Have you tried Gris Charnel and what are your experiences with it? And have you been in a situation when you bought a certain fragrance because of the hype just to be disappointed?

French speaker here (man). Gris Charnel would be translated more by "Grey Sensual" than "Carnal Grey".
And i think its name is its best definition. Grey, foggy as you say, mysterious, but sensual. Not sexy at all, i second you !
Fresh ? there's some freshness, but not a freshie. I also agree.
Clean ? yes definetly to me. There is something clean and soapy about it. Maybe that's what you call cozy.
The comparison to Phylosikos is relevant to me. They may not be brother and sister, but some distant cousins sharing that very unique fig note giving them a familiarity but going in two distinctive directions. Then i agree, Phylosikos takes it more to the green side when GC takes it to a more creamy side.
I think its uniqueness is also the reason why so many people are seeing different things in it. We just don't have any commonly shared reference point and that explains why it tells different things to different persons. If that makes any sense :)
About the opening, i have been surprised the first time i'm sharing your experience, i guess this is the cardamom note. But i'm now used to it and it's absolutely not harsh to me.
Performances, i completely agree. Yet, i need more testing with it in different type of contexts. I would also add that this is very versatile to me, you good to go during spring fall and winter, both day and night. Not summer. Let's leave the summer for Phylosikos :)
The only point i strongly disagree with you is that i think it's an excellent introduction to Niche type of fragrances, why ? Because of its uniqueness, versatility, but with still a bit of mass appeal. Not to mention the price point that is very fair to me considering the industry standards.
Great review, i really enjoyed how you described it. I subscribe :)

Your reviews are so thorough! I only found your channel a week ago but now you’re the first one I go to when looking for reviews! You answer every question I could have about the fragrance. So helpful! Thanks for helping me decide this will not be one for me to spend my money on.

Thanks! I'm glad the review was helpful and informative. Gris Charnel is truly unique and beautiful, but it takes time to get on board with it. Welcome to our fragrance family and I hope you'll enjoy the weekend! 🥰🥰

I fell in love with this fragrance after the first 2 wears. It is very unique and will be my rainy day scent, it gives a cozy vibe for me 🩶 I pair it with Bath and Body Works Brown Sugar & Fig.

Hi,Miri! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one! I have got quite similar first impression - wearing it today for the first time , in perfect rainy foggy spring day, but i can't say I'm in love from the first sniff. Similar combination of notes aka Cardamom-Iris-Vetiver I found in Givenchy Gentleman EDT Intense (that i gift to my husband for Christmas) - and unfortunately I don't feel comfortable smelling it around. Can't wait when my husband will finish the bottle )) haha... my mistake that I bought both perfumes blindly.
Of course, I'll give it more chance and wear few more times before I'll decide if it's staying in my closet. But regarding your comparison to Chai Latte I would suggest you to get a sniff of Bvlgari Le Gemme Calaluna - that is soooo damn perfect Feminine (!!!) Chai Latte smell. I own Calaluna and it's a win for me over Gris Charnel 100%!

Thank you so much for your recommendation. I haven't had the chance to try it out, but I'll put Bvlgari Le Gemme Calaluna on my wishlist. 🥰

This was a fascinating review, given that i have a decant I've tried only once... perhaps akin to your first experience. I'll need to try it on a second time to be sure. 😄

I've realized that when revisiting fragrances, mostly I get different experiences compared to my impression when I first tried them out. Thank you for your support! ❤

We literally have the exact same experience with this perfume! I was underwhelmed when i first bought this perfume cause i find the spice way too manly, almost reminds of la nuit dlhomme. But this grew on me cause I get so much people asking what I’m wearing, and for some reason different people pickup on different notes more. Some would tell me i smell like coconuts, some would say i smell woody, even though all i could smell is spice.
And this perfume may not be the most projecting, but I think the story of the perfume makes it appropriate, and the longevity of this perfume makes up for it. I wore this and the scent got on my coat, when i pickup my coat 2 days after I thought I was wearing The Matcha by le labo.

Yes, it's so unique and with so many nuances so it's hard to describe it in all its complexity. I'm so happy you're enjoying Gris Charnel and others around you are complimenting you on the fragrance. Thank you for your comment and for sharing your experience. 🥰🌸💮

@@Miri-s appreciate you for this review, i feel like our nose vibe. Could you maybe in the future try out gabrielle essence? I know you liked Mademoiselle and I’m wondering if it would be the same with Gabrielle Essence. I’ve been debating which one to get, cause there’s so much dupes for Mademoiselle and I don’t want to be reminded of someone else either because of its success.

@@xyrildeleon_ I'll add that perfume to my list to review. There are just so many perfumes to go through especially since I have a full-time job so I can't direct my complete focus on YT, but I will make that video in the months to come. ❤❤
