I’ve read that you can avoid the ‘oil rush’ by taking it slow and using plenty of lube. But where’s the fun in that?!

That’s exactly right! Just rip the plug out and enjoy the tsunami! And if you really want to make things interesting, place a baby seal under the oil pan and re-create what happens out at sea. Then you can clean the seal with Dawn. Be one hell of a RUclips video.
