You're really paying for them to run the background check that verifies you are who you say you are and that you are safe to have reduced screening. If there's some sort of issue, like the video, you still won't get it.
You can get precheck after seven years as long as it's a felony in the tsa category b of disqualifying criminal offences. I'm a felon and have precheck and I had the same problem as you with the scanner. It is definitely worth having.
9th circuit just ruled we as convicted felons, if nonviolent felons, can possess a firearm for defense. It was a case in California. Technically speaking it only applies to the man that was arrested for felon in possession. But from here on out (unless US supreme Court overturns) if I get caught with a gun and I'm not using the gun for crime, I just have it, and get stopped for something else and charged with felon in possession.. I can have that charge dismissed based on the higher Court's decision from this week.

You look at precedent cases and relevant statues. If you have no experience it’s best to ask for help
