    From Montreal here and you're one of the few that talks about 'winter' running. A lot of places 'winter' means something around freezing point but here -10c -20c is normal so this helps alot

      it drives me crazy when I see brand photo shoots of their winter apparel. I get it that the photos typically get taken in the fall or maybe even summer, but if the models aren't wearing gloves or even using thumb holes, it kind of undercuts the message that the kit is suitable for actual winter running

      The weather we got here this week (Montreal too) is what people consider the “worst” of their own winter, which makes it hard to swallow lol 😂 Gotta love those Texas vlogs in January and February where it’s basically spring.

    Of all the BS i hear from experts on shoe running and testing , i have a special place in my heart for you. I enjoy your reviews to the max, love the takes of the surroundings , and hold your opinion very highly regarded. You are one of the few , who keep a clear, impartial , all round view concerning running shoes , and with a very reasonable sight of the things that really matter !!. A big hallo and running hugs from Greece . Keep giving us the inspirational pace !

    • @lambroslioumis2947
      @lambroslioumis2947 2 года назад

      @@Pinhead101 The difference my dear Kofuzi , is one of quality . There are a lot of there, as you know better than me , individual and groups . Who are mostly eager to trash specific brands, not giving convincing arguments about the negatives , not pointing out what really matters to all non elite runners , and stating some clown excuse of the shoe being ugly or poorly constructed, because they don’t like it in vision …. Go figure . !! And some who I think are mad to the world , or discovered that their wife was cheating on them , and take it out on the shoe review , by waiting around the corner to just trash it after 500miles … what do you expect? You bought a pair of sneakers, not a car tire !!! There is one who I believe experiences planetary cultural shock waves , I think is called the FoB runner or something.. And plenty others . The difference is quality . Quality of opinion , quality of review, quality of respecting the brand under review , quality of expressing a different opinion with solid arguments and respect . All those set you apart to my humble and non expert opinion !! I enjoy watching you talk , run , presenting, and having a graceful attitude and love , towards your sport , hobby , living … whatever that may be . That sets you far apart !!

      @@vitpospisil2882 I think he has a very poor perception of the true essence of a review . Poor knowledge also I think . You stand apart, and what sets you apart is quality and humility. You have a natural respect in your speech and perception. This you either have it , or not ! This is a quality of the teachers of Ancient Greece . In which the word teacher is expressed by the Greek word - daskalos - which means teacher, but not in the English meaning . Daskalos meant someone with modesty, deep knowledge, natural kindness, who was not afraid to pass true knowledge and impartial opinion . You remind me of that . So do not bother with the rest , just run , and keep inspiring us . There are far worse out there , than the aforementioned one . You are apart just by being you . And that is irreplaceable! ! Quality cannot be hidden .. at least for long . Chili greetings from Athens … although I envy the cold of Chicago ! You got real winter over there . Got a taste of it actually, I visit once in a while Boston… got fam there . Wish you all the best in your marathon effort . Hope you kill the miles by the dozen !! 😂😂. Stay strong .

    To add another tip (been in Calgary for over 30 years and have run in -35C or so), don’t use a down jacket when really cold. They really hold the sweat in and become useless after even short workouts. Great info Michael. Yes, Craft makes fantastic winter gear, especially their ‘protective’ underwear that provide great wind protection for the nether regions. Cheers!

I have also been a guinea pig for all of the technology I could afford to keep warm and safe through those winter miles. From cotton long johns and sweat pants to Gore-Tex head to toe, I have used it all, luckily not losing any digits or other vital body parts😅 I'd enjoy a few reviews of winter running shoes. I never ran in below freezing point weather, so the most layers I would wear was a long sleeved base, with a t-shirt on top, and then a very light jacket if it was raining. I found full gloves got too sweaty, so I would use fingerless gloves if it was in the 30s. And a beanie or headband to keep my ears warm.

    Hi I know you are running CIM (so am I) and am sure you've talked to the runners who are familiar with the course. Anyway, it's "net" downhill, so it's not like a tunnel race in WA or Rebel series that's actually all the way downhill. It's more like rolling hills especially mile 16 to 19 which is just a stretch of a road in the residential area. It gets tough and after mile 21 there's a bridge (small one) that feels like a wall. The spectators are great and lots of supports on the course. Good luck and enjoy CIM!

    Hey, I've got a question about layering. When I run in the winter I'm sweating a lot and then I feel cold. Especially in the neck/chest area. Even if I only do 10k. What's strange is that on the inside I feel warm but my skin is cold, like that I easily catch a cold. Now i've heard that the base layer should take up the moisture to wick it off and for the wind I should wear a hardshell on top of it. But where is the moisture supposed to go when trapped in a hardshell? How do I get rid of the moisture and be protectet from the Wind? When I'm adding a thick enough layer of fleece or synthetic fibre to hold off the wind im feeling too warm. If I'm removing the baselayer, the cold sweat remains on my skin. Is there a Goretex jacket the only way to go? Thanks for your Video.

    I have been trying to find some sort of facemask for running where it does not fog up your sunglasses. I have concluded that the only option would have to be something with a firm seal almost like he would experience with swimming goggles but instead at the top end of the mask. Everything else just does not work. It seems neither does any of the anti-fog sprays for glasses and such. Anybody have success finding a product to handle this?

    How about shoe selection??? When the roads are covered in snow and ice do you switch to a trail shoe for better grip and weather protection?

      I apologize that I didn't make it more clear that would discuss winter running shoes separately. generally, I like crossover trail shoes, or light trail shoes, depending on what surface I'm running on and how much and what kind of precipitation I might encounter. I really like goretex.
      that being said, I've taken out regular road shoes, like the nearly rubber-less beacon 3, out on the snow, and it can be fine, depending on the run.
