Good stuff! I'm currently researching tyres and fitting a 110/80 18" front opens up your choices considerably. The difference in size is only 2mm between the stock size as well, so hardly any difference.
It happens to my Vulcan S 650 too. I am happy about the 17’ rear wheel that you can actually get any type of tires you like. The Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2 is the one that can be used in my sport cruiser. When I ride far away in the continent close to the boarder of Mongolia , I need the tread to overcome gravel road occasionally.

R17 is the most common used. I need to find out R18 for my Vulcan S front. I am going to use scorpion trail for the rear and probably angel GT for the front . Thanks !
I've put ~3000km on the Scorpion Trail II and I couldn't be happier. As you say, grip and confidence are great on the wet and dry. I did my first track day this week and they handled it pretty well; quick to get warm, nice feeling in the curves and on the brakes.

Francois Stephany Track day? Really I was a bit skeptical about the dry grip this is great news then, I live in a very hot weather we don’t see many season variations so street use in the dry is main purpose for me not much off road so a better dry grip than the phantom is what I wanted
I just ordered a set for my T120 , along with an Outex rimless conversion kit. Really looking forward to improved handling and mileage!

Looks like u have a nice "man cave" there ... How's about a 'garage tour' ...... Car / "other bikes" ??? Tools Chest / Bike lift etc ... Makes and Models of STUFF YOU USE ... ie - recommendations. GR8 channel. Keep the vidz coming.

I couldn't have been happier to get rid of the stock Pirelli tyres on my t120. The scorpion trails 2 have been the top tyre I've used. They travel at high speeds, great with high speed turning through twisties and feel planted to the road, which gives great confidence.
The MT60RS has a great feel too and really stick to the road but you can feel the tyre knobs transition as you lean into the turn, however the tyre wants to transition to lean quickly in corner and have a great feel.
For me milage is secondary. If you are looking for a good confident tyre in wet and dry that can go on dirt tracks, both of these tyres are great.
But my next pair will probably be the scorpion trails 2 again.

Oh yes! it certainly rains in the UK, although I live in a part which, technically speaking, by rainfall has been classed as a desert in the past

I put these on my nc750sa , much better than the stock one's will be getting the same when I need new tyres,
I have found that I can lean more in the corners with these , have managed to use about 90% of the tyre tread I highly recommend these tyres

Been using these tyres on my T120 for a few years now. I wouldn’t go back.
I’m truly impressed by the tires. Not sure about wet but gravel was much better than trail wings. WR250r is what I have them on absolutely great on street.
These were really really good, and are a massive improvement over the stock tyres in the wet

Thanks for another very useful video. I have noticed by Street Twin seems to follow road grooves more than other bikes that I have riden. I wonder if you have noticed this and if you have found any improvement with the Scorpions?

Stay far away from the mt60rs IF you're thinking of doing some longer trips or using the bike as a daily commuter. I have the scrambler from ducati and i have just worn out the third rear wheel tire in just 12000km, the front wheel lasted (of course) longer. Reallyreally great grip in wet and cold conditions as well as gravel and it can be taken to the track without shaming itself or the owner, but the ultra poor mileage is a dealbreaker, at least for me. Ill be trying the conti road attack 2 next.

Hmm... great review as always....I did note you said £20-£30 for fitting....I've got these tyres on order and the place charging £60 for fitting and balancing both...this is 3 years later granted but has inflation doubled?! Been warned off using a mobile fitter (better to go with on site place - better machines, less risk of powder-coating chipped etc I advised). My supplier at least nearby and got a good rep so £240 all in (as opposed to the £200-£210 you quote) seems fair....

I'd love to have knobby tires, but we have planed concrete highways here, and knobby tires squirm on planed concrete.
These should be fine, they are not squirmy like block tread tyres...

For definitely, you’ll notice the difference in the tyres straight away, especially in the wet

They should be fine. Great tyres. I’ve ridden the MT60 rs on another bike and thought they were good, but apparently they don’t last long
For how many kms can i expect scorpion trail 2 to last. Mostly 90% times i stick to good tarmac roads. Planning to upgrade to these. On my interceptor, currently stock one is running good on odo of 10.5k. will be good for another 2.5k kms. My cruising speed is of around 110-130kmph.
How much odo should i expect for trail 2 rear tyre.
You should be good for pretty much the same sort of KM’s

Very good review! How would you consider these compared to Bridgestone Battlax A41 and Avon Trailrider? Considering where to go from TKC 70 on my T120 :) Would appreciate your views!
Thanks, I had the A41's on my Tiger 800 and they were very good but felt a little 'heavy' when turning in, and Ive ridden a KTM 790 with the Avons and they were very good also, but I found that they 'tramlined' a little bit. Any would be a good choice assuming you can get the right size. The 18 inch front wheel can be tricky

I ride mostly in tarmac but the roads are not great sandy wet roads are all their but I really want good dry grip so just purely based on dry grip is it an upgrade over the phantom scomp ? Please help thanks

Heidenau JUST started making their K60 Scout tire in the 100/90/18 size for our bikes. So now I'm considering those, or these Scorpion Trail II's. I'm afraid of (1) vibration and (2) grip at high lean angles.
I hear good things about the k60’s other than how long they last. For grip and smooth running the scorpion trails are hard to beat for a dual sport tyre
@@mancavemoto Yeah I think I've decided the Scoprions, I'll put em on at the end of this season. I'd go for the K60 Scouts, except I'm noticing that the T120 really comes to life when really hauling ass through twisties which is something I don't think the K60s could handle too well. It responds well too to proper body position, though I'm sure I look like a tool hahahah.
@@mancavemoto Hey did you keep the intertubes? Or did you do a tubeless conversion? Any thoughts on that? I've never had a bike with tubes before, and not sure I want to mess with the stock configuration...
The only time I had to switch to tubes is when the spoked wheels went on and I had the TKC80’s. The scorpion trails on the cast wheels were tubeless
@@mancavemoto Ah. Yeah my T120 stock wheels are spoked and tubed. I''m assuming it's safer to just keep the tubes in and not go for the tubeless conversion.
Interesting enough, Pirelli is rating the Phantom Sportscomp as B in the wet (ABB) and the Scorpion Trail II as C (BCB) which on paper would make the Phantoms a better choice in the wet (and an overall better choice between the two).
Just shows how ‘on paper’ and ‘real world’ can differ.....
Agree, but both ratings come from the same vendor which is weird. Why would they "degrade" one of their products vs another. The only conclusion would be that the vendor published specs are not to be trusted... Anyway, good review, I plan to using these on my T120 as soon as I can get rid of the factory fitted ones.

Have these on my Ducati Mutley Enduro but I don’t find these tires that good. They are OK in the dry but not very good in the UK wet. However, they have lasted well at over 7k so far and no squaring off or much degradation. Choosing tires is very subjective and what works for one person might not for the next. I’m gonna give the Avon TrailRiders a blast
Hi Tony, I have just changed to a street twin and done just over 7000 k on the stock phantoms and the front has worn far quicker than the rear and aren't far off needing changing, any ideas why as it's normally the other way round cheers
A lot depends on how you ride and the roads you ride on
Yeah, must be me, I do ride them pretty hard, I found them pretty good in the twisties and hairpins in Germany but will take your advice and try the scorpions...cheers
Hi Tony... Just curious why most of Triumph bikes have 18" front and rear 17" I thought normally the other way around 17" front and 18"rear.. Is it about the riding stability or other reasons?

I think its more because of the retro look, in the old days i think the 18” front was a common size. With a 17” in the front it might look a bit silly... just my 2 cent.

Yes they will fit, they were a tyre I was considering for a while.

@@mancavemoto hi but on my street twin 900 cc there is only 6 mm clearance between chain and tire with the stock tires of 150/70 r18 and if i fit the mt60 rs 160/60 r18 than there is only 1mm clearance between chain and the tire, is it Ok to fit them.
In reality you will have a little more than that as the tyre sidewall Profile is taller. It’s been a regular tyre choice on the street twin, check this out.... www.bonnefication.com/coolmotorcycles/

Beautiful white blue Triumph Scrambler 2006 here, yea tuned with stinky carburetor :D, off road pipes (which I put dampers in for the noise) and self made army bag. Makes pussy come. Now got the Heidenau 69T tires, they basically almost off road. Might look less cool getting more road %, but I drive mostly road, and the Heidenau's just don't give me riding pleasure at all. At least the Scorpions still got a bit the looks and I hear great things about it, so I ordered them!

Unfortunately Pirelli has discontinued the 18"front tire for 2023. Might be worth trying the Michelin Anakee Adventure next round. 110 80/18 will fit fine, and also dual compound.

@@mrZillion I have the adventures and they are fine so far, but I have not really pushed them to limits. They are definitely louder, due to the more aggressive tread, but I have been on a couple of dirt and gravel roads that were much easier to deal with on the Anakees. Street and country Road handling has not been negatively impacted thus far. Haven't ridden on them in the rain yet.
