this person, Tetsuya Mizuguchi, really took the concept of the Tetris Effect, which is an actual thing that refers to seeing imagery of any task you hyper-focus on for extended periods of time btw, and said "what if I made it the most emotional, moving, ethereal experience anyone can ever feel?"
He quite literally took this phenomenon, which causes anxiety in those that experience it a lot of the time, and rewrote it from the ground up. Changed lives and gave people something to relax with all off what I assume was a single idea. The power of artistic vision, ladies n' gents.

And yeah I play a LOT of chess and sometimes when I’m sleeping I can’t stop seeing tactics in my head and it gets distressing. It’s like my brain can’t turn off and keeps analyzing these positions. I can’t stop it so it gets exhausting. Hopefully my new Tetris obsession won’t be so bad.

Definitely, I saw this trailer in the E3 live transmission and was absolutely amazed by it - by the 2018 E3 overall because such great titles and surprises were announced, but still this one really stood out. It is the most beautiful game trailer (and accompaining song) I have ever seen, and I come here often to see and listen to it 👌

Even more so when you see this part in the Japanese trailer. Oddly enough, the narrator actually says the name of the phenomenon/title when the logo comes up. Not sure why that’s left there but it certainly left me with some chills.

It's a song made for the game so we'll have it when the full game comes out, I think
I love how they are promoting this game. Instead of focusing on features or pandering to the competitive crowd, they are 100% focused on celebrating the past great games but also trying to look forward, breaking down what makes the game actually great.
To be honest there are already enough competitive Tetris game out there (Grandmaster and Tetris NES are still played competitively)
Now the whole thing to do is to "reinvent Tetris" or else the serie could get stale ("why should I rebuy the same old Tetris when I can pull out a Gameboy to play it like in '89?")

Its simple basic and mostly important it has beautiful music.
Because Tetris is simple yet abstract, especially Tetris effect, so the trailer is simple yet abstract. And combined with the beautiful effects (haha) and music, it makes a great trailer.
They probably put more budget into marketing rather than game production.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Tetris. The challenge is extremely visible, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics, most of the techniques will go over a typical player's head. There's also T Block's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from The Tetris Effect, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these techniques, to realise that they're not just hard to execute- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Tetris truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the importance in Tetris' existential praise line "Back-to-Back Tetris!", which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as The Tetris Company's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂
And yes, by the way, i DO have a T Block tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎

I mainly play games on PC, but when I saw this trailer I was entranced, I needed the game. I really wanted a PC port to be made.
Couple weeks ago I realised it actually exists now, nearly 4 years after seeing this announced, now having played it and I'm still in absolute awe at how tetris can make me feel like this.
And it's the Connected version which also allows you to verse others
i play it on pc with a wiimote, dont judge before you try it, that d-pad is sentational, dont even try to play with an xbox controller

The reasons to dislike this is if it doesn't have any worthwhile content. Yeah, it's super pretty but right now, Puyo Puyo Tetris is the current king. It's been out for a while, it's cheap (on Steam, anyway), it's multiplatform.
Can't wait for the PC version.
