I grew up listening to this group & they are one of my favorites from the 60's-80's. Love their mix of rock with classical music. They have a sound like no other band. Their most famous song is "Nights In White Satin". But they have so many great songs such as "Go Now", "Tuesday Afternoon", "The Story In Your Eyes", "Ride My See-Saw", "I'm Just a Singer (In a Rock and Roll Band)", "Gemini Dream", "The Voice" etc. All of their music is great! Many of their records are concept albums & meant to be listened to all at once. Sadly Ray Thomas their flute player & singer passed away in 2018 & their drummer Graeme Edge passed away in 2021.

Too many times people ignore all their other songs for "Nights in White Satin" to the point where it is overplayed, just like "Stairway to Heaven" [led you-know -who] and "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" [ the late Gordon Lightfoot] as if that's the only song they ever did. It's a decades long disease called "CRCRP"....corporate radio classic rock playlists. That goes for almost every 1960's, 70's and 80's bands now bleeding into the decades that came after. It's refreshing to finally hear and see someone exposed to their other great work.

If you were "tripping balls", pop on some Moodies, and all will be well. I have been there. Jon Anderson will also bring you back to homeostasis. Medicinal. A good buzz. Play all you want. During their classic first 7 albums, I believe only Nights in White Satin, Tuesday Afternoon, and Question were released in the US as singles. That leaves at least 3 entire brilliant albums that only succeeded by word-of-mouth among mostly college students or college radio.

One of the greatest strengths of Hip Hop is how they use language to talk about the needs of todays life. However, they did not invent this idea. Many groups from the 60's and 70's did this regularly. The Moody Blues were one of the best at this. The problem with the Moody Blues is EVERY album is a theme album. In other words, each song is part of a larger tapestry. If you want to see this on this song, listen to the ending song of the album, "Answer".

Days of Future Passed may be the only album I have saved on Spotify in its entirety, but A Question of Balance (which this kicks off) is the one I come back to the most. "The Balance" answers the question nicely. "Dawning Is the Day" is easily one of my favorites.
    Next, though, should be:
"Procession" and "The Story in Your Eyes" AS A PAIR (this is crucial - a lot of their stuff is designed to flow into each other during album play. Also, if you include Procession, then you can follow up with "One More Time To Live" and get a lot more out of it.)
"I'm Just a Singer in a Rock and Roll Band," for an absolute banger
"Talking Out of Turn," for something in the same vein as "Your Wildest Dreams"

I was lucky. I got to know this music well back in the day when I was....probably your age.

I've seen them more than any other band in concert. The first time in Honolulu, 1973, for $2.50 at the HIC Arena! What a transformational experience for me! My next Moody Blues suggestion- a Ray Thomas' song, 'Legend of a Mind', a song about Timothy Leary and his LSD tripping.

Nights written '69.....aired '71. Most identifiable, yesh, but each album has EQUALLY potent messages. Try Tuesday Afternoon, Ride My Seasaw, Story in your Eyes,,,,,In your wildest Dreams was rheir final "single", 1980. So much candy from JustinHayward, ead vox and lead guitar. Thanks, Cuz Steve
