I highly recommend a GVM+ upgrade as an added piece of insurance - I personally chose the Lovells 3600kgs I also often recommend going for the chassis brace kit as well.
Hey Dan I’m late to the party on this video… FYI I once drove a stock standard… wait for it… XF wagon up to the top of Mount Meharry Not saying it was easy, but it done it under it’s own power Unsure if the road is worse now, but it was no picnic then either!
Editing is getting really good. Does the kit give you increased ride height? Looking at a kit for my 2012 Hilux but they don't seem to offer any improved ride height. Noticed you went with the razors great tyre!
Did you get a diff drop? Dmax needs one with a lift. I went a Superior Engineering with my Lovells GVM/GCM upgrade 3600/7000kg but Munji works better apparently. CV angles are steep enough with oem suspension. I am at 3200kg touring weight in a spacecab chassis with alloy tray and canvas sided alloy roofed canopoy but I have 40 lt water tank and 60 lt extra diesel tank mounted under the tray. I have steel 4 piece bash plates from Boos down under.
About to watch this vid but commenting now.. I ripped my Pedders shocks out after they only did 24000km and they were shot!! (Prado90 series). After going Fraser I noticed I was bouncing all over the road (fyi with upgraded springs). The rubbers at each end were just about gone, and I could compress and decompress the shock in my hands too easily. Was incomparable to new old man Emu.
Hey mate, I did explore a few other options but narrowed it down to brands that offered a GVM upgrade too, and I’ve had positive experiences with Pedders gear in the past and read some good things online about their Dmax kits 👌
Correct me if I am wrong but a GVM upgrade does not increase your gross combination weight. I simply means you have more chance of keeping legal after you add all of the bling. Eg winch, bar work. Roof top tent, passengers and " stuff" in the canopy. Sounds good but it gives the manufacturer an excuse to avoid drive train warranty issues etc. .
Yep the primary goal of a GVM upgrade is to increase the load rating, so you can weigh more than the factory GVM while remaining legal and insured. I believe you can also get GCM upgrade kits, but it comes down to budget and intended use. For me, the GVM upgrade is all I need as I won't be towing, and don't expect to go too far beyond factory GVM once I've finished with the setup. 🙂
Another good video keep them coming fella, curious how does this affect your warranty with Isuzu and will it increase your insurance premiums as I'm looking to update my vehicle within eighteen months.
I'd need to double check this with the dealer but I believe it's the same as any aftermarket modification - it only effects the componants that were modified (in which case, the warranty for those components covers you).
That was a good review. Perhaps follow it up with another review in six months? What sort of extra cost on the price of the D-Max did the GVM upgrade cost from Pedders (-assuming you had to pay for it yourself, approximately)?
Hey Alex, yep as Benny mentioned this particular kit was provided by Pedders, so best to get in touch with them directly for accurate pricing on what setup you're after 🙂
Nice video. Pretty flash presentation. I have this pedders kit in my dmax, it does ok not the best, but they are only foam cell shocks. Took my pedders gvm kit up to karajini too, the road between eco retreat and the visitors centre is horrendous, it faired ok? Ive had a shock replaced under warranty already.
I haven't taken it off-road without the canopy on the back yet, around town it's certainly a stiffer ride but better than I expected given the 400kg leafs in the rear
Not a massive difference but it's actually improved the ratios a bit for me personally seeing as mine's a manual - mostly noticible in first gear becuase they're so short in the 6 speeds haha so now I can get a bit of movement in first before having to change.
They’re Maxxis Razr 811 All-terrain tyres (285 70 R17) on King Rims (17x9 +12 offset). So far they’ve been performing great off-road and nice and quiet on road, but I am experiencing a bit of scrub off-road unfortunately.
@@explorebound it’s a shame there are limited options for 275/70R17 tyres, maybe you could do a detailed comparison between bigger and smaller tyres on the dmax?
What specs are your wheels? Offset and width and do you have any issues with scrubbing? I’m hopefully taking delivery of my dmax next month so just trying to plan all the mods
The rims are 17x9 with +12 offset and tyres are 285 x 70 R17. Apparently a lot of people run this size without any scrub but mine do scrub on the plastic guards a bit which is annoying, one size smaller would be better I'd say (or a bit of extra lift in the front, mine's running a 2")
Way too many cars out there playing with fire, it's soo easy to be over weight and not know it, especially towing a caravan, all extra gear, and 4 of 5 passengers, imagine getting your insurance denied or causing a major accident, not something I would like.

Can you link to where the chassis brace kit for the new DMAX is available? Thanks
@@corey498 My DMAX is a 2016 model, that I've had since new. I don't know where they are available for the newer ones.

Hey. Just watched/re watched this video as I'm about to upgrade my suspension. How has Pedders been after a couple of years of use? Cheers mate.
Videography well put together brother
Hey mate can you measure your rear axel weight and talk about those limits as well, I feel like people ignore and exceed that limit as well.
Hey mate, I’m planning on doing a full GVM upgrade specific video in future once I’ve finished the setup and will include that info too 🙂
Brilliant video work mate well done💯👌🏼 Enjoy the pedders🔥
Thanks mate! 🙂

Thanks mate, appreciate that! Yep the kit works out to roughly a 2” lift 🙂

gday mate what size lift did you get
What did you think of mount meharrey? I did the fun drive up there a few weeks back 👌
It was unreal! We stayed up there for sunset which was amazing and a fun drive too 🙂
Yeah it's pretty impressive, we camped up there for the night and the sun rise was just as good.
great vid, thank mate. what size tyres did you go for? what bullbar is that?
The tyres are 285/70 r17, and the bullbar is the ‘Toro’ model from Off-road Animal 👍
@@explorebound does the GVM kit allow for those larger size tyres or you just being a little naughty?

What size tyres and rim offset you running any issues with rub??
with your gym upgrade what tyres/rims is it 'legal with' as mine is only legal with stock cheese cutters but run alloy rims with 33's on my 79?

I did that road last week. Rental Hilux. It really isn't that bad. Certainly don't need new suspension

Which padders gvm upgrade did you choose they have two for the dmax or bt50 thanks
Hey mate, mine's just level 1 (3450kg). Level 2 wasn't available back when I got mine.
Hi mate, a little off topic but are they the maxxis razr at or mt?
They're the Razr 811s - awesome tyre so far really liking them!
Hey buddy how's the ride without your canopy on?
It’s pretty firm but better than I was expecting, and significantly better than the old Ranger used to be without its canopy on 👌
Hey mate, which weigh bridge did you go to and how much$$?
Hey mate, my local tip has one that’s free to use, but you don’t get printouts or anything just have to use the readout
