars is a full blow fantasy which when you really think about it would have meant the Empire would have one every time. Too bad would have rather have seen a rebuilt republic fighting the First Order (Nazi) and see some real to goodness logical reality of this universe. Oh well, its become even lamer, let's see how far the toilet Disney take it. I had such great hopes for the franchise.
