That crinkle tubing should be stretched out to create minimal air resistance and to stop moisture pooling - a better job would be to use rigid tube.
Ideally the fan should be half way along the tube.
Plus those grommets are ineffective as the screws form a direct bridge. Should be a true isolated floating fixing.
I know we all have our thoughts, but 5 minutes will not always let the 4 inch lines and the fan time to dry. It is recommended to run the fan for 20 minutes. This will not only give the system time to dry but will also clear the mirrors and ceiling from moisture, no more mold!🚿🚽

Chris just a tip ,hold on the handle of the drill ,that's what they are for,I learnt my lesson when drilling a 4inch hole .I hit a wall tie nearly broke my arm 👍

Did the same, bloody thing span around so fast..
Those vibration mounts don't do much at all since the screws will transfer all the vibration. You'd need them isolated too.

When I fit these loft fans I always incorporate a fan isolating switch next to it for maintenance purposes.

For insulation against vibration when mounting the fan you could use tyco pad, better than grommets
I think you mean Tico Pads, Tyco pads are a very different thing 😂
The 'stopper' on the strippers is adjustable and you're supposed to use it for making all your cables the right length. Cable buts up to it before stripping. I never use it

My Question is How do you confirm the fan works other than noise of the fan when working, should you not Test the extraction rate by means of testing the flow rate at the grille and the aid of maths on the duct dia, we installed a 90 M3 rated fan but in fact as the replacement air was being dragged under a door with the as required 10mm gap we only just managed to reach just over the minimum requirement as in accordance with Building Regs

If I need rubber feet or vibration dampers I usually use Tap Washers.

I fix the fan to the trusses(with a plywood plate under it)-no vibration at all
God I don't know how many dirty dusty lofts I've been in. Nice job though. I think apprentices seem to be treated with kid gloves nowadays. My uncle was always getting clipped around the back of the head for next to nothing when he was an apprentice welder.

Hi Chris, from an old spark from the 60's. Great video nicely done, much better to see more of the actual work rather than just jump to the finished job. I like the way you show warts and all in other vid's, anyone who say they know it all is telling fibs. I got a Wiha cable cutter on order from Amazon for a month now, but I may cancel and buy your Klein one you are using, any chance of a link to where you purchased from?.
