  • Dr. Svoboda often gets asked questions from westerners about traveling to India. In this episode he offers some tips on why one should decide to go and how to adjust once you are there.
Dr. Robert Svoboda is the first Westerner ever to graduate from a college of Ayurveda and be licensed to practice Ayurveda in India. During and after his formal Ayurvedic training he was tutored in Ayurveda, Yoga, Jyotish, Tantra and other forms of classical Indian lore by his mentor, the Aghori Vimalananda. He is the author of over a dozen books and has served as Adjunct Faculty at the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, NM, and at Bastyr University in Kenmore, WA.

India is a choas and so is nature itself.... There's beauty in choas. One will never love India at first sight, but if you will look carefully without being too much judgemental, I am sure you will fall in love with India and that's a promise.

India is too complex for the west to understand ...your whole perception of tourism will change because it is not your typical tourism destination ...one lifetime is not enough to truly explore it to the fullest...so pick your reasons

    • @TrainTransportShortsOfficial
      @TrainTransportShortsOfficial 7 лет назад +1

Sandeep Shetty it’s not complex it’s simple but it’s too Simple that there isn’t even sanitised water or basic road rules so of course it’s a shock and first time I went there I got very sick this isn’t an excuse this really happens bc western people r used to chlorinated sterile water in India the hygiene is less so people get sick

Rose Momlife m sorry to say , u don't even have the basic knowledge about India..I have travelled to Europe n etc etc..I had to purchase water...it goes wid India as well.. n yes it is a developing nation.. morover one life is not complete to know India completely...westerners r used to many things which we r not..d basic thing is here the weather changes frequently n v do not stay in closed rooms like westerners, so things differ n u fall sick..v r not used to u as well! Get some peace

Rose Momlife Get a life. Going around commenting on every comment posted here. Complexity has to do with the cultural and spiritual background. People don't go to India for the roads and water. If that were the case, stay in Australia or wherever you are from. Use your brain.

There are no rules really when it comes to travelling to India, imho. The first time I was there I travelled around quite a bit, ate with my hands, took homemade food in remote villages etc. and didn't really get sick (with the exception of a cold and only a brief episode of milder digestion issue). The second time I was in India I didn't travel at all, but stayed only in an ashram, a very well maintained one, and got an intestinal infection the second week and couldn't really get rid of the symptoms for seven months (so finally needed to go back to Europe due to not being able to heal properly in India).

it is better to plan an Indian trip and also not to have a hectic schedule. better to land in Mumbai, then go to Goa and head towards North or land in Delhi, check Amritsar and Golden Triangle then head to South. if ur coming from South East Asia or srilanka then travel to Kerala, Pondicherry then n head north.

Another Pro tip if you are on a spiritual trip don't believe any one who advertises himself/herself as a holy man.
There are real gurus but they usually hide in the plain sight or are up in the mountains in Himalayas (those are nagas the naked sanyasis and best time to meet them is kumbh fair) but there are also con men (quite a lot actually) and they usually run a syndicate. So be wise and remember God men don't need to advertise themselves.

Lol! This sounds funny to me because we have no problems whatsoever living here and when somebody finds it tough to stay a day or week, that's funny. Of course, I fully understand in what ways it can be tough. Maybe, we are just used to it that we don't find it tough anymore :)
For example, I put myself into a lot of discomfort going to a new place within India, especially to the rural parts of India, as I hail from Chennai. I have even picked up fights with the locals in small towns and villages. They are different from me.
I understand a lot of factors will affect the tourists. It can be a very rude shock. We even find our daily lives tough in many ways, which we are used to, which Indians living in Malaysia and Singapore also find tough.
When they come back to India after decades, they are shocked by almost everything from the autorickshaw fares to the difficulties in moving from one place to another, even in a metro city. They say life is relatively smooth in Malaysia and Singapore. They find it very tough in India.

As an American who's been to Cambodia, Ecuador, Georgia (the country), and Nepal… visiting those countries is NOT the same as visiting almost anywhere in Europe or America. Anyone visiting from the West, faces more challenges adapting.

Do one thing... Mr Whatever.... Just don't come with your narrowmind materialistic perfect plans... coz in here we dont plan we do... fuck the rules... If anybody comes to India then just come to be alive... we are chaotic overexcited overfriendly overenthusiastic people... Thats just how we are and we love the way we are... and by the way you were talking about what used to happen 40 years back... and you still remember all of this and try to convey your thoughts on that.... LOL

Please do not listen to this man. 3/4 of what he is saying is rubbish. " You should feel like something is pulling you there" Ignorance. I want to visit India and have plans on going November 2018. Nothing is pulling me there and I don't know anyone in India. People travel the world to educate themselves on something new. This jetlag thing is crazy. 10-11 days to get over it. "Not True" I've traveled to Asia several times and yes, 2 maybe 3 days and I was good. Reviewing this video was a waste of my time. Investigate your travel destination before. Educate yourself and be safe.

Rose Momlife ur calmness can b felt thru your words and language...btw been to Australia had skin issues, so Australia is bad..!! Moreover no one invited u personally to visit India.. clean water electricity doesn't make a country great.. here in India if u visit any unknown family or home they'll welcome u as their family member..if ur poor eat in a dhaba if ur rich go to a 5 star..depends on how much money u have fr urslf..unlike West wre everything is in closed room..v produce everything on our own..wt fr are u first world..by looting n snatching!!! Poor u learn history ..v may b poor bt u earn from us n moreover from us.
