The fact that Jose's record spans across his time at four different teams really stands out to me especially because that's the achievement that's least about the team and most about the manager himself.
Pep's catalogue is insane when you think about it. You have a fourpeat, winning the league in three different countries, winning a treble in two different countries and/or clubs, setting records for goals/points etc in the PL and then there is just the intangible impact of the amount of managers he has spawned + influence of his playing philosophy around the world.
Pep is the ultimate tactics manager, possibly the second most brilliant mind behind Cruyff, but he had so much help. Imagine being able to inherit one of the greatest La Masia cores, then being able to manage Bayern during their farming streak, and then given the financial backing of a NATION to put your ideas into fruition.
@DanielBlom-y4v Ronaldinho was past his peak and falling hard due to his lifestyle, and we know how Pep felt about strong personalities in his early days. It is crazy but it’s not a record that you wanted to break from day one. He might’ve been 3 years into the record and an assistant manager or someone else told him “btw you’re 3 years unbeaten at home” do you get it.
Klopp at Dortmund was unbelievable. He saved the club from ruin, made them champions, defeated Bayern and developed some of the best players of recent years with little money.
If you would have told Liverpool fans in October 2015, that they would reach three cl finals in the next six years, they would have called the police to check your mental health.
Pep's also got 12 league titles across 3 different teams. He will pass Sir Alex league titles total in less years. Think its a little unfair to limit it to PL titles only.
The whole idea behind this argument is rank these achievements by DIFFICULTY not necessarily by greatness. Because if we were talking about true greatness then Jose’s wouldn’t even get a shout for first, and the proof in that is that no one ever talks about it. I forgot about it until this episode in fact, versus where the 3 peat with Zidane is brought up a lot more often due to the sheer greatness of the achievement. But this ranking is by difficulty. And here is my ranking based on that. 1. Jose’s 9 years at home 2. Zidane’s 3 peat 3. Pep’s 4 peat 4. Sir Alex’s 13 prems 5. Ancelotti’s 5 CLs and most wins The way I see that is: If you give each of these 5 managers the same circumstances that the others had, what is the likelihood that they replicate the achievement. The higher the likelihood it is replicated the the less difficult that achievement is. That is what difficulty is in essence, something is difficult because it’s hard to replicate. That why for me the longevity ones are lower. Because for example you give these managers as long as sir Alex did in the prem, or as long as Ancelotti has been coaching in the UCL, the likelihood that they could recreate those achievements is better than the likelihood that one one of them could go 9 years unbeaten at home across 4 leagues. Of course these are GOAT level achievements so none of them are “easy” by any means dont get that twisted. I just see Jose’s 9 years and Zidane’s 3 peat as the least likely to be able to be replicated.
From a tactical perspective: Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United in 2019/20. Overlapping centre-backs revolutionised the game as they finished ninth in the Prem following two successive promotions. Who was the right wing-back for Blades those times? The late George Baldock 😢
@ solid achievement but there was no tactical innovation like Wilder who pretty much kept the same squad from League One performing in the Prem to a high level. If it wasn’t for the Covid break they would have probably snuck into Europe.
Something to mention. United 99. English league was the 3rd best league at the time and during then, some people were actually saying Bundesliga due to both Dortmund and Bayern were strong. English league was only recovering from the ban in Europe for 5 years. United carried the flag by themselves until Arsenal came along. Blackburn were terrible. Today's equivalent would be, maybe a French team outside of PSG. United were 7th favourites. Check the 7th favourites currently. United group had the favourites (Barca) and the "super squad" that was labelled at the time in Bayern. Came out there with 10 points unbeaten. Then came along the best league in the world. First R9's Inter and beat them at home and drew away. Next? Regarding as the best team in the world, Juve. Against Zidane, Del Piero, Davids, Inzaghi, Conte etc etc with Ancelotti at the realm. First leg the difference in quality was clear and united rescued a draw late on but were lucky too. Away to the best team in the world and were 2 down by 11 minutes. Game over? Came back in the first half and actually started having the upper hand. Hit the woodwork twice. And eventually the mental strength shone through with the comeback complete with Cole 3rd. Back to final against the super squad and were outplayed but again that mental strength to come back with two 90 minute goals. GREATEST RUN EVER. Imagine a Leverkusen doing that this year. We'd lose our minds. United status has maybe blinded our judgement of how that 99 run is perceived.
I get your point, but that makes it more like an underdog story. That's not what they are discussing, otherwise Leicester would be first place. The achievement itself "Winning the treble" has been done 10 times and even in England now aswell. Also the run wasn't nearly as hard as it looks and people make it seem, there have been much harder ucl runs. That Juventus team came 7th in Serie A that season, until today the worst league finish since 1962. And R9's Inter finished even worse, in 8th place. Both were in absolute shambles and all over the place. Just because they had big names, doesn't mean they were actually playing good or being in good form.
I think the sextuple by pep n barca in 2008-2009 is right up there. They didn't lose any tournament. It's insane n btw I'm a united fan. Also the treble in 99 was way more impressive than if done today.
@@anasbenali4145 Considering the teams and conditions, achieving this is too unlikely, especially since in all cases it was in the coach's first year, with teams that went through periods of low performance when their respective coaches took over, and in the case of Barcelona with a squad renewal, with teams full of top-class players in their Prime Minister's squad, with at least 2 players who could have won the Ballon d'Or, and Bayern's had unique details due to its Covid situation.
13:24 the biggest thing that people hold against Zidane is that "he had great players". All great teams had great players. But great managers make them great teams
great vid as always! agree w your rankings as well- and yes back to back/in succession achievements seem crazier because of the tiny margin of error and the ability to motivate the same players to win and win and win, while achievements like 13 PLs or 9 years unbeaten at home is insane consistency, adaptability, and constant evolution. i think the absolute best managers of the modern era (Fergie + Pep for me) have both
1. Brian Clough 1977-1980- Guides Nottingham Forest to promotion to PL in 1977, wins the PL in 1978, wins the European Cup in 1979, then goes back to back in the European Cup on 1980. Greatest achievement ever imo. 2. Ranieri wins Leicester the PL after being put 5000-1 to win it. You know how crazy 5000-1 is? Sturm Grazs are only 500-1 to win the UCL. 😂😂
Bob Paisley 6 league titles and four European trophies (3x european cups and a UEFA Cup), in nine years. And one thing that goes under the radarr with Paisley is he left new manager Joe Fagan with a winning team, something Fergie failed to do, because the following season, Liverpool won a treble, league title, European cup and the league cup.
Brian Clough getting Nottingham Forest promoted, and then winning a title and 2 UCLs back to back is a great achievement. Not top 5 compared the accomplishments mentioned. But still insane.
But Pep Guardiola will be winning his 13 League title in 16 years as Manager. Meaning he will equal Sir Alex on league, eventho its not EPLs. Mourinho's record is Guinness Record, it's almost Unbreakable.
Harry Redknapp getting Tottenham to the champions league. Wigan beating City in the FA Cup final. Emery/Sevilla Europa League dominance. Mourinho winning the champions league with Porto. Klopp winning Bundesliga with Dortmund. All underrated and top level achievements
I think the best way to decide the best achievement is to see the gap between the 1st and 2nd place finishers of each of those achievements. Jose and SAF have to be top 2
1. Zidane 3 peat 2. Ferguson 13 PL tittles (including 2 3 peats) 3. Mourinho 9 years unbeaten at home 4. Ancelotti 5 champions leagues 5. Pep 4 prem in a row
For sure the time period achievements have to be the easiest to replicate only because of the time allowed to complete it. My list also was 1. Zidane / 2. Mourinho / 3. SAF 13 / 4. Pep 4 peat / 5. Ancelotti 5 UCL
1 is Jose by far for me, it’s absolutely impossible to replicate, he did it across 4 different clubs showing it wasn’t just the team he was managing, if you add context to zidane’s 3 peat for me it’s last, no context 2nd, we can’t pretend they didn’t score multiple offside goals and have very dodgy decisions go in their favour
1) Zidane' s 3 - peat ( madrid fan, bit bias but it was crazy, i bet any Madrid fan didn't expect to win 3 in row in 16/17/18 may be until 2018 final,it wasn't a fluke, lucky, don't see any other manager/ team doing it) 2) jose' s 9 year unbeaten (4 different clubs, don't see any other manager / team doing it) 3) Fergie 13 pl titles ( longevity, making 3 - 4 different world class squad, I don't see any other manager doing it) 4) Pep' s 4 peat ( fergie could have achieved it, in other leagues other teams have Done it) 5) anchelotti ( Zidane has a great chance to do if he choose a great team )
I think the pep one is a little bit limiting (using your rankings), but if you look at it holistically 13 league titles in 16 seasons - in there, you have 3 peat 3 times & 4 peat ones ( with two trebles in there) that's just ridiculous
One determining factor why i give to jose is not just the longevity and having to be perfect, but also because his feat is more of a reflection of HIS greatness as a manager in comparison to the team greatness since it's with different teams and league's
13 prem's is actually mad considering how much adaptation and overcming big managers you need to do. i mean SAF saw off peak mourinh wenger and benitez. and had to constantly change and rebuild teams, in the hardest league in the world
5. Pep 4 peat because sir Alex almost did it twice. 4. Don Carlo 5 UCL titles - adaptability, written off multiple times, man management, vibes and that chewing gum. 3. Sir Alex 13 league titles in 20 years - dominance like that belongs to the Scottish league or something like that amazing achievement. 2. Jose - 9 years unbeaten at home - yeah stupidly good achievement but can't be number one because it's not actually an achievement it's a record. 1. Zizou 3 - peat lets face it UCL is the pinnacle of club football winning it even once is a damn good achievement but winning it three times on the trot as a debut manager yeah that's mythical stuff big bro.
3peat(UCL) is the greatest achievement in football . Neymar's PSG MSN prime years Klopps Liverpool Man City's Centuries Simeones Atleti Mbappe's Monaco Juve's Allegri Bayerns dominant era All failed to end the dominance!
Based on what actually? Its literally the opposite. It was well documented in spanish media that barca were lucky to avoid real in 2015 final. We beat barca that season 3-1 in the league. Scored more goals and only lost league by 2 pts cuz modric got injured. We would have beaten barca and there would be NO treble. Saying "so sure" is deludional . In zidane's reign barca never did anything to madrid. We were the best team in the world by far
what about Emery winning europa league 3 times in a row? because for the last one he had to get exactly 3rd in their UCL group, so there was no margin for error, kind of
You guys didn't mention that Pep has won 12 League titles. Barca: 08/09, 09,10, 10/11 Bayern: 13/14, 14/15, 15/16 Man City: 17/18, 18/19, 20/21, 21/22, 22/23, 23/24 Pep could match Ferguson's titles this season.
The fourpeat is less impressive when you remember Fergie was 1 point and a goal difference away from doing 7 on the spin. No Aguero goal, and one more win in the 2009/2010 season and he's done 7 on the bounce, and has 15 instead of 13. I know it's a 'what if?' but it's a crazy what if. He also did that with Chelsea and Liverpool right up his ass, and City emerging after.
You’re talking team achievements not managers. Managers achievements are graded by their teams performance stats. ie: Goals Clean sheets, formations, Consecutive Wins, highest points Tallies etc etc. winning three trophies in a row is more of a team accomplishment not managerial achievements.
The reason Zidane don’t get credit like that is because he hasnt managed anyone else. Why is he not taking other jobs?? Or is he not getting the offers.
Being unbeaten in 9 years at home is seriously consistent and Boss.
Considering who Mourinho played against that whole time no one's ever beating that record. Ever
I remember this record ended when Madrid dedicated a game to R9 & we lost lol
Haven't watched the video yet but I believe it was last placed Sunderland who ended it aswell. Connor Wickham if I remember correctly
The fact that Jose's record spans across his time at four different teams really stands out to me especially because that's the achievement that's least about the team and most about the manager himself.

1) Zidane' s 3 - peat
( madrid fan, bit bias but it was crazy, i bet any Madrid fan didn't expect to win 3 in row in 16/17/18 may be until 2018 final,it wasn't a fluke, lucky, don't see any other manager/ team doing it)
2) jose' s 9 year unbeaten
(4 different clubs, don't see any other manager / team doing it)
3) Fergie 13 pl titles
( longevity, making 3 - 4 different world class squad, I don't see any other manager doing it)
4) Pep' s 4 peat ( fergie could have achieved it, in other leagues other teams have Done it)
5) anchelotti ( Zidane has a great chance to do if he choose a great team )
I think the pep one is a little bit limiting (using your rankings), but if you look at it holistically 13 league titles in 16 seasons - in there, you have 3 peat 3 times & 4 peat ones ( with two trebles in there) that's just ridiculous
ancelotti also has won league titles in 5 different leagues
One determining factor why i give to jose is not just the longevity and having to be perfect, but also because his feat is more of a reflection of HIS greatness as a manager in comparison to the team greatness since it's with different teams and league's
13 prem's is actually mad considering how much adaptation and overcming big managers you need to do. i mean SAF saw off peak mourinh wenger and benitez. and had to constantly change and rebuild teams, in the hardest league in the world
Sir Alex treble is up there!
Put this on apple podcast please
Neymar's PSG
MSN prime years
Klopps Liverpool
Man City's Centuries
Simeones Atleti
Mbappe's Monaco
Juve's Allegri
Bayerns dominant era
All failed to end the dominance!
The Madrid 3 peat is probably the best but I’m so sure if they faced Barca even once they would not have won 3 in a row
Madrid beat Barcelona in 14/15, 15/16 and 17/18, If Madrid and Barca would have met in the final in 14/15 or 15/16 Im sure Madrid would have won.
@@uvongcukana5440 milan won 3peat
Milan won 3peat
@@RangeshMutama-p9dthey didnt. 3 finals in a row , lost 2. Just accept it our achievement was the greatest in last 30 years of football.
9 years undefeated is just crazy😂
what about Emery winning europa league 3 times in a row? because for the last one he had to get exactly 3rd in their UCL group, so there was no margin for error, kind of
Do a video of the 5 greatest comebacks in football
You guys didn't mention that Pep has won 12 League titles.
Barca: 08/09, 09,10, 10/11
Bayern: 13/14, 14/15, 15/16
Man City: 17/18, 18/19, 20/21, 21/22, 22/23, 23/24
Pep could match Ferguson's titles this season.
I think they got side tracked at the end. 9 years unbeaten at home has to be the hardest.
Jose is the hardest pause
Why did you guys focus on the managers rather than the teams
The fourpeat is less impressive when you remember Fergie was 1 point and a goal difference away from doing 7 on the spin. No Aguero goal, and one more win in the 2009/2010 season and he's done 7 on the bounce, and has 15 instead of 13.
I know it's a 'what if?' but it's a crazy what if. He also did that with Chelsea and Liverpool right up his ass, and City emerging after.
3 champs, alex ferguson 13, jose, ancelotti,pep
You could do player records same way
Can we get these on Spotify?
Man kids will never understand why jose has the streets
Ranieri tops it all
No will ever have the charisma and aura of Jose Mourinho
i feel like narrowing peps prems down to the 4 peat is tough. It’s 6/7 and the one he didn’t win has a fat covid * on it
Not his fan but Jose ❤ 💥⭐
Lobanovskkyi has 13 prem titles too
The special one ☝️ 🇵🇹 getting second in the league 😂 with United
lyes with the burger king drip
You’re talking team achievements not managers. Managers achievements are graded by their teams performance stats. ie: Goals Clean sheets, formations, Consecutive Wins, highest points Tallies etc etc. winning three trophies in a row is more of a team accomplishment not managerial achievements.
Why do Cams and Lyes remind of Tariq and Brayden from Power
The reason Zidane don’t get credit like that is because he hasnt managed anyone else.
Why is he not taking other jobs??
Or is he not getting the offers.
3-peat CL
9 years unbeaten
fergie 13 PLs
Carlo 5 CL wins
Pep 4-peat PL
Playing devils advocate, should Arsenes invincible season be on this list? Talking about feats that may never be replicated, I’d have it on the list
Leverkusen did it last year?
@@johannjuarez1393 imo Arsenes in the Prem was more impressive. If Leverkusen won the Europa I’d give it to them
Jose segment😂😂😂
how many trophies has Jose won with 9 years unbeaten?
Loool i really think that’s not peps greatest achievement imo 12 league titles in 15 years of management is way more impressive
