I still am
I had this album when it was new. It has aged well. The sound is full heavy, powerful, Gritty and thick, While still having vulnerability, and honesty .Its better than i remember. The 90s was awesome..long live the 90s
nailed it
Yes. Seems nothing teaches us like back then..
*100% Well Said !!*
Agreed, artists do not compose music like this anymore. I miss the 90s so very much.
Wasn't this early 2000's?
Timeless album. Takes me back to a simpler time.
A much simpler time...
HEAR that
like him ^ i hear that
@@ogrebattle22763 an extremely simpler time
Just think, if we knew then that someday that would have been thought of as "a simpler time" ..
Makes me wonder what we'll be thinking in the decades to come.
This is one of their best songs! Completely underrated!
The whole album is a great album, people can bash Creed all they want, but let's be honest there were much worse bands back then, and there are way worse bands now.
There are no real bands now. All wankers.
Not a Creed fan!!... But this song jams!!🤘🤘
@GYPSY KING FURY Listen to metal!!!

At 31 years old, time has definitely increased how badass this album is.
true facts man
What's 31? U or the album bcuz in my mind this album couldn't have been longer than 24 yrs ago
Aug 26 1997 release date
I am 32, and I totally agree
Im 30 but FUCK yes!
I remember this was the last song I sang with my “band” back in early 2000’s. We played a little bar across the street from Flora-Bama. The wind was blowing at night, we were out on a deck and there was a little rain coming down. 1 guy dressed in a 3 piece suit with hair slicked back, sat in the front row by himself watching us. He was the only audience member, no joke 😂. When the last chorus kicked it in, he stood up and started head banging, hard! Was insane but so freaking awesome! We finished, he walked over to me and handed me 4 $100 bills and said “Creed- Torn and STP- Dead and Bloated were two best covers I’ve ever heard. Thank you.” Calmly, shook my hand and pretty much vanished. Unfortunately, that was the end of my “singing career”, we just lost touched after that night. I thought he may of been a sign of good things to come…nope 😂.
Great memories though 😎🤘🏻
I don’t know why I shared this.
Did he have a goatee by any chance? 😂
Awesome memory!🤟

This is late but I’m praying for you brother or sister ❤️. Jesus loves you.
I never was a huge Creed fan but this album is a masterpiece. Mark Tremonti is a very underrated guitarist.
I concur
Another underrated guitarist is Wes Borland. Im not a huge L B fan but hes really unique.
? no one underrates Mark Tremonti... he´s considered top notch among the community...
@@ironwoodreviews8604 Still is.

I'm 42 and just really listening in 2023. Shouldve paid attention in the 90s smfh
I’m 40, and that’s exactly how I feel listening to them now.
The oldest I ever was in the 90s was 5 🤣I'm glad I've found them in later years also. Their lyrics speak to me on a level not many rock bands do.
*I'm almost 41.. When this album came out, I left it in the cd player for probably a year... Miss the 90's so much.*
@@carbonconnection2480 Same. I think about the 90s way more these days. Feels like we’re living an episode of twilight zone that never ends, while the 90s felt like a beautiful, golden dream that can never be again. Brings me to the verge of tears sometimes.
@@leopetaccia1012. *I can go on for days of how the 80's and 90's were the best years of my life. Today, kids have no idea what its like to play outside until the street lights come on. They don't really have birthday parties like we did etc. Now everyone is stuck in the house looking at each other crazy all day... I'll gladly go back any second now* 🙏🏼
This song is so underrated!! Forgot about it for a few years, found it and turned the volume all the way up. Gave me goosebumps

This is a jewel from the 1990s ...
🤘🤘🤘
Absolutely 😳
This song is not underrated please stop saying that look at the views dude it's no where near "underrated" under appreciated maybe but not underrated
My dad used to listen to this song a lot in his 72 Chevelle when he was going through a really bad divorce with my mom, he left my sister and I for eight years and disappeared …I never understood why he was so torn but now that I’m older and I listen to this song I know
Thank you everybody who appreciates this kind of music . I thought I was a lone soldier but we're still here loving this genre of music that has all but died it feels like
I actually found it interesting, if you go to rockfeed they have a video about Creed, and while some of the comments on it are dismissive of the band, A lot of them are actually really supportive. Creed had been a punching bag in rock music for so long, that sometimes it feels like you're the only person that listens to them. You don't sell millions of albums when no one listens to you. There are worse bands than Creed. Heck, there are worse bands than Nickelback. I'm not saying that to bash Nickelback, everyone already has, I'm just making a point. Creed is a band that had legitimate talent, but for whatever reason, when one person decided to make fun of them everyone else had to. It's like buying a smartphone, because your friends all have that same brand of smart phone, not because it's actually useful or you actually need it.
I feel ya bro! Still one of my favorite bands and I'm 40! I remember hearing this when it first dropped! Awesome stuff!!!
how could someone think to be the only one who listens to a certain genre? i mean look at how many views this shit has
I been unearthing Second Coming a lot of late 🤘
My love of rock and metal is literally coz of these guys. I literally remember listening to these at the age of like 8 and being so mind blown.
'97 was a great year for "post-grunge" music
Your right. Let me name a few Freak show by Silverchair, The Yellow album by Days Of The New, Secret Samadhi by Live, Clumsy by Our Lady Peace, Disciplined Breakdown by Collective Soul, Tip by Finger Eleven and this album
@@televisionmouth9709 no one gives days of the new credit, it's like they're completely forgotten. OLP never really got the credit they deserve. I think it's generally the ones that kind of fade away after a few albums. Probably why AiC don't get the credit they deserve.I mean, I love Nirvana but AiC were grunge and heavy and dark and melodic, plus Staley... Post grunge doesn't get the credit it deserves in general I guess.
Mike Cappadocia I agree Days of the new and OLP deserve a lot of credit. The reason why I think days of the new faded out is because of Travis Meeks Drug addiction and for OLP I think because everybody thought they sounded like the Smashing Pumpkins and something happened to Silverchair and Creed everyone thought they ripped off Nirvana and Pearl Jam. I’ll admit I like Creed and Pearl Jam but I don’t think Scott Stapp sounds anything like Eddie Vedder.
@@televisionmouth9709 yeah critics suck and are so simple minded and just compare bands. Everything also got so soft with blink 182 and those bands. Days second album was kinda iffy too.. I think this was honestly probably the last year any of this kind of music worked.. I remember 97 being full of good, albeit softer Post-Post grunge music, then Brittany spears and shit happened.
This album SMOKES. It's heavy, intelligent, and groovy. The guitars chug. And the rhythm section has punch and balls.
golly gee whiz! I think its just swell too!

April 13th 2022 . Haven't heard this in a while. They had a melodic and heavy sound.
If I ignore the religious connotation (which I do), it is amazing!
makes even more sense now, unfortunatley, 2023 here checking in
This song is so damn good! In the early nineties I was busy with Nirvana, Soundgarden, screaming trees, mudhoney and the like.... And a little later on in 1997 I kind of dismissed this band... But now, listening to it again, this first album is a must-have!!!!!!!
Just the opening alone gives me goosebumps. Such a bad ass riff accompanied by a bass from a nother realm.
Brian Marshall was phenomenal with these guys.

Almost the end of 2019 and still jammin these songs from my childhood. Although these songs didn't mean shit to me when I was a kid and i am now 27 and they mean a whole lot to me now.
Although this album came out when I was 9, actually the same year my father died, I didn't really start listening to them until I was almost a teenager, but do you know what? I have no shame in it. Creed is a good band, and I will die defending that statement. I get what you're saying though, these songs are a lot more deeper than when we were younger aren't they?
Yea dude most definatley im 26 years old and same here this song rocks out hard!
I still love this fucking song. I still feel it.

Stapp grew up one street over from me when I was a kid, he was about 5 yrs younger than me, so didn't hang out with him much. His father is still a practicing dentist here in FL, I service his ac at his office. This album blew me away when it came out, saw them live in Orlando before the album really blew up...

Torn is about addiction
...and Jail
because of it. Great song!
I think it's more about losing faith, but then we all have our own perceptions of music.
@MundoDragon,
Agree with your interpretation 100%.
I've noticed that many songs are regarded as being about addiction when they are, in fact, actually about the spiritual pain that often leads to it
love them
It can be about purgatory
It’s by no coincidence that my on prison and torn are next to each other on cd I’ve been a addict on and off for 30 years
still my favorite album by Creed hands down wish they made more music like this album they would have gone alot further
Always been my favorite song by Creed. Still blasting this shit to this day!

I recently watched an interview with Scott about what he endured as a child.
This song has a whole new meaning to me now. I truly hope you have found peace in life, Scott. It is so deserved. You are loved.
Lyrics
Peace is
What they tell me
Love am I unholy
Lies are what they tell me
Despise you that control me
The peace is dead
In my soul
I have blamed the reasons for
My intentions poor
Yes
I'm the one who
The only one who
Would carry on this far
Oh
Torn,
I'm filthy
Born
In my own misery
Stole all that you gave me
Control you claim you save me
The peace is dead
In my soul
I have blamed the reasons for
My intentions poor
Yes
I'm the one who
The only one who
Would carry on this far
Peace in my head
Love in my head
Lies
Lies
Lies
Lies in my head.
Oh
The peace is dead
In my soul
I have blamed the reasons for
My intentions poor

I'm the one who
The only one who
Would carry on this far
The peace is dead
In my soul

I don't care how much they get ripped on...Creed was freaking solid and great live! These guys didn't put out any filler for 3 killer albums
This song aged so well
I’ll never forget this album when it came out bc my brother bought it and we both instantly found our favorite album of that time bc this album is pure and raw and you it’s something you can’t be thought and clearly their next few albums blew up but in my opinion they don’t come close to this first album
Their first album was their best, and this is the first song on that album. This was back before they got overplayed, you know, before they always asked if you can take me high-ya', back when we could listen to Creed without throwing up in our mouths a little. Great song.
While agree this album was the best you can speak for yourself about puking in your mouth about Higher. Nothing about that song is bad. He's praising God and Heaven and it sounds great. So yeah speak for yourself.
Saw them live 3 or 4 times around the time this album was released. St George Island Florida was one of their best shows as a local band. Still have autographed memorabilia. Love this!
Saw them three times myself. Toledo, Detroit, and Madison,WI. The Madison show was by far the best concert I’ve seen. Three doors down, sevendust, then creed!
We had teenage relatives in from Poland the summer of 1997 and they took this home with them , loved it.
Great song! Reminds me of the 90s
I was 10 when this album came out. I miss the 90's so bad!!!
One of only two songs I like by creed, but damn this song takes me way back.
In my opinion, they have many awesome songs. Almost all of them!
Takes me back to 1999
What’s the other one?
Back to being 16 and wild lol
I never understood at the time why Mark Tremonti was considered such an awesome guitarist by pro guitarists (I was probably 16 or 17 when he started getting all these accolades in guitar magazines). But now that I'm 40, I hear it:) His guitar parts are sooo well written and musical.
saw them at Rockstock when they first came to Chicago and it was killer. They wore plain t shirts and blue jeans and the music spoke for itself. I will never forget how real and awesome it was. i saw them a few years back at the same place for $10, it was also a great show. Stands the test of time for me.
Such a great song. This whole album is solid even today.
These guys created so many great songs
i remember waking up to this song on the radio pretty much all through summer of 1998
Saw this at Livestock in Zephyr Hills before they hit it big. No one knew who they where... They opened with this song and midway through it poured down raining. I was tripping balls on gel-tabs and was totally blown away. Was biblical.
You Watching them tripping balls wasn't "biblical"... Nothing biblical about tripping acid. The album is inspired by Christianity.... Not your experience.
They were being Hyperbolic. Besides, there are better ways to get closer to the truths of the universe than by reading a bronze age book. Some people just like a chemical intervention to get them going. And then they interface with the transcendent part of their being. I'm sorry you feel like it's necessary to gate keep how one communes with the universe. @@chrisbailey9377

John Brenton I saw that tour in Orlando
That was my first concert! Saw them in KC.

Since when was Finger Eleven around back then... They didn't even have a known song until like 2006 or 2008... Which is at least 5-7 years later than the Human Clay album iirc. What songs were they playing lol.. Were they just a garage band or what.
I love creed, I was in alot of hard times throughout a few years and this was always my first resort.
This song takes me back to the late 90s, cassette tape blasting this album under the rail road bridge skipping school. Ah such a simple time.
I can't believe I was covering this song with my band right after they released it, and the song is 27 years old. I was 27 when this song came out. Time has eaten my life away in the blink of an eye.
I credit my dad for this music influence creed kicks ass one of the best grunge bands of the 90s 20s
Love this song. Torn and One have to be my two most favorites with What If following.
I have a close friend named Matt. 25 years in, and he calls Creed the Nickelback of the 90s. I see his point, but he wasn't there in the moments that made me love Creed. As in, lifetime commitment. For the select few that get it, commitment is the realist thing in life
What a riffmaster! Gotta love that tone
Damn. When this song first came on the radio..

Best intro song to this album. 👌🏽❤️ although, The entire album is flawless.
I remember when this album came out..i use to cruise on my ride full volume jamming..those were the good all days.

And yes, I have to agree! Torn is most definitely one of their best songs! I never get tired of listening to it, and probably NEVER will!
Yup, this album and a few other bands have help me significantly go co-op with my fathers passing.
