The packaging says you're supposed to start on the big strap and then the small strap, maybe that's why you're having difficulties with securing your second glove hand

How does the sizing work? If i fight at 135 but walk year round at 155 should i buy the 12oz or 16oz? Wish there was 14oz…. Great review btw

Thank you and to answer your question ultimately that totally depends on your gym. Personally the gym I go too everyone spars in 16 oz's flat out. No matter weight/gender
Some gyms allow lighter weight class fighters to wear 14s when sparring. Again, its dependent on your gym.
16 oz is a touch bigger tham 14s obviously but that just means you got to work a little harder to throw your punches which helps your endurance and more padding to protect your sparring partners. But again its totally up to you!
